I Know the Secret to Surpass Level 100 - Chapter 475
Lance shook his head vigorously. He raised his hand to stop everyone from taking things further. “I’m sorry, but I have no intentions of ruling a kingdom. I even cut ties with the one I have in the West.”
“That’s only because you did not belong in Avancia,” Ilwoo said. “Prince Lance, you were supposed to be the ruler of this entire continent.”
“It may sound selfish, but I can’t accept this offer,” Lance said sternly. “My home has always been in the West. I do think that this place is great with so many good people, but I can’t force myself to love something out of responsibility. I am an Adventurer first, and Adventurers are free.”
Before Ilwoo could say anything more, Jung stepped in. “He’s right, Ilwoo. We can’t force him to take the responsibility. He, along with all the others from the West, has already helped us so much. Let’s not foece ourselves into them.”
Lance smiled and nodded, “Thank you for understanding. Besides, I’m sure that there’s a more capable person here. One who was raised with the the people and knows what exactly they want.”
“DuDu’s bloodline had been eradicated completely,” Guan Yin announced. “I am Wen Yin, the older sister of DuDu and I can lead this kingdom myself.”
Everyone was silent, Elliot smiled and clapped his hands, making everyone follow him. But their happiness was short lived when the door opened and a man walked in. It was an old man, followed by several more men that were members of the council when DuDu was still reigning.
“As the head of council, I will not accept this,” the old man said. “Our kingdom will be forever grateful for the help you’ve given us, but we cannot let another Wen lead us. Who knows if she turns out to be another tyrant?”
“That’s–” Elliot was about to say something but Guan Yin stopped him. “Guan Yin…”
“Tell me, Council Head DongDong,” Guan Yin narrowed her eyes. “Do you really think that the tyranny that my younger brother showed was because of our clan? Our bloodline? Do you think it is hereditary?”
DongDong sighed, “Princess Yin, with all due respect. It’s not that you are Emperor DuDu’s brother exactly, but because of your name. Whenever the people hears your name, they would tremble in fear.”
“But I am now known as Guan Yin,” she replied with a dry scoff. “Everyone calls me Guan Yin, and I can call myself that for the rest of my life.”
“Yes, but…” DongDong trailed off. “Princess, I don’t think it is right for a–”
“Then what is it?” Guan Yin asked before the council head could even finish his sentence. “A woman to rule a kingdom? Do you think it is unfit? That is why my brother renamed you like the the name of our dog because that is exactly what you are, even worse. At least dogs have principles. You only have pride.”
Connor pursed his lips and closer to Elliot to ask what was going on. “I don’t think I get why they’re mad at each other. Are they ex lovers or something?”
Elliot visibly cringed at this. “That man would pass as her grandfather, what the hell are you talking about? The council does not want Guan Yin to rule because she’s a woman.”
“And what’s wrong with that?” it was Ed who asked this time. “There’s a lot of badass women rulers in history.”
“Not here,” Elliot said. “The women are treated as flowers and are unfit to rule. Some would act like a man and force themselves to look like a man just to even get a position in the office.”
“That sucks,” Hope was the one who spoke. “I saw how much Guan Yin had been leading us when we searched for the Pearl Maiden. She led the entire dragon army when we were down after seeing so many enemies. They should let her rule.”
“Easier to say than done,” Elliot said. “These people are not accustomed to seeing women in leading roles. They’re used to them being sitting still looking pretty. Which is pathetic.”
“What if we test you?” DongDong asked. “You will undergo a series of tests and if you win all of them, we will consider your proposal.”
“No,” everyone turned to see the Jade Maiden. She looked at DongDong and went straight to him, looking at him dead in the eye. “She will rule the kingdom. I refuse to pass my powers unless it is her.”
The Jade Maiden’s name was Zou Meirong and had been noted as the most beautiful Maiden among all twelve of them. She was also the kindest and would never raise her voice to anyone given the fact that she had a lot of patience to burn.
This time, however, Meirong was raising her voice as she walked up to DongDong. “Even in my time, I have been oppressed countless of times, deemed as just a flower to be there to look pretty for her husband. I don’t want that to happen to anyone else, especially when I know her capabilities.”
“But Miss–”
“Don’t. “Miss”. Me,” Meirong growled. “Sit there and think about everything that you just said and reevaluate everything. Again, if it’s not Guan Yin, I will not approve of it.”
“But–”
“No more anything!” Meirong screamed, shaking the entire building with only her voice. Everyone was also shocked, not expecting the response from the Maiden. “Sit there and let Guan Yin lead.”
“Y-Yes, miss,” DongDong bowed before leading his men to the side.
Meirong’s expression suddenly changed. She smiled and clasped her hands together. “Now that that’s settled, let us then proceed to the proclamation. This will happen in three days so we have to be quick.”
“Zhong,” DongDong whispered to his ally. “Prepare yourself. We can’t let it go like they planned. Not now.”
“Yes, council master,” Zhong replied with a nod.
“Good,” DongDong said. “Now, let’s see what they have in their sleeves.”
Hope leaned to whisper in Elliot’s ear, “They do know that we have heightened senses, right? We can basically hear them.”
Elliot chuckled and shook his head.. “Let’s just see.”
