I Refuse To Be A Character In A Novel - Chapter 49 Part 1

“That sounded incredibly beautiful.”
At the end of the play, Mielle eagerly clapped her hands.
“I already knew that the young master could play so well but I must say, I had my doubts when the madam said that she could play the Piano. Who would have known!”
Wearing a slightly offended expression, Erna immediately turned her head towards Mielle’s direction.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“…”
When Erna stared at her with doubtful eyes, Mielle rolled her eyes slightly as she made a comment.
“Well, you sounded just as confident when you said that you can cook as well but we all know how that turned out.”
“What? Did you not like my cookies?”
Both Mielle and Jonas avoided Erna’s eyes as she searched for an answer in their expressions.
“…”
“Well, that’s because it was my first try.”
‘…In this world at least.’
“I’m sure it will taste better next time.”
Erna confidently nodded at her own words.
For 8 years, she had cooked her own meals, and it tasted just fine.
“Oh please don’t! I wouldn’t want the madam to be accused of malicious intent.”
At the end of her words an innocent laughter was heard.
After glaring at Mielle with red eyes, Erna then turned her gaze to her son who was sitting beside her and stroked his hair as he laughed.
She was slightly offended by Mielle’s words, but the beautiful laughter which was heard from her son for the first time was very well worth it.
“I think mother plays the piano really well.”
Unaware of how happy his mother felt simply from hearing his laughter, Jonas tried to sooth her with a compliment.
“Right? I think you got that talent from me.”
Following his comment, Erna spoke mischievously while concealing her laughter.
“… And I did like mother’s chocolate cookies.”
As she looked into his dopey innocent purple eyes that resembled her own, Erna felt compelled to hug her son who had completely lowered his wall of defense around her.
However, she knew that Jonas would get especially embarrassed by such actions when a third person was around, so without him noticing, she winked at Mielle.
Mielle, who understood the sign, left the room with the excuse of bringing some refreshments for the two of them.
As soon as Mielle left, Erna hugged Jonas tightly in her arms.
“Mother!”
Per habit, he tried to pull back but this time Erna didn’t budge.
She hugged him for a long while as though she was desperately hanging onto him.
“Mother has been acting really weirdly today.”
Buried deep in her arms, Jonas muttered to himself, before wrapping his hands around her as well.
