I, The Dragon Overlord - Chapter 653: Blood Ritual of the Evil God
At the top floor of a high-rise building in the CBD commercial district of Seoul, South Korea, luxurious decorations adorned the space of several hundred square meters. All around were single-sided glass windows. Although the lights were off, the moon overhead and the flames burning throughout Seoul brought a dim light to the darkness.
A man in his forties sat in a chair, observing the chaos outside. He held a tall glass and swirled it gently, gazing at the crimson liquid inside, emitting an eerie, deep chuckle.
A faint smell of blood emanated from the glass. It wasn’t red wine but human blood!
Like a vampire, the man took a sip and revealed a blissful expression. He grabbed a severed human arm in front of him, revealing shark-like teeth, and gnawed it clean, bones and all.
“To think I’ve skipped out on the joys of human flesh for so long!”
He spoke softly, his tone filled with joy and excitement. His body was almost devoid of hair, even his muscles looked withered, but his skeletal frame didn’t appear fragile and had a metallic rigidity to it.
This man was none other than the leader of the Christ New Century Church, Lee Uijin, the instigator of the chaos in Seoul.
In his quest for longevity, Lee Uijin killed countless people using his position, transforming himself into a ghoul. Unlike Park Jung-chul, who operated covertly, Lee Uijin openly committed murders, and naturally, his ghoul physiology evolved rapidly.
Nowadays, conventional firearms couldn’t kill him, and his strength and speed far surpassed ordinary humans. In the eyes of mortals, he was akin to a minor superhuman. The only drawback was his need to consume human flesh daily to sustain himself.
But to Lee Uijin, this was inconsequential. Since becoming a ghoul, his taste buds had changed. Only human flesh was a delicacy to him, and everything else tasted like wax.
Lee Uijin gazed at the flames outside the window, watching the flying Byakhee in the sky and the running ghouls on the ground. A crazed smile adorned his face.
“Open the window.”
His voice, raspy like grinding iron, echoed. Surrounding him were people dressed in black robes, kneeling on the ground. Someone immediately rose and opened the window, allowing the cries of humans, the roar of flames, and the gunfire and explosions to permeate the room.
“Haha! Listen, what beautiful music! And we’re the ones playing it. Let’s put more effort into it, kill more people, get more flesh, and attain immortality!”
“Hail the Pope!”
“Hail Nyarlathotep!”
“…”
The kneeling followers erupted into a frenzy of cheers.
“Fortunately, we had informants in high government positions; otherwise, we might have been in real trouble this time. Our deaths would be trivial, but if we had failed to summon our God, that would have been our sin!”
Lee Uijin shuddered with lingering fear. He hadn’t expected the South Korean president to be so decisive, dispatching elite forces to besiege him.
Lee Uijin had assembled a cadre of monsters and transformed into a ghoul. Nonetheless, in the event of a sudden military assault, with heavy firepower aimed at suppressing them, the monsters and Lee Uijin would barely cling to survival.
But the government’s plans had been thoroughly thwarted thanks to the traitors within.
South Korea was already rampant with cults, with rumors of a past incident where children died in a shipwreck, allegedly as a result of a depraved blood sacrifice. Moreover, this incident occurred before the emergence of superhuman abilities, making this entirely the result of a group of lunatics’ actions.
It was evident that South Korea was a hotbed for the evil gods. There were too many people here who believed in various cults. Moreover, Lee Uijin was a genuine superhuman. As long as he demonstrated his extraordinary power in front of some high-ranking officials, he could easily turn many of them into his followers.
Upon learning of the South Korean government’s attack plan, Lee Uijin remained unfazed. Although his sanity had gradually diminished, turning into a true devotee of the evil god, living solely to summon crawling chaos, his intelligence remained. After formulating a counterplan, he not only decimated the besieging army but also scattered those monsters into Seoul, leaving the South Korean government in a dilemma, shifting the focus away from them.
“The South Korean government’s surprise attack forced us to launch our plan prematurely,” Lee Uijin said, gnawing on a bloody thigh.
He had intended to amass more monstrous soldiers before launching a direct invasion of Seoul, overthrowing the president and crowning himself king. However, the sudden action by the South Korean government thwarted his plans, forcing him to act immediately.
“But I was prepared. I had completed a massive ghoul manufacturing array in Seoul. The more people die, the more ghouls will be born. Then, these ghouls can devour and kill each other to become stronger. Our army would only grow stronger. Although ghouls lacked the infectious power of zombies, their strength was incomparable to movie zombies!”
Lee Uijin laughed maniacally.
After a while, he ceased his laughter and turned to the people beside him. “Has Park Jung-chul been found?”
“According to the information we obtained in America, Sir Park has been captured by the American government,” the followers replied respectfully.
“Captured, huh? No matter. When I become the leader of this country, I will turn all South Koreans into ghouls, use more people to summon more Byakhee, and then invade America to rescue Park Jung-chul. He has made significant contributions to our church! We cannot allow him to be locked up by America!”
Lee Uijin exclaimed fervently. This was the wisdom he retained, treating his followers as family and not abandoning those who contributed, to make more followers devout.
This was a skill he had mastered as a cult leader in the past.
“Pay attention to the underground. Our only mature Burrower must not encounter any problems. We need to create an earthquake that will completely collapse Seoul, kill as many people as possible, and use them for blood sacrifices. As long as we can open a gateway and let the great Nyarlathotep’s will descend, we will succeed!”
“You will all be greatly rewarded. This planet, this galaxy, will all be ours. We will be one with the gods!”
Lee Uijin raised his hands high, shouting madly. His eyes were on the brink of collapse, leaving only the last remnants of madness.
“Hail, hail! Hail Nyarlathotep! We are all messengers of crawling chaos! it will bring us the message of the primordial chaos! It is the messenger, the beacon of the ancient rulers, the one we follow!”
Everyone gradually became fanatical, devoid of reason, letting madness dominate their wills and bodies.
