I Was Forced To Marry The Enemy - Chapter 49
It was the night of the engagement and I was beyond nervous. They hadn’t made the announcement yet, in fact everyone who were invited thinks it’s just another average party, my father along with Dante’s father was going to announce it tonight.
I stared at the satin silver dress my mother had picked out for tonight. Again, the dress covered up as much of my skin as it could, however it was a beautiful, elegant dress that somehow made me feel better about myself.
“It’s time.” My mother called, sticking her head around my door.
I nodded. “I’ll be there in a second.” I told her.
I took a deep breath, trying to prepare myself for tonight. Yet, no matter how hard I tried nothing seemed to calm my racing heart. If anyone had told me that I would one day be getting engaged to Dante Clarke, I would say they were insane.
Yet, here I was getting engaged to him with only one week away from our wedding. I had no idea how Dante’s family was going to pull off this wedding so quickly, just a week to plan an entire wedding? That was insane.
Yet no one was willing to wait, it seemed like both sides wanted this wedding to be over with. Everyone, except me that is.
As I made my way downstairs, the crowd immediately turned in my direction and I could hear everyone immediately begin to gossip around me almost shamelessly.
As I took my place next to my family, I could see that everyone was tensed. I wish my brothers were here, I was sure they would have at least fight to get me out of this wedding. But unfortunately they were out on business and wouldn’t be back for another month. I was positive they hadn’t heard about the news yet or they would have been here already.
“Where are they?” My father demanded. “It’s just like the Clarkes to always be unprofessional about everything. Dante and his family can’t even be on time to his own engagement!”
“I’m sure they will be here soon.” My mother cut in.
“I can’t wait any longer, the crowd is waiting for my announcement.”
Without waiting for anyone to respond my father was already knocking his champagne glass and asking for everyone’s attention.
“Tonight, I have an important announcement to make.” He said when the crowd turned to him.
The sudden sound of motorcycles right outside our home caught the attention of everyone.
No.
Surely they didn’t?
Dante and his family wouldn’t be crazy enough to attend the party with their motorbikes, would they?
As if on cue, Dante walked in with his family right behind him, surprised gasps were immediately heard across the room.
None of them were even dressed for a party, in fact they were dressed as though they were about to go to some bike race!
“What are the Clarkes doing here?” I heard someone ask.
“They must be here to stir up trouble.” Another person pitched in.
