I Was Forced To Marry The Enemy - Chapter 68
~ KYOMI ~
I couldn’t believe the nerve of Dante. How could he expect me to just talk to him like nothing happened?
I wiped at the tears falling down my cheeks.
A knock sounded on the door. I felt my body stiffen. I quietly walked over and held down the handle.
As the door opened I came face to face with Dante’s parents.
His father had a stern look on his face, while his mother seemed genuinely concerned about me.
“We’ve been waiting for you to return home.” Kevlar informed me, his tone disapproving. “Violetta told me that she did inform you yesterday that we wanted to speak to you today about the honeymoon .”
I stiffened once more.
I had forgotten about the honeymoon. Yet again.
I nodded. “Yes, she did.”
“As you are aware, you and Dante are the talk of the town. Everyone wants to dig into your relationship and find out exactly what’s happening between the both of you. As such, for both your father’s reputation and mine, we have organized for you and Dante to spend your honeymoon at our private island this weekend.” He said.
I bit my tongue, if I didn’t I would say something that could possibly get me kicked out of the house.
How could he act this normal after what he and his son did to me?
My father did warn me. I should have listened to him.
I didn’t have anyone to blame but myself.
“Also, while you were gone. I made it my duty to fill your closet with pretty outfits with a little help from Violetta.” His mother cut in. “I hope you like it.”
What my closet looked like now was the least of my worries, I had to figure out how to survive an entire weekend on a private island all alone with Dante Clarke.
At least I didn’t have to worry about him seducing me now. From the way things were looking, Dante and I wouldn’t even be talking during the entire trip.
“Thank you.” I responded. Despite everything they’d done, I still liked Dante’s mother. Since our first meeting she was always kind to me.
Though, I did sense that his father didn’t like me. That would make sense, he practically ruined my whole life for his own rivalry with my father.
“What’s going on here?”
Dante.
I was hoping he wouldn’t be here tonight.
But I had to admit, I’ll have to get used to having him around. We lived in the same house, went to the same school, shared the same room. There was no avoiding Dante.
His eyes were on his parents and I was grateful for that. Whenever his hypnotizing gaze turned to me, it was never any good.
“We’ve come to discuss the honeymoon with Kyomi.” Kevlar told him.
Dante’s eyes shut to me at his words. He was searching my eyes, probably trying to figure out whether or not I’d agreed to it.
“Father,” he started. “Is a honeymoon really necessary? I mean we’re already married, what more do we have to prove?”
His words were like a dash of cold water to my face.
So he didn’t want to be around me either? Just the thought of being alone with me seemed to bother him.
For some reason, that thought hurt me. I needed to be stronger, I couldn’t let simple things like this hurt me anymore.
I tried to bury the feelings deep within me.
Dante’s father glared at him. “We’ve discussed all of this already. The honeymoon will take place, it is important that it does. It’s also important that everyone knows about it.” He said. “We will make the announcement so that some reporters can get hold of the news. You two will also need to take pictures while you’re there, just to confirm it and give the public the proof that they’ll want to see.”
Dante looked unhappy with the news.
“We’ll see you two in the morning, there is plenty more to discuss about the honeymoon.” His mother cut in. “And, I mean both of you, not just one.” She added, glaring at Dante.
Without another word they both walked off. Leaving Dante and I alone together.
I could feel his eyes on me now, yet I refused to look at him. This time however, he didn’t bother saying a word to me.
Good. That was the way I wanted it to be.
I turned my back on him and focused on getting some clothing for the night. I couldn’t change in front of him, so that left changing in the bathroom.
I heard the door silently shut behind me.
The tension in the air was high. I didn’t want to be here right now. Seeing Dante just reminded me of the betrayal.
I had to somehow get through this, somehow get used to him being around me. But that didn’t mean I would entertain his presence this time.
I grabbed the towel, searching through the closet. My cheeks grew red at what I saw there. The sleepwear was completely seductive.
Why did they put these here?
I couldn’t wear this with Dante locked in the same room with me!
I glanced to the back of me and suddenly wished I didn’t. There, just as handsome and irresistible as always. Dante lay on the bed, his gaze directly on me.
For a moment, all I could do was stop and stare. He was looking at me in a way I’d never seen before.
It was hard to read into this expression. My heart was pounding in my ċhėst. And he wasn’t saying anything, just continued to look at me. His eyes dark and intense.
This was dangerous.
This. . . Getting lost in his eyes.
It was what had gotten me in trouble in the first place. I couldn’t do this to myself again, no matter how irresistible Dante was. It didn’t matter that he stared at me as though I were the only woman in the world, it didn’t matter that I wanted to throw myself in his arms despite the anger I felt inside.
None of that mattered.
For Dante never did like me.
That was all I needed to snap back into reality. I turned my face away and grabbed the sleepwear along with the towel before storming into the bathroom.
When there, I made sure to lock the door behind me.
Now I needed to figure out how to survive an entire night on a bed next to him . . . With these seductive clothes that had been placed in my closet!
