I Was Proposed By A Villain - Chapter 1.3
The wind blew her hair. The eyes shown under the hair were bizarre. He only looked at her and felt like a victim in front of a predator. The lips didn’t come off easily, but Regina denied it until the end…..
“I don’t know what you mean, It’s a little windy, so I’ll go in first.”
She turned around and walked faster than usual. She felt like she was sweating on her back just in case he caught her or killed her here. Regina couldn’t even figure out whether there was one or two steps that rang in the hallway. Luckily Arsene didn’t catch her, and she was able to return to the party safely.
“Regina?”
She was relieved to get in the crowd. In the meantime, Isota looked at Regina’s face and opened her eyes wide as she went to her side.
“You look so pale right now. More than before.”
She couldn’t tell if Isota words were real because she couldn’t see her face, but it seemed a little cold. Perhaps because she was so nervous, she was about to tell Isota that she would go back.
“But there was someone who saw Duke Greroy near there that day.”
Regina turned her head, holding her rattling heart in surprise. The group with Isota was also talking about Count Durand.
“Duke Greroy is a loyal servant to the Emperor. Count Durand was on the side of House Russell and…..” they lowered their voices and broached the argument that it might be.
The Marquis Russell belonged to the Queen Dowager, Alicia. She gave birth to Ruairi and Arsene’s half-brother, the third Prince, and tried to crown her own child, but failed. Eventually, the emperor became Ruairi, the crown prince at the time. But she couldn’t give up and was still dreaming of treason.
Of course, she knew the queen was dreaming of treason because she had read the novel. And to stop it, Arsene was going around so-called ‘cleaning’.
‘Where in the world did the rumor come from that I saw the Duke of Greroy?’ It was a rumor that could be mistaken that she spread it.
Her mouth opened before she could finish thinking. “I did see Duke Greroy that day too, and he went into a jewelry store.”
Their eyes turned to her. “Oh, my.”
She felt their eyes shining with curiosity. ‘Oh, damn it, I clearly said things like I never saw him’. However, they did not bother to contradict the words here.
“A Jeweler?”
“Yes, I was nearby that day because I had business to attend to. I saw him passing by from afar.” Regina diligently insisted that Count Durand’s work was irrelevant to Arsene.
“I don’t know what he was choosing, but he didn’t come out until a long time later. When you look at jewelry stores and clothing stores, you lose track of time, right?”
“No way…” They used to go shopping for half a day, so it made sense.
“In addition, you said it was early in the evening that Count Durand died. I’m sure the Duke was still at the jewelry store.”
She don’t know why, but it was rumored that Count Durand’s death time was early in the evening. But it was actually an evening close to night. Regina used the time error to create Arsene’s alibi.
Doubts may not have completely subsided, but she thought she’d tried hard enough. She shrugged her shoulders as if it was your heart to believe and turned to Isota. She had to leave quickly before another question came in.
“I’m going home first. I’m sorry.”
“It’s all right. Go get some rest.”
When she apologized with her eyebrows hanging down, she patted her back as if she had done it. Greeting Isota, Regina, who left her seat, looked around for Edwin, who came with her.
Likewise, Edwin, who has black hair, was spotted quickly because of his personal height. Not long away, she made eye contact with him looking at her. As she approached him with quick steps, he asked in a voice so small that they could only hear each other.
“Why did Duke Greroy suddenly come to you? I want to know why. What the hell is he thinking? Why did he say that in front of everyone? What did you say?”
“Later, I’ll go first.” She shrugged off Edwin’s words and went out.
He didn’t hold on to her any longer to see if she looked good. Regina jumped out of the hall as if she were being chased by something and jumped into the wagon.
“Lady?”
“Go”
The coachman, embarrassed by her urgent voice, rushed off the wagon. The carriage carrying Regina escaped from the Marquis Brienne party.
*****
A cool breeze shook the curtains on the terrace. A bright light from inside the curtain leaked out, creating a dark shadow.
“Even.” At Arsene’s call, a servant who was waiting nearby appeared.
“Yeah.”
“Stop by the jewelry store and buy some things. A necklace would be nice.”
“All right.”
After Even disappeared, Arsene looking at the entrance party and smile.
