I Was Supposed To Be A Queen, But I Was Accused Of Being A Fake Saint, So I Fled And Was Doted On By The Crown Prince, But I Hope You’ll Be Happy There Too - CH 45
Chapter – 45 || It Was Always The People Who Suffered
When the silent prayer was over, Rudolf-sama said.
“Elvira, I’m sorry to leave you. Wadnui, take good care of her.”
“Leave it to me.”
Finally, it was time to enter the temple.
After briefly cleansing my hands and face, I followed Wadnui-sama into the temple.
Most of the temples in the capital and the city were made of marble, but this one was built of wood.
The floor creaked.
“There is nothing here, but I have cleaned it and lit the candles. Pray for me until Lady Elvira feels better.”
“Thank you very much.”
“I’ll be in the back, watching over Lady Elvira, and there will be knights outside, so don’t worry.”
Rudolf-sama, had finished discussing security with Christopher.
“Thank you very much… Rudolf-sama and everyone here.”
I bowed and then proceeded towards the centre of the temple.
The building was so small that I soon reached it.
Even this was cute and endearing, so I smiled and walked on.
I was happy.
To be able to pray here like this.
In the Kingdom of Turku, for once, even though I had caused so much trouble for so many people.
This was the purpose of my visit.
I had been thinking over and over again about what I should do and to what extent I should do it for the country where I was born.
And the conclusion I came to was to do nothing.
I myself would part from my hometown after this prayer today.
Of course, I had a lot of concerns about the future of this country.
However, I was an outcast.
I was not in a position to do anything about it.
However, I wondered what would happen to this country if I left it alone.
This thought shook me to the very end.
No matter how much I tried to separate the two, my heart ached every time I thought of the people suffering from the disasters.
It was Rudolf-sama, after all, who took care of my suffering.
Before my visit to the Kingdom of Turku, Rudolf-sama told me, “I have to go to the Kingdom of Turku.
—His Royal Highness, King Patrick, his brother, will be king.”
Oh my God!
When I heard about it, I shuddered in horror.
However, if we left it to Alexander-sama, this country would certainly be at the mercy of the central part of the temple led by the High Priestess.
—Of course, as an empire, we don’t interfere in internal affairs out in the open. Well, we might tread a line, though.
Then Rudolf-sama, after consulting with my father, summoned Brother Richard back in secret.
After returning to the kingdom, Brother Richard pretended to be a commoner and gathered as much information as he could.
Based on this information, several secret agreements were made.
Publicly, there would be no movement yet, but after we returned to the Zomer Empire, Alexander-sama’s status would be quite uncertain.
It was also a bad move for him to get rid of his old vassals because he was comparing himself to the former king.
I wondered if Alexander-sama was aware that his feet were crumbling under him.
I was sure he hadn’t noticed.
Was I still cold for thinking such a thing without hesitation?
Maybe so.
But this was the best I could do.
Not for Alexander-sama.
It was for the people.
…Or maybe I just liked to think so.
Before I knew it, I was right in front of the altar.
I bent my knees.
The shadows swayed, perhaps from the candlelight.
…I missed this.
I had been here a few times, but I remembered it feeling more special than any other place I’ve been.
I wondered if the previous Saints were watching over us.
I would like to make a request to the former Saint so that the series of disasters could be put to rest.
I hope the former Saint would listen to me.
I kept my head down and folded my hands.
“Let’s begin.”
I was about to say a prayer.
But then,
I thought I heard a noise outside, and suddenly the door opened.
“There you are.”
“High Priestess?”
