IDLE Database - Chapter 109
“That’s her. The strongest trainee from the Paleheart City.” Irina pointed at a green-haired girl that’s more or less the same age as her. She’s wearing a uniform slightly similar to what they’re wearing. A Trainee Uniform of sorts that was being used to identify them.
Although it couldn’t be said that she’s walking alone, none of the Trainees from the same city was approaching her. It’s like she was put up on a pedestal where they could only look up at her.
Aldrin eyed her and the green-haired girl coincidentally looked in his direction after one of those following her whispered something while pointing at him.
Her eyes narrowed as she scanned Aldrin but seconds later, she averted her gaze after giving him a scornful look. She then walked away with her followers trudging after her.
“Wha?! That’s rude!”
Irina was the one who reacted after seeing that. She seethed as the desire to call her out arose from her. It’s great and all to feel proud of one’s accomplishment but to throw a scornful look without any reason somehow crossed her boundary.
Her steps gradually became hurried but Aldrin stopped her even before she could drag him with her and start something that didn’t need to happen.
“Let her be. Aren’t we going on a date? There are two hours left before we leave.”
Well, the girl already dragged him away from the others in their group. After meeting up with them, she once again acted on their agreement. Perhaps, capitalizing on the fact that this was their last free time where they didn’t have to worry about anything. It’s also her way to escape from Clark who once again tried to make a move when Aldrin was away.
Really, the persistence he kept on showing actually led her to be pushed towards Aldrin more and more. And there’s no repairing it anymore. His only path was to move on from Irina who clearly had no interest in him.
“Ugh. Why are you nonchalant about it?”
“What can happen if I react to it? Should I also throw her a scornful look? That’s just gonna sour the mood for us. You don’t want that, I reckon.”
“… Of course, I don’t.”
Aldrin had no time to waste on pettiness. Even if that girl from the Paleheart City or the guy in the Inkdragon City grew to late Stage 1 Energy Refiner quicker than him, they’re still going to be inferior to him when the multiplier applied to him. Not that he’s planning to trample on them with an unfair advantage.
Besides, he didn’t even know if the planned activity for them in this Dimension would be finished. If the changes of the Dimension reached this place, the Camp would most likely be shelved or worse, they’d be asked to join the efforts to maintain control of this resource-filled world.
“This shop here. Let’s go in!”
With their walk resumed, Irina soon brought him to different shops. Mostly souvenir ones. Although it’s not supposed to be a tourist destination, shops like those would always pop out and there would always be customers.
Now that he spent the last few days acting as Irina’s boyfriend, he somehow understood that, like any other woman, the girl was clearly someone from a well-off family. She’s slightly selfish on the inside. Nonetheless, her selfishness was, before he knew it, also applied to him. Even though there’s no admittance from her, the girl had started acting as if he’s her real boyfriend. Especially today wherein they had free time instead of constantly training at the camp.
Aldrin still accommodated her, however. But his mind lies elsewhere. In the end, Aldrin brought her to the same café he spent the first hour earlier.
As it was a private room, Aldrin saw the extent of how far could Irina go with their pretend relationship. He deliberately brought her there so that they could talk about their agreement.
“Alright. You win, Aldrin. Did I look foolish to you?” Irina raised her hand in surrender as she edged away from him. She sighed and sipped the tea brought to their room.
Aldrin shook his head and gave her a head pat. “If you’re foolish then I’m the same. I took your offer, after all. And I admit, I liked it when you’re sticking close to me.”
Any man would. Feeling the softness and the elasticity pressing on him, only those without carnal desire or adeptly focused on something would be indifferent with it.
“… Pervert. Honestly, I’m probably only getting carried away. You kept on offering advice to us when you didn’t really need to. That’s why I’ve taken the chance when you told me that it might be effective in making him give up. By the way, am I not attractive to you?”
“Well, you’re attractive enough for me. I like your golden hair, your bright enthusiastic eyes, your pink succulent lips and your spotless skin. I really wonder why you only have Clark as your suitor.” Aldrin answered honestly. He couldn’t deny that.
“There’s a lot of them, actually. You’re only aware of Clark since he’s the closest. I really don’t know why you seem indifferent even if I’m being too obvious with my growing interest in you.”
Irina sighed once more and this time, drank half of her tea. Nonetheless, she did that without losing some of her grace.
Seeing that it’s her second sigh of the day, Aldrin edged closer to her, restoring their close distance. And for the first time since he took up the role as her fake boyfriend, Aldrin slipped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. “Mhm. It’s not that I’m indifferent. You employed me and paid me up front. I’m just acting around the basis of our agreement. But if you order me now to act as a real boyfriend to you until the duration of the camp then I will act accordingly. Just like this..” Aldrin slightly tightened her grip, his finger digging onto her soft sides.
