IDLE Database - Chapter 69
After supplying him with information about the upcoming lessons; what to expect in the following days as well as a professional tip on operating a Metadome, the flustered Janet left his room in a slight panic. She clearly got quite a fright when Aldrin suddenly pushed her down as he attempted to play along with her teasing.
Aldrin watched her retreating back with an amused expression. In his guess, that elder sister of his, despite being a great teaser, was inexperienced at that department.
Either way, he brushed it off as he locked his door once again.
He’s not a horny teenager anymore. There’s a time and place for that as well as the right circumstances. Besides, even though he had just recently accepted his attraction to Renissa, their romantic plight had to be bottled up due to separation. He’s not even clear if the girl felt the same for him and he hadn’t confessed to her yet. All they had was that ‘boy’friend-‘girl’friend thing.
In any case, that’s not his focus at the moment. Moreover, the camp had a signal jammer. For them to focus on their training, communication outside was prohibited. It would be a month before they heard from each other again.
“Let’s see. She also prepared this…” Aldrin picked up the storage device she left behind on his bed and checked its contents by plugging it through his phone.
Spending at least ten minutes reading its contents, Aldrin got a clear view of what awaits them at the end of the camp.
“There are two other Secondary City training camps that will be competing with us during the third and fourth week. Their strongest rookies are even listed in detail here. A young man who hailed from a Primary City and got sent there to test his mettle as well as a talented female Energy Refiner from the most famous Refiner Lineage in their Secondary City. Janet even noted that she’s approaching Renissa’s talent. Furthermore, both of them are already middle Stage 1 Energy Refiner and the young man is already approaching the late Stage 1.”
Aldrin rearranged the information he got before noting their specialties. He didn’t truly plan to be competitive. However, upon knowing that there were already amazing rookies like that, it wouldn’t be weird for him to also show some bits of talent. He had something to lean on, after all. His spherical Energy Quintessence.
Furthermore, he’s not the only ‘lucky’ Awakened Energy Refiner that showed great talent. There’s Renissa as the living example.
In a way, what he’d shown so far wasn’t that exceptional. As long as he didn’t show some questionable feats like his Concepts or his quick advancements, he’d be fine to show off a bit.
He’s also beginning to doubt that only Janet tried that stunt. Most likely, those two or more of them were already aware of him.
“Since she went out of her way to provide me numerous benefits, what’s wrong with making her proud while I’m here? That’s the least I could do to repay her.”
Having decided that, his enthusiasm to better himself pumped up. But at the same time, he also reinforced his mind to make sure that he wouldn’t make a mistake.
Outside the Dimensions provided by the IDLE Database, Aldrin Fallwater could only use Shadow Steps.
And if need be, he’d also not hesitate to convert IDLE Points to Federation Credits to buy Shadow Clone or Shadow Blade’s physical Concept Book.
After tucking away the storage device, he finally got the chance to check the mysterious program.
Rereading the two notable notifications about his current IDLE Points and the new feature that got unlocked, he nodded once more as the same excitement filled him.
“A new icon.” He muttered as his eyes were immediately attracted to the new square icon next to the shopping cart icon of Idle Shopping.
“Strange, it’s called Idle Storage but the icon isn’t even related to storage. Not a safebox nor a treasure chest.”
The icon depicted a furnace with blazing flames in a red background.
After tapping it once, a prompt suddenly showed up in front of him.
[Do you want to enter Idle Storage?]
[Note: The Storage is located in a small dimension connected to the IDLE Database. The same as Idle Adventure, you can send your consciousness inside where a separate Dimensional Body in your own make can be possessed to manage the Storage manually. Otherwise, you’ll be presented with a simplified interface and limited features.]
[Idle Storage allows you to store anything that contains Dimensional Energy except living things. However, only those connected to the IDLE Database can be stored.]
[By connected to IDLE Database, it means anything you can acquire using one of its features, such as Idle Adventure and Summon Dimensional Clone Skill]
[Host is advised to send your consciousness inside during the first time accessing the Idle Storage]
After reading through that series of notifications, Aldrin naturally followed its advice.
First, he laid down on his bed comfortably before preparing himself mentally. And a few seconds after that, he tapped ‘Yes’.
As soon as he did that, Aldrin lost consciousness.
Without knowing how long he was unconscious, the next thing that registered in his eyes was the mountain of human-sized ant corpses piled up in front of him.
Before he could even feel all of his five senses, a rectangular panel appeared in front of him much like what he’s seeing after using manual control in Idle Adventure.
[Welcome to Idle Storage host!]
[What do you want to do?]
Below that question, three choices were presented to him.
-Inspect Storage
-Manage Resources
-Leave Idle Storage
“Let’s see. Inspect Storage.”
Aldrin blurted that out instead of tapping on its rectangle.
Fortunately for him, the system in place accepted it.
As soon as those choices were cleared, he found himself staring in front of the mountain of corpses again. On top of his vision, two virtual counters could be seen.
[Storage Capacity: 20%]
[Essence Storage: 0/100]
“A new currency!” Aldrin immediately exclaimed upon seeing that second line.
All this time, all he had was IDLE Points. But now…. in this Idle Storage, a new currency presented itself.
