IDLE Database - Chapter 95
“Why does your reason change every time? Yesterday, it’s to make use of the money you’ll be spending on me.” Aldrin scratched his head on purpose as they began their walk towards the cafeteria.
Sucks for Clark but judging from Irina’s offer alone, he clearly had no chance to overturn the girl’s view of him. That’s what Aldrin observed.
Clark could never be Irina’s significant other.
Perhaps he was put into the friendzone or the girl had just predicted that it would be troublesome for her if she ever accepted him. Just considering how the guy was already acting that annoying even if they’re not in a relationship yet, it’s surely an endless headache for her.
Either of the two possibilities, Aldrin didn’t care too much. He was clearly more tempted because of the money offered.
Yes, he could earn that much through IDLE Database but… he still wanted to be discreet in suddenly producing that much money when he’s still a guy that’s supposed to be a guy in training.
Irina’s family was rich enough to produce that much. And perhaps knowing that he’s not from an Energy Refiner lineage, that’s like offering him another rope to climb on for his career.
Of course, Aldrin didn’t accept it that easily, either. It’s common sense not to show his greed. He declined the offer at first and made it appear that he’s only accepting it for the sake of the girl and how he wanted to keep their group in line.
And with that, Aldrin was successfully hired as a ‘fake lover’ for the staggering amount of 7.5 million Federation Credits or 75,000 IDLE Points if he converted it. 10,000 credits=100 points.
The Awakening Procedure costs 15 to 20 million Federation Credits, depending on the person.
“Isn’t it obvious? You didn’t like the fact that I’m going to pay you. Best not to mention it again. But I know. That money will be enough to give you an edge and progress further in this career. Don’t forget about me once you make a name for yourself in the future. I’ll be sad.” Irina acted like an abandoned puppy before laughing as they went to the cafeteria to eat their breakfast along with their group as well as to flaunt their ‘blooming relationship’ to Clark.
For the past few days, it’s been fairly effective. He looked heartbroken and even challenged Aldrin a few times only to end up losing each time. However, with an unexpected assist from Frederic who looked amused at the turn of events where he’s convincing the guy to give up on Irina and just be content at being friends with her, the situation didn’t escalate to the point of Clark leaving the group or threatening Aldrin with his family’s backing.

Apato Core City. One of the four Core Cities located in the Planet Dualmoon. Generally, it’s the only Core City located in the western region of the planet.
Although called as Core Cities, the landmass occupied by each of them is smaller than even the smallest Secondary City existing on the planet.
The reason for the smaller landmass of a Core City was because it’s entirely a Government Body. Even if there were Energy Refiner lineages residing in it, they’re all part of the government not of the Association and certainly not of any titan-class organization.
Furthermore, apart from a branch of a Refiner’s Association, no other organizations are allowed to set up their branch inside. The only reason for the Association being there was for the registration of Energy Refiners and monitoring of the criminals, terrorists or gray organizations activity that was being relayed from every part of the region.
Space Elevators could also only be found in every Core City. That’s why, every tourist, returnee or those who would leave the planet had to travel to a Core City to reach the Themis Terminal.
The governmental seat existing in a Core City is called the Regional Governor. And a politician, not entirely a native of the planet sat on it. Furthermore, every Primary City and Secondary City Mayors are answering to him.
Naturally, the one above a Regional Governor is the Planet Overseer that the seat of office is located in one of the two moons orbiting the planet.
At the moment, the Dualmoon Overseer who returned to the surface to stop whatever organization was wreaking havoc on the planet for the past few days was sitting at the highest seat at the Governor’s Hall of the Core City.
Being a superior of the Regional Governor, the Overseer, Tania Kartov nonchalantly took that seat without any fuss as he listened to the reports being relayed to her.
In front of her, a brown-haired old man wearing luxurious garb and a black-haired middle-aged man wearing a silver military uniform stood side by side.
The brown-haired old man was the Regional Governor while the middle-aged man was the highest commanding officer of the region, a Marshall.
“… it is clear that the main culprit for the recent events is someone from the Stiletto Council. However, even after sending them the evidence we gathered, they’re claiming that the technology used to open the Rifts aren’t theirs.” The Regional Governor finished his report and nervously looked at the Overseer.
Clearly, the woman sitting on his right now looked even younger than his young wife but her strength was unrivaled by anyone on the Planet. She single-handedly resolved the dire situation days ago and even captured some key personnel.
After handing them the duty to investigate, they’re expected by her to produce results. Hence, the nervousness. His investigation reached a dead end after the Stiletto Council denied any responsibility, claiming that they’re also being wronged by the people they caught.
“Useless. What about you? Have you rounded up those gray organizations who participated in it? Also, where’s the representative of the Association? Those guys are also lousy.”
“Most of the identified organizations who participated in the attack abandoned their hideouts. The troops I sent are still looking for them. It’s only a matter of time, Overseer. The other regions have also been alerted in case they went over the border.” The Marshall also nervously reported, ashamed that he couldn’t show anything to the powerful Overseer.
Upon hearing that, Tania shook her head disappointedly. Although she judged the report as useless, she’s aware that the crafty Council would not claim responsibility at first unless there’s clear evidence that would point to them.
Furthermore, there’s one more thing that she wanted to focus on. The existence of those Energy Refiners that could control the Rift Monsters…. ‘What are they?’
