If You Dare To Marry Me, Then I Do Too - Chapter 6
Has Fate Come?
***
My parents, who were sitting on the sofa and watching tv, both looked up as I opened the door.
“Luo Luo! Where have you been? Look at you, two siblings! You two have gone wild, you don’t even come back when it’s already past dinner time!” My mother glared at me, complaining.
“Eh, there was a power outage. It’s too cold to stay at home, so I went to a friend’s house to surf the internet. Brother’s not home yet?” I glanced at my brother’s room.
“Him? He said he went to watch a movie with Xiao Mi. I don’t know when he’ll come back. Really, young people nowadays are so energetic. If you’re in love then just talk about it, why do you have to do a lot of things while dating. Don’t you get tired?” Mother seemed to resent how my brother often comes home late.
“Hey, hey, don’t ask me. I’m not in love. How would I get tired?” I laughed dryly and sat down on the sofa, grabbing the remote control near the tea plant.
“You’re not young anymore, you should consider looking for a date. There are so many boys in your class, is there no one willing to pursue you? I’ll ask my friends at work to introduce some to you then why don’t you choose someone that you like?” Mother said thoughtfully.
“No need, I hate blind dates. Don’t worry, the fate that belongs to me will come eventually!” As soon as I heard her suggestion, I became anxious.
“How can I not worry? Your father and I are getting older day by day. What if we won’t be able to see that day come? Your brother’s not yet married, and you, you don’t even have a boyfriend. I’m so worried!” Mom sighed.
“Then go ask my brother to get married as soon as possible. They’ve been together for several years, it’s about time they get married.” I shifted the attention to my brother.
“Your brother also wants to get married now, it’s Xiao Mi who doesn’t want to. He said that she still wants to have fun for a few more years then get settled down when she gets tired. Really, what’s up with that? Girls these days are such princesses! Your brother is hanged to this tree. I think the day of his wedding is still a long time away!” My mother looked very worried speaking about my brother.
My brother and Xiao Mi met three years ago. At that time, my brother had just graduated with a Master’s degree. Chen Ling, his first love and first girlfriend for four years, broke up with him to go abroad. She was duty-bound to marry an American student, and then both of them flew to the United States.
My brother loved Chen Ling so much. He became so devastated and gave up on himself, drinking heavily everyday.
At this time, Xiao Mi, who just graduated from university, was assigned to my brother’s work unit. My love-obsessed brother suddenly saw the light of dawn in the dark night. He saw Xiao Mi as his spiritual life saver and launched a strong pursuit.
Poor Xiao Mi, who naturally didn’t know that my brother treats her as a replacement for his first girlfriend, was eventually moved by Brother’s persistence and the two of them fell in love.
When my brother told me this, he looked like he was having a really hard time. However, Xiao Mi really was in love with my brother. Her deep love finally let my brother out of the shadow of his lost love. He slowly fell in love with her for real.
Of course, my mother is unaware of this. All she knows is that my brother is so in love with Xiao Mi and is willing to wait for her. What she doesn’t know is that Xiao Mi is the one who has done a lot for my brother.
In addition to his love for her, my brother has always felt responsible and guilty towards her, so how can he not marry her?
“Mom, you don’t have to worry about my brother’s marriage. It’s only a matter of time before they get married anyway. Xiao Mi has always treated you like a mother-in-law, so does the piece of marriage paper really matter now? Besides, don’t you really like Xiao Mi? Don’t you want her to get married to my brother?” I put my arm around my mother as I comforted her.
“You’re right. Xiao Mi is gentle, sensible and filial. She’s even better than you! I like her very much!” Mom smiled.
“Hehe, that’s right, so don’t worry anymore. She won’t go away, she’ll be your daughter-in-law. Okay, you guys watch TV, I’m going to go online!” I got up and went into the study.
I turned on my pc and worked on my novel for a while, then I logged into my account and saw that dead mouse was already online.
“Hey, blind cat, why are you only here at this time? Brother Mouse has been waiting for you for a long time!” On the video screen, the dead mouse was grinning at me stupidly.
“Wow, isn’t this mouse so eager to enter the blind cat’s belly? I guess you probably want to die as soon as possible and reincarnate, so you no longer have to worry about people shouting and fighting when crossing the street. Hey, hey, this mouse is really smart!” I snickered and teased.
“Well, this young master might as well accept his fate to become a mouse. At least there’s a lovely blind cat to accompany him even if he dies. This is exactly like mandarin ducks of the same fate, walking hand in hand on the way to the grave. What a romantic mood this is! It’s beautiful when you think about it like that.” He smirked.
“This lustful, bold, dead mouse! You dare take advantage of this girl? You deserve to be dragged out, receive forty beatings until your skin is split open and your flesh is broken then have salt sprinkled on your wounds! I dare you to still act proud after then!” I answered, not showing any weakness.
“No wonder they all say that the heart of a woman is the most poisonous. I really admire you, how could you think of such vicious tricks? It seems like I really can’t afford to offend you, otherwise I won’t even know how I’ll die.” He pretended to be afraid.
I laughed loudly, joked and fought with the dead mouse unscrupulously, and chatted about random topics. We talked about our childhood, our future plans, then just messed around and bickered with each other.
We talked freely, like friends who have already known each other for a long time. Isn’t it strange to have this kind of feeling between us?
He said that he also felt like this. He said that he felt inexplicable familiarity and kindness when I turned back and called out his name in the internet cafe. He said that the surprised expression on my face and big, clear eyes made him feel the urge to cry!
Is this really the legendary thing called fate? Is there really such a mysterious thing in the world?
I can’t help but be a little confused!
I can’t believe it. Isn’t this just a coincidence? How could this be called fate?
But the dead mouse repeatedly stressed that we were fated, saying that there are not so many coincidences in the world.
I stubbornly said no and that I never believed in fate. I said that fate is just a lame excuse used by romanticists. It might even be to find a high-sounding reason for their passion.I threatened dead mouse ferociously that if he dared say that we are fated again, then I’ll really go mad!
I always get mad faster than the page of a book being turned. I’m moody and unpredictable. This jerk had already seen me get mad so he quickly raised his hand and surrendered, pitifully saying that he would never do it again.
I laughed wildly and sent a picture of a baby’s head being caressed with a sentence: Mumu is really good!
“Luo Luo! Can you stop being so moody?! It scares people to death seeing someone mad suddenly laugh!” He sent a lot of sweating emoticons.
“You know that I’m a blind cat, right? What is a blind cat? A blind cat is a disabled cat. When you talk about a disabled cat, shouldn’t she be mentally abnormal? Don’t you dare talk any more nonsense or I’ll turn you into a blind mouse…” I rolled my eyes and argued.
He sent another series of sweating emoticons. Maybe this guy is too angry, or maybe he’s feeling hot and turned on his big air conditioner, or maybe his body is just too weak so breaking out in cold sweat. Hahahaha!
Honestly, talking to him is very fun and relaxing. He types fast, speaks humorously. He’s also silly, like a child. Tease him a few times and he’ll immediately turn red-eyed! So fun!
I spent several nights in a row chatting with dead mouse. I had never been this happy talking to a netizen. The feeling of getting more familiar made me lower my guard…
