I’ll Become the Female Lead in this Trashy Webnovel - CH 33.1
33. You make me so miserable (1)
Quickly grabbing the sword on the floor, Deon pointed it at Joshua’s neck.
He used the sharp blade to threaten him as if he could cut the crown prince’s throat at any given moment.
The crowd’s buzzing grew, and Joshua’s knights, who were anxiously watching the scene as his escorts, couldn’t hold back anymore and shouted.
“Down!”
In this chaotic situation, Joshua calmly wiped the blood around his mouth by himself.
“Yes. You’re doing good so far.”
“What?”
“If you don’t kill me right now, I’ll have to kill you eventually.”
“Do you think I can’t do it?”
The blade touching Joshua’s neck had dropped before Deon lifted it once again in the air.
The tip of the sword was sparkling and that was enough of a reason to kill him.
Joshua caught the sword falling unto him, blocking the swift attack.
*CHAENG*
A sharp sound rang through the Great Hall, causing people to burst into sighs.
“Are you scared because you’re about to die?” Deon uttered a harsh sarcasm as he rushed to him immediately.
Simple and ignorant.
Joshua thought Deon was two of those things and he still hadn’t changed since a long time ago.
He was a man whom he could easily manipulate due to his predictability.
“Stupid fool.” Joshua said.
Deon couldn’t even hear that since he was too busy seething.
When his cool blade reached the edge of his neck, Joshua twisted his body away from it just in time.
Nevertheless, blood began to trickle after his flesh had been cut.
Joshua’s slow movements, which made him look oblivious to such attacks, scratched Deon’s temper even more.
“I’m going to tear your ugly face to pieces!” Deon growled, approaching him with aggression.
His sword penetrated his black uniform and stabbed Joshua in the abdomen before pulling it out.
His forehead wrinkled in pain but a relieved smile was drawn on his lips at the next curtain’s finale.
“Hold him.”
Joshua’s knights surrounded Deon quickly as if they had been waiting for his command for quite a while now.
Four men tried to catch Deon with all their might.
He swung his arms roughly but when all the knights came at him at once, he finally got caught.
Deon was forced to release the sword in his grip and the knights’ multiple punches caused him to stumble and fall to his knees.
Blood formed under his strong, teary-eyed gaze.
“You have six dogs under your command. Is that the best you can do?” Deon’s blood-stained lips spat out.
Unfortunately, Joshua couldn’t care less so his pointed statement didn’t affect him at all.
A bloody grin had spread across his mouth as he laughed.
After wiping the warm blood flowing from his neck, he pulled out something cold around his waist.
“Deon, do you know what this is?”
“Do I look like I care, you punk?”
The mysterious object was aimed at his head from a distance.
“This will help the Franklin Empire achieve victory,” Joshua said smoothly as if he was reading a poem.
It did not match the current atmosphere at all.
Deon cursed him in response.
“You’re only a royalty pretending to have noble goals for this Empire.”
Joshua aimed the object at Deon’s head with a click.
“Still, a lot of work needs to be done, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try it out.”
“What are you talking about?”
Deon was facing a small hole in front of him and it was something he had never seen before.
It strangely felt like something was going to come out of it, making him anxious.
He attempted to get away from the men weighing him down and his pants got dirty as he struggled on the ground.
“You should be honored, Deon. You’re the first person to die with this.”
Joshua laughed and put enough strength on his index finger.
“No!”
His fingertips moved smoothly and they trembled once the loud shots shook their surroundings.
His eyes also witnessed the weapon’s tremors.
The screaming spectators seemed to be watching the woman at the center.
The woman, who was running in a flamboyant dress, hugged a man several times bigger than her.
In addition, Deon and Joshua’s eyes widened in shock.
“Ari.”
Deon’s slightly submerged voice echoed low into the dusty air.
The scent of flowers mixed with the smell of gunpowder helped him become mentally stable.
He leaned against the small woman, who had been trembling due to the huge gunfire, and her familiar scent shocked the other man to the core.
“Why?” The question that he couldn’t bear to spit out became a murmur.
Since she was crouching while hugging Deon, the gun’s bullet missed and only hit her purple hair.
Joshua’s lips trembled.
Why?
Why did she suddenly feel so miserable?
The crown prince’s bewildered eyes wobbled pitifully.
“No, Joshua. Don’t do it!”
Her words were faint in his ears, failing to reach him.
Joshua stood there as if something had hit him hard on the head.
The happiest day he should have experienced in these recent years was ruined in an instant.
His entire world had crumbled and it continued with no end in sight.
While trying to figure out the reason why he felt this way, Joshua finally found the right word.
He could identify this unexplainable emotion at last.
He was miserable.
Soon, Joshua’s blood-colored eyes glowed when he recognized the woman who protected Deon with her life.
Who he wanted to kill was—-
Smirking, Joshua spoke. “Ariad.”
Deon circled an arm around Ariad’s shoulder as if mocking him for not being chosen.
He was smiling in relief until he wasn’t anymore.
“Come here.”
‘Get away from him, Ariad.’
Ariad’s mouth was dry that she could barely utter an explanation.
Nevertheless, she still wanted to ask Joshua for something.
But, she had no idea she was playing with a poor soul that had reached its limit.
“Promise me that you won’t kill me. Then, I’ll go to you.”
Joshua didn’t respond and stretched out his hand, instead.
The gun fell to the ground when he released it.
“Come here.”
The crown prince wasn’t smiling anymore.
This was his limit.
