I’ll Become the Tyrant’s Tutor - Chapter 7
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
No way.
Prim was indeed speechless. It was a secret that only his Nanny, Marian and Reynsis, knew that he could only see the colour of red.
But she is Primabel, an unknown painter. There was no way for a mere painter to know Reynsis’s secret.
Her face turned pale and a cold sweat dripped onto her cheek.
Prim’s hands trembled when her eyes met his. She turned her eyes away from the fierce gaze. Then, he followed her eyes too. She began to panic.
‘Let’s think. Gosh, think and calm down!’2
But an acceptable excuse couldn’t come to her mind. Prim, who stands in front of Reynsis like a fool, suddenly smiles awkwardly.
“Well uh, I used to live in a place where I got caught up by reading. Uh, what is it? Radika, it is called Radika! It is a very small country, and also my hometown. You know, the people in my country do that with their mind-reading skills. My country is so famous and if you hold someone hands, you can read their mind -“
“………”
His cold eyes glared at Prim. It couldn’t have worked either.
“That’s uh, the truth is….”
“……..”
“I didn’t mean to say that because it was too urgent. So, I just did it once. You wouldn’t believe it, but I really didn’t know! It is a real coincidence.”
A bunch of excuses filled her mind. Her voice grew smaller and smaller.
“Hey.”
Prim, who was rambling, slowly lifted her head. Reynsis signaled her to stop.
Like the dog that got his message, Prim closed her mouth
“That’s enough. You don’t have to make a ridiculous excuse. I don’t know how you know it, but Marian could have said it. Because she can blurt it out without her realizing it.”
“Marian..?”
“………”
Oh my.
“Ah yes yes, Marian told me that, hahah.”
The way she smiled was so awkward. Reynsis looked at her gently. She just laughed him off while muttering he lies-excused.4
Reynsis seemed to think that Prim’s excuse regarding Marian is true. Prim sighed with relief.
“Prince, let’s go now.”
She raised herself up first. It was a bit hard for her to get up but it was also an instant.
“You….”
Then her legs trembled as if the tension had eased. Lane glanced at her. While being embarrassed, Prim picked up the lanterns with a smile on her face.
“Let’s go back before it gets any darker or do you want me to hold your hand?”
“You….”
Reynsis frowned at her offer. What’s so easy about this, Prim? She tried to keep her bright face.
Reynsis sighs, “Next time, do not interfere.”
“Pardon me?”
“Do not cut in.”
He added, as if to reiterate. I was just trying to help you.
Prim bit her lips due to her frustration. She felt unfair and pout without realizing it. Reynsis narrowed his forehead towards Prim.
“I’m saying this because I can win without you. Do you understand what I mean?”
Don’t ever do anything reckless again. It sounded like she was getting a scolding from a child.
But still, she nodded.
Finally, they managed to get out of the Dark Forest. There are so many knights and servants that are desperately searching for the Reynsis.
Everyone who worked at the Belles Palace was looking for Reynsis. As if they had never imagined he would have gone into the woods, they were only searching around the Palace.
Prim can see Marian stomping her feet in distance.
Prim called her name and waved her hand loudly. Then, Marian came running to them at high speed.
“Your Highness! Do you know how worried I was!”
Marian was about to burst into tears. Her heart felt heartbroken but soon relieved.
Where did you get hurt? Why did you leave? What would you have done without her? If you didn’t have lanterns, you should have come back.
It was endless nagging, but Prim could feel affection. Reynsis listened to Marian’s nagging. In its own way, it seemed to know this is all Prim’s fault.
“Now, what is wrong with you?”
Marian’s reprimand was followed by Prim. Prim said he had stomped his feet in the woods. She seemed completely untrustworthy, but Reynsis was able to change the subject by pretending to be hurt by the wound.
She managed to get back to Reynsis’s room. Marian, who came in with the aid kit, said that she would treat him.
Prim shook her head, saying she should treat him. Because the wound on Reynsis body made it obvious that he was hit by an arrow.
After barely letting Marian out, Prim sat face to face in front of him.
Daphs was clever enough to hit a spot that didn’t seem obvious enough.
But fighting with him, she had a slight scratch on her face, probably because she was being pushed on the ground.
It was time for Prim to apply ointment on his face and on his fingers.
“Get out.”
He shot sharply towards Prim.
She shook her head. Prim gave a clear answer.
“No.”
“- What?”
“If I don’t treat you, you will treat your wound roughly.”
How did she know that he had been treated roughly? Reynsis narrowed down the middle of his forehead.
Her words were true. Reynsis didn’t feel the need to treat his wound. Especially if it leaves a scar on his face.
He always hated his face. Back in the days, they always talk about his beautiful and rare face.
“I will have to take a look at it too.”
“I am telling you to get out.”
“Oh, my nose!”
It was the moment. Her nose that she puts her tissue on is getting hurt.
“My nose hurts so much!”
“…. Are you okay?”
Reynsis looked a little concerned. Looking at that awkward way of speaking, he must have felt uncomfortable.
Maybe because of him, she was getting hit instead.
This might mean that Prim should just close her eyes once and move on from the incident.
“What are you?”
His words felt strangely moving. Suddenly, Daph’s words came to his mind.
“Oh, it’s a pretty big development, though. No one’s ever given up so much to you. Right? No, everything. Is it because everyone is blind before that?”
Daphs was surprisingly true. Prim was the first person to defend him from all the abuse.
“……….”
Reynsis’s face felt a little loose. When Prim noticed the look, she quickly spread the ointment on his face.
He did not shake off her hands as before, but still seemed to be displeased, he was wearing a haughty face.
“Doesn’t it hurt?”
“……….”
He didn’t answer. Prim frowned faintly and she bit her lips like she was about to cry.
“……. I’m sorry.”
Then she apologized as if she was truly sorry. Reynsis couldn’t understand her words.
“I’ll be putting this ointment, Your Highness. Please bear with me until then.”
At first glance, she could see a wound on the back of his neck. Prim approached him slowly to aid him.
Reynsis was surprised because the two of them were so close. He felt breathless because her breath touched his ear.
I have to be careful. It must be hurt if you touch the wound carelessly.
The scar was long and big, as if he had been cut off by a rock or something. She sighed faintly out of frustration.
Suddenly, he was scooted back. Reynsis escaped from Prim that made her dumbfounded.
“Now get out.”
Reynsis snatched the ointment from her hand.
“Get out.”
“But it’s not done yet.”
“But how about you treat your own face?”
She frowned hard at his excuses.
“I can take care of my face later. I will have to prioritize you first. You hurt your hand, too. Give me the ointment, Your Highness.”
“I’ll do it myself.”
“Then I will call for Marian.”
Prim said while looking at the door and ready to call his beloved Nanny. Then, Reynsis’s face became furious.
He meant that he would kill her if she called Marian. Prim has finally regained the ointment. This time he stepped down without a hitch and obediently sat in front of her.
‘Daphs certainly have kicked his stomach’
If it could be wrong, this could be led to a fatal injury.
Prim frowned and removed his shirt carefully. His body was full of scars. She was shocked as she opened his eyes wide.
“Did Daphs do this?”
“……….”
She didn’t realize that she was speaking without honorifics towards the royal.
She quickly corrected her speeches.
“Oh, no, I’m sorry. Is this what Prince Daphs did?”
“No.”
He shook his head firmly, cutting Prim off. Then, he uttered a shocking remark.
“I did it.”
Reynsis’s face was so calm when he said that to her. As if nothing was wrong with his action.
—-
‘The Empire will be coloured with blood’
Reynsis struggled to avoid the prophecy. He had lived in shadow so that he could not kill anyone with his own hands, and was extremely reluctant to touch others. She just thought it was all her faults to begin with.
But after the day when Daphs were murdered by him, Reynsis saw the colour of red, as a blood.
As he does not believe in the prophecy, he ends up hurting himself.
‘No, this is not blood, I will not grow up like the prophecy. I won’t grow as they say.’
“I, I -“
‘Will I grow up like that?’
—-
After so much suffering and despair, he ends up accepting that he can see the color of red.
‘Because of me.’
Prim heart sank as she thought of that.
“Reynsis.”
She called his name without realizing it. Then Reynsis frowned and pulled down his shirt.
“As expected, it’s growing well. What do you think? Are you a little scared now?”
After he had ridiculed himself, he snatched the ointment from Prim’s hand.
“Now, get lost.”2
A cold voice stabbed her in the heart. But Prim couldn’t hate him. This all happened because of her.
‘My beast…’
A world of black and white. A Beauty and withered rose whose existence is unknown.
Prim wanted to help him to differentiate color somehow. She wanted to let him know how beautiful the world is.
“Your Highness..”
Prim held him by his hands. Their cold skins touched each other. Reynsis’s hazy gray eyes glanced at her as he weakly frowned.
“Let me help you.”
When he saw Prim’s eyes, his wrinkled face slowly calmed down.
Reynsis didn’t avoid her gaze, but somehow she looked angry. They looked at each other silently for a while.
“- What can you do?”
It’s been a while since he opened his mouth. There was a feeling of motivation in his voice.
“Some madman’s words become Prophecy because of the only color I could see. And I was abandoned here. All the fuss didn’t get any better. No matter how hard I live, I’m a disaster in the Empire. What can you do for me even if I live like that?”
He felt like giving up and laughed at himself.
Prim expression become more serious than before as she speaks firmly,
“I will tell you what I can do for you and you can do it! Please trust me just this once, Your Highness.”
Reynsis was displeased with the determined black eyes staring at him. His heart was pounding as he seemed to be in a bad mood.
What on earth are you so persistent for?
He couldn’t even imagine that this situation would come.
Her nosebleed face, the badly torn dress, her messy hair, that reckless mouth that let out his secret –
Her arms that wrapped around him and protected him without hesitation.
– He felt a strange sensation.
“Your Highness.”
Prim called him again. Reynsis blinked several times, as if he had thought of something else in his mind.
“… What if the Prophecy is correct?”
“………”
“If the prophecy is right, you will die first. Because you are closer to me.”
It’s been a while since he spoke so much. It was a voice that was a little soft and hopeful.
Prim smiled with a determined face.
“Don’t worry because that would never happen!”
It was a brave answer. She was so confident as her eyes glistened.
But her stubbornness was not as unpleasant as before. So Reynsis has decided to believe her.
He nodded slowly.
“Do you believe me? Can I really help you?!”
Prim exclaimed as she was overjoyed.
Reynsis quietly stared at her.
‘Why are you so happy about it?’
[ STING ]
‘What is this pain in my eyes?’
He blinked once. Blurry, He felt like he could see something.5
The stinging pain in his eyes got worse. His face paled as he frowned faintly.
But even before the cause of his pain could be the determination as the strange sensation had disappeared.
