(Author note: poll for element above I’ll put it in the authors thought section at the end as well.)
The next day Godric came and gave me a lesson similar to Salazar. We all know that DADA is a class that teaches defense magic to protect yourself from the dark arts. Care of Magical Creatures is an elective that I didn’t plan on studying until I got to the third year books. It’s what it sounds like just like DADA. After those explanations came the good stuff.
“Dueling is a formal practice in wizarding culture in which two or more wizards or witches engage in combat under the condition that only magical means can be used. The combatants face each other and bow, as a sign of respect, before they place themselves in an accepted combative position and, at the count of three, attempt to disarm, stun, injure, defeat, or kill each other in order to force submission, and thus a winner is decided. We will go over spell combinations and exercises to make you unstoppable. Maybe we can enter you in a few competitions once you’re up to snuff.” He explained.
The lesson ended and Godric leaves reminding me to get practice swords for the next lesson. Another day went by and Helga came this time.
“Sit down and we’ll begin. While studying potions you will learn the process of brewing. You will follow specific recipes and use various magical ingredients to create the potions, starting with simple ones and moving to more advanced ones as you progress in knowledge. A standard potions kit includes plant ingredients such as Belladonna and supplies such as glass vials and weighing scales, along with a standard cauldron. I will give you a list of what’s needed for our future lessons before leaving today.”
“Herbology is the study of magical plants and fungi, including their care and their magical properties and uses. Some magical plants form important ingredients in potions, others have magical effects in their own right. Does your family own any greenhouses? (I nod) Good, we will hold herbology lesson there then make sure you’re stocked once again I’ll leave a list.”
“Ancient runes are a form of writing which witches and wizards used hundreds of years ago. Lessons involve plenty of practice translating runes. Runes are mainly used in Rituals, Warding, and Curse breaking. You will only need parchment ink and a brush for future lessons.” she explained gave me a list then left. Yet another day goes by and the only one left Rowena comes to teach me.
“Let’s start with charms, shall we. A charm is a spell that adds certain properties to an object or individual. Charms are different from transfigurations in that a charm adds or changes the properties of an object; it focuses on altering what the object does as opposed to what the object is. For example, the Colour Change Charm causes something to flash different colors and the Levitation Charm causes an object to levitate and the Cheering Charm improves upon a creature’s mood. An object or individual that has a lasting charm placed on it or them is called bewitched” she said making my coffee table change colors then float. Finally, she casts a cheering charm on Mimsy making her smile happily.
“Let’s move on to my favorite Transfiguration. Transfiguration is a branch of magic that focuses on the alteration of the form or appearance of an object, via the alteration of the object’s molecular structure. Transfiguration can be done to most if not all objects. You are never to use transfiguration on a living being especially yourself. The same goes for transforming anything into a liquid. The liquid would evaporate and fill the air and anyone’s lungs in the area. Imagine you turn wood into water then that water evaporates and you breathe it in then your spell wears off you now have wood in your lungs. Transfiguration is regarded as very hard work and more scientific than any other form of magic.”
“Next subject, Arithmancy is a method of divination to help predict trends in the future. Predicting the future can be used in conjunction with other forms of magic to increase your power or chances of success. For example, if you’re going to make a love potion for someone you fancy, wouldn’t it be helpful to know what day they’re more likely to be in a receptive mood? Or if you’re going to execute a ritual wouldn’t you want to know what day and time that ritual would give the most benefits?”
“Alchemy is a branch of magic and an ancient science concerned with the study of the composition, structure and magical properties of the four basic elements fire, earth, water, and air, as well as the transmutation of substances it is strongly connected with Potion-making, chemistry, and transfiguration. As such you won’t be practicing any alchemy until your understanding of these subjects is up to my standards.”
“The goal of the majority of alchemists is the transmutation of common metals into Gold or Silver and the creation of a panacea a remedy that supposedly would cure all diseases and prolong life indefinitely. No one ever accomplished either in my lifetime” she explained.
“its been accomplished already. A man named Nicolas Flamel made the stone about 600 years ago give or take. He’s still alive to this day with his wife Perenelle Flamel. Though from what I hear they look like walking zombies.” I said. After that, the lesson ended and I could relax for a bit.
(one-year time skip-Harry 8 years old)
A year passed with constant lessons from the founders. From what they say I’m the only person to be an apprentice to all four of them. During the year I mastered Parselmagic it wasn’t hard in the first place. I wasn’t too happy about yelling my attacks but the only person that would understand it is Voldemort. Legilimency isn’t too hard either Salazar had me use muggles with life in prison to get the hang of it at first. I may have scrambled a few brains but hey, you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. I feel as though I could improve Legilimency somehow I’m just not sure how.
I also performed my first sacrifice well, more like practice sacrifice. Salazar wanted me to get used to killing animals for the sacrifices I’d perform in the future. So we started with a chicken and worked our way up. I teared up a little after killing the chicken but got over it quickly. Later when I fried him up I couldn’t help but thank him for his noble sacrifice. Blood magic is a little tricky but nothing I can’t handle. The trick is to extract blood ahead of time so you’re not cutting yourself up every time you need blood for your magic. Salazar also taught me some magical first aid just in case I run out of stored blood and need to get it the old fashioned way.
My studies on the basic classes at Hogwarts are going nicely thanks to actually having teachers now. Care of magical creatures is interesting I’m thinking of getting a dragon somehow. I asked Salazar if dragons could speak Parseltongue he said he never tried. I should test it when Hagrid gets the dragon egg and maybe steal it too. Dueling was rough at first because Godric had me doing all these exercises. Now If I don’t get my exercise in, I feel uncomfortable. Their not crazy bodybuilding workouts though I’m only eight years old after all. The spell combinations aren’t that hard. I just had to memorize and practice them.
I bought a couple of wooden practice swords for Godric’s Swordsmanship lessons. I enjoy sword fighting immensely and I plan on becoming a master. Potions aren’t hard at all it’s exactly like cooking while following a recipe just way more detailed. I don’t know how Neville could possibly mess this up. Arithmancy and runes are confusing but I think I’m getting the hang of it. I’ve barely done anything in alchemy and rituals because I’m supposed to reinforce my knowledge in other subjects first. Besides that everything else is easy.
I’ve trained the strength of my telekinesis as well. I cast a weight charm on the coins I use to train. Still spinning half clockwise and the other half counterclockwise. I could now control a thousand coins with the spinning technique each coin weighing one ton. And last but not least I finished my sentry gun maze. The maze is huge and the sentry guns are embedded in the walls. All you can see on the walls is the holes for the bullets to escape. Each hallway has thermals, motion sensors, and cameras that trigger the sentry guns. I even have microphones connected to them so if someone somehow gets passed everything else a single footstep will flood the hallway with bullets.
