I’m Not Good at Offensive Magic, but I’ll Do My Best With Support Magic! - CH 51
Now it is time to implement the plan. We are waiting in the basement connected to the lord’s mansion, ready to move at any time.
「Are you ready?」
「No problem」
「I can go anytime」
「It’s okay, desu」
Kiara-chan seems a little nervous. She is going back to the place where she was held captive again, so perhaps that fear is coming back.
「It’s okay. We’ll protect you」
「Yuan’s defensive magic is first class」
「And enchantment magic」
「Auxiliary magic is the only thing I’m good at. I’ll leave the rest to you」
「We’ll work hard on the rearguard!」
As planned the other day, Kiara-chan has a bow in her hand. I asked her to show me her skill, and she looks like a proper elf. When she shoots an arrow at a target, it sticks in the target as if it is being absorbed.
When we went to hunt monsters outside the city to check how well we worked with each other, an arrow passed through Shia-san and Snow-san as they were moving. I was surprised, especially the two of them.
「I know Yuan is not used to it, but keep at it」
「Yes, using a wand as a medium increases the effectiveness and power of my magic, but it takes extra effort, which I have to get used to quickly」
I bought a wand too. They bought it for me! I have a beginner’s wand with me because it’s my first time. There were many different types of wands. Items were sold according to the magician’s style, such as a wand made from a tree branch, a staff that is considered to be held by a typical magician, and a mace, which was also designed to take into account blows to protect oneself. I have a wand called a staff, which is a type of straight stick with a rounded tip and a magic stone fitted into it.
「Yuan-san’s should have been cuter」
「Simple is best」
「Choose again」
My equipment is sufficient for this. I feel rather more stable without it.
「Do you have the route in mind?」
「It’s all right」
I have most of the lord’s mansion in my head. By today, Ladi-kun has used his subordinates to show us the structure of the basement and the pavilion. I was surprised, though, when he started drawing a map on a piece of parchment with a pen!
「Now we just have to wait for the movements on the surface」
「Kiara, have you heard from Ladi?」
「Not yet」
To ensure the information is correct, a probe is being used to check the end of the waterway at the same time as reporting from Ladi-kun. All that remains is to wait.
「Dju!」
After waiting there for a while, a Demonic Rat approached us in a panic.
「Ladi… -kun, not」
「What’s wrong?」
「Djiyu! Djiyu!」
It spins around on the spot, trying to tell us something.
「Something happened」
「Kiara-chan, we need Ladi-kun please!」
「Yes!」
Ladi-kun is not here to command the Demonic Rats. I asked Kiara-chan to summon him to hear what happened.
「Ladi…… Come!」
「Dju!」
Thanks to repeated practice, Kiara-chan’s summoning technique have progressed to the point where she can summon by name.
「Ladi, what happened?」
「Before they were able to move, the Resistance were caught」
Apparently, the Resistance movements have been caught in the act, and the Knights made their move just before the Resistance got into the pavilion.
「They’re battling in front of the mansion」
「We’d better hurry, it looks bad.vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv」
「Shia, what’s going on in the basement?」
「Two lookouts」
Apparently, the situation on the surface was not reported to the lookouts.
「We don’t have a choice, let’s keep going.」
「Un」
It wasn’t the original plan, but we decided to go ahead. Now that the battle on the surface has started, it may become a fight for every second… every minute.
「Kiara, activate it」
「I understand!」
Kiara-chan presses a switch on the wall. At that moment, water parted to the left and right and a staircase could be seen.
「Let’s go all at once!」
Shia-san and Snow-san took the lead and we followed.
「Shia-san, there’s a trap ahead!」
「Understood」
They must already know that the tunnel has been opened, and I think the trap is laid to buy them time to call their allies or set up an ambush position. That’s distasteful. However, the accelerated Shia-san stepped through the traps that were set………… one after another.
「You’re still a force to be reckoned with」
The usual way to avoid traps is to disarm them or be careful not to activate them. However, Shia-san found a different way. It is a strategy that does not matter if it does not work. When either the activated bow or the falling rock are activated, Shia-san is already gone. In this way, one trap after another is disabled.
「It’s a time saver」
「It’s hard to get past them!」
Falling rocks are particularly troubling. This is because obstacles are created in front of us. The obstacles, coupled with Shia-san’s speed, are causing the distance between us and Shia-san to grow.
「Shia, you’re too far ahead!」
「…… Not」
It sounded like you said it wasn’t a problem, but this needs a scolding later! Following Shia-san, the three of us run through the tunnel. Shia-san is already out of sight.
「I see stairs. They’re both behind me, on their guard」
It appears that Shia-san climbed the stairs first.
「Slow」
When we reached the stairs and looked up, we saw Shia-san standing there.
「Where’s the lookouts?」
「Finished」
When we climbed the stairs, the lookouts were already bleeding and lying on the floor. However, one of them is lying in front of the door, perhaps to call for support. It looks like she just made it time.
「It’s okay, my subordinates have suppressed the door」
Ladi-kun was the most outstanding. It seems that the Demonic Rats suppressed the lookouts from behind the door so that they could not get out.
「Ladi’s great」
「Dju!」
Kiara-chan pets Ladi-kun in a complimentary manner.
「Yuan, what about me?」
「Shia-san will be lectured later for doing something dangerous on her own!」
「I did my best」
It’s fine to push yourself, but you can’t take risks.
「In the meantime, have we made it through the break-in as planned?」
「But we don’t have much time」
「Above, they’re pushing」
If Ladi-kun’s information is correct, it is only a matter of time before the Resistance are defeated.
「What do we do? Should we split up and provide cover?」
Kiara-chan is anxious, but if two of us go to cover the situation, things might change somewhat.
「No problem. We’ll proceed as planned」
「But…」
「Everyone in the Resistance was ready for this, we’ll do what we can do」
「Yes」
「Either way, we’ve got to move on」
There is only one way forward, even if it is to provide backup.
「I’ll take the lead, Shia take the back」
「…… Understood」
「Shia-san, I’ve got your back」
「Leave it to me!」
Her face changed from one of disappointment to one of motivation when I asked her to do so. I suppose people have to see it to understand it. I can see it, though.
「As per information」
A passageway led to a number of rooms, divided into left and right sections. As per the information gathered by Ladi-kun, the girls seem to be locked up in separate rooms.
「Keys?」
「None」
The problem is that all rooms are locked. It’s not a surprise, though.
「What should we do?」
「Don’t hesitate」
「Right. Let’s break them down」
It’s the lord who will get in trouble if the door is broken down. We don’t have to worry about it.
「Please wait for a while」
There may be some kind of mechanism on the door, just to make sure. If a trap or magic is triggered as soon as the door is broken, it would be dangerous.
「There seems to be no problem」
「Understood」
「Shia-san, there are people inside, so be careful, okay?」
「Un. Yuan, enchantment magic, please」
「I understand」
If you are going to break down doors with a sword, 【Slash】 with increased sharpness seems to be the way to go.
「Good」
Shia-san slashed at the door with her two swords. The door appeared to be made of steel, but the places where she cut them fell off slyly.
