I’m The Boss’s Secretary?! - Chapter 378
Half an hour before the incident started, Gun Nam was standing between the high purebloods. He had came to start his talk, developing his social cycle.
Lee Young and Yeseul held hands as they both talked to each other, standing not too far from Gun Nam and the man noticed Lee Young after a while.
With a smile, Gun Nam proceed to walk toward them. He lightly tapped Lee Young’s shoulder, gathering his attention. In response, Lee Young turned his head, looking at the vampire.
“Mr. Gun,” Lee Young greeted with a smile, “Congratulation for you ascension.”
Gun Nam offered Lee Young the same polite smile, “I wouldn’t say I am very happy with this.”
Yeseul raised her eyebrows, “Why not? I think it is almost everyone’s wish to acquire a higher position and to become a leader.”
Gun Nam finally turned his gaze to Yeseul; appearing as if he finally noticed her. “You are…”
“Elizabeth, Lee Young’s friend from abroad,” Yeseul smiled. “Unfortunately, I lost my eyes to the witchess. Else I would be able to fulfill the curiosity I have upon wondering what you look like.”
“I can describe him for you, Elizabeth. Mr. Gun Nam is…” Lee Young circled his hand on the air, trying to find the right word. “Very vampire-like. Very normal I should say.”
Yeseul can’t stopped the chuckle before it passed from her lips. She knew that very normal in Lee Young’s words meant not impressive enough to be commented. Gun Nam narrowed his eyes when the woman started to laugh wondering what she meant by the laugh.
“I think that means you are a very impressive person, Mr. Gun. It’s nice to meet you,” Yeseul reached out her hand for Gun Nam to hold it back and return the handshake.
“I want to know, Gun Nam,” Lee Young then said. “How did you catch Jeoknim? Knowing him it must have been difficult.”
“We were lucky,” came the practiced line that Gun Nam had prepared as people who met him draw back and forth the same question. “There was someone who had helped us in finding Jeoknim’s location when he was about to escape.”
“Oh? And who might that be?” Lee Young questioned with interest.
“I don’t think I should say this to you—”
“I promise to keep a secret or do you not believe in me?” taunted Lee Young. His eyes had turned red enough to defeat the brightness of Gun Nam’s eyes. “Jeoknim is now in prison and I see that person as a hero to our society. Why the need to keep his identity a secret?”
“I would also like to know who it is. I am sure everyone is as well,” Yeseul said the words aloud for the people who had idly eavesdropping to their conversation to catch her words.
“If it is you, I am certain I can put my trust in you,” Gun Nam conceded after a while. “It is Chung Gon.”
Lee Young’s expression didn’t change and he only hummed, “I see. No offense but honestly I have never seen him as the hero type although now I for sure could see that courageous trait in him. Once again I want to say congratulation to you, Gun Nam. You finally got what you wished for.”
Gun Nam had been smiling but over the last sentence Lee Young uttered, the smile on his face faltered and he looked at the pureblood with a blank look.
“We should see each other soon again,” Lee Young offered the man a smile as Yeseul did as well before they made their way out of the crowds.
“Do you know who Chun Gon is?” Yeseul questioned after a while. She didn’t mistaken it as she was certain she had heard the faint change in tone of Lee Young when the man’s name was mentioned.
“He is someone…” Lee Young sighed, “He is someone who love my niece a lot. I thought he had that feeling at least not until he sold Hwa into the Associates.”
“Your niece?” Yeseul questioned, not knowing who he meant.
“Hwa’s mother,” Lee Young replied and he was about to delve further into explanation when from the corner of his eyes, he noticed the people who had been following Gun Nam had disappeared. “Have you noticed something moving now?”
“The doors,” Yeseul answered in response, “My whispers tells me that the doors are locked.”
“It’s going to start,” Lee Young announced, loosening his arm for Yeseul to leave his hand. “Are you prepared?”
“Mhm,” Yeseul crack her fingers. “It’s been a long time I have done this. Will you be alright? There are mostly people whom you know here.”
“I don’t care,” Lee Young replied, “I don’t know them that well to mourn for them but I will bear the guilt.”
Yeseul gave her thoughts to her words when all of a sudden a sharp screamed echoed from the far left side of the staircase. A woman had fallen on the ground, her body spasm and quake on the floor.
“Bring the vampire doctor!” yelled one of the vampires who seemed to know the woman. “We need help for her!”
“I will get the doctor here— Ahh!! What is that?!” The other man who had offered the help had his eyes widened while he stared at the back of the man.
The man frowned, slowly turning his head to his back only to have his eyes widened when he met eyes with the woman who had laid on the ground. Her red eyes grew dimmer but at the same time fierce.
With quick movements, she clawed her fingers out, aiming to slice her husband’s neck. But that wasn’t the only incident happening in the ballroom as another sequence of screams followed after.
All the people around them begin to fall one by one. Then it was time for the people next to those who had fell on the ground to scream for help.
The people who had fallen on the ground stood back on their feet once again. Their claws had grown sharper and black in color, their fangs large like a wolf’s where drolls covered their teeth. A look of monstrous look were on their gazes.
Yeseul couldn’t see but she could tell for certain that some of the purebloods in the room had lost the hold on their sanity. But the people who suffers the most were those who were standing at the position near their friends and families who had suddenly lose consciousness and spasm. They were all happy and relieved when they saw their dearest ones had woken up from the brief illness, but in fact, it was the opposite.
By the time the ones who fell woke up, there was a look of anger and hunger on their faces. It was as if they had been exempted from filling their stomach for days; looking very hungry and forced. Their eyes lost all reason and all they could see was foods all around them to quench the burning thirst they felt itching on their throat.
When the infected saw the vampires surrounding them, they would immediately pull and drag the other people around them to be eaten and drink their blood on.
In instances the ballroom turned into a scene of death with sixty of more people had been infected whilenthe rest were out to fend for themselves.
Stains of blood was everywhere as all vampires had to fend themselves from the people who had suddenly been infected by something.
Yeseul also noticed that when she caught the next of a man, she could feel the man’s veins underneath her palm, “There is no cure for this!” Yeseul yelled as she dodged the dangerous attack of an infected vampire.
“There is, isn’t it?” Lee Young voice came near her and she turned her head to look at Lee Young who was holding to a person’s head with only a single hand. He turned his head to Yeseul, raising the same head he held before smashing it to the wall until the vampire didn’t move p. We need to kill them as soon as possible. It’s a difficult job but we can also help the people from dying by doing so.”
“I get it,” Yeseul raised his hand together and from below the floor glowed. Slowly thick green thorns stepped out from the floor and went to stop the infected by holding them down with the thorns. Some of them tried to break free from her thorns but Yeseul had been prepared for it that taking down the thorns was impossible in the hunters’ current condition.
Lee Young looked around the ballroom before narrowing his eyes when he noticed Gun Nam had left the place.
“I will have to go and chase after him, can you handle this alone?” questioned Lee Young as he took down seven infected purebloods at the same time and speed.
“Don’t worry,” Yeseul offered Lee Young a smile, “I am used to killing people that I won’t make a slightest mistake.
Back in the cell room where Jung Hwa and Seoyeon standing at; Seoyeon couldn’t help but questioned what the man meant with his words.
“What do you mean by danger, who is in danger?”
“Gun Nam…..” Gwe Jeoknim said the words in a great difficulty. “He plans to kill are pureblood to make certain everyone would now bow under his feet! You need to go now and stop the party!”
