I’m The Boss’s Secretary?! - Chapter 389
Seoyeon now looked at Taein who had the same exact markings on his arm that was similar to the ones she saw in Haneul’s memories. The same markings that would cause the bearer’s organs to bleed out and die under the span of a minute.
But why Taein? Wasn’t the twins were her only descendants?
Then came the thought of Seoyeon that reconsider her own question. This was the late Queen; the woman can sacrifice anything for her own greed why wouldn’t she sacrifice her own son? But for what?
“Ever since you ran away, she went unstable,” Taein said with a smile to Taehyung, “It’s too late. From now on by helping me you are only trying to help yourself from shouldering the guilt of leaving me here. I am not capable of running away from here. You knew that but you still left me here.”
Taehyung shut his eyes, “I couldn’t bring you out here even when I wanted to. It was difficult for me to get out here,” but that wasn’t his excuse. “I also wanted to release you Taein—”
“I have stopped trusting brother,” Taein stopped Taehyung from completing his words. “It’s now only death or death and I prefer to be as selfish as you are, disregarding my brother’s life for the sake of my own life.”
Jung Hwa who was beside Seoyeon held her wrist. She turned and looked at him as it was the thing she did the most. “We should leave them here. Problems like these can only be solved by the two of them.”
Seoyeon knew Jung Hwa was speaking on his own experience. Giving him a prompt nod, they left to the second floor by the stairs.
There was a lot of witches in the field, causing them to reach the floor later than they expected. Seoyeon used her power to throw most of the black witches from the second floor to the first for the hunters who had entered the battle to take care; while Jung Hwa killed most of them on even number with Lee Young.
Reaching the second floor, they were faced with two paths from their right and left.
“We will take the left,” Lee Young announced and giving Yeseul one look, they quickly left the place.
Seoyeon also nodded at Jung Hwa as they went to the right corridor with their goal in mind to find the mistress and kill her for good.
In the meantime away from the house, Chung Gon sneaked inside the small hut and opened the door only to find the Mistress sitting on the chair in front of a broken table.
“You are late,” the mistress said, one of her well shaped eyebrows raised in question.
“There was something I had to do,” answered Chung Gon without looking out of place. He then took off his coat, putting it aside. “Why are you alone here, Mistress? The letter said I should come here as there were meetings between you and the other black witches.”
The Mistress didn’t answer but show him a smile. “Gun Nam is currently on our resident on the edge of death but you still have things to do? Now I am curious to know what it is.”
“It’s nothing too special, mistress. You won’t even like hearing it,” answered Chung Gon. Instead of making his way to sit in front of the woman, he had chosen to stand as if readying himself to flee which the two knew.
Gradually their conversation grew tenser. With both knowing what the others have found out and think in their mind.
“I don’t mind. I have seen and listen to much worse things than what you expect me to not know. I want to know what is more important to you than staying with your master back in the mansion and now instead walking all around the places as if you have some plan in the back of your mind?”
“Plan? You’re joking. I only have the same purpose as you, Mistress. All I want is my own revenge,” answered Chung Gon, “To Gwe Jeoknim who had sentenced my family to death.”
“Really?” The Mistress raised her brows again. “Is it not your true purpose to kill the witches?”
Chung Gon stared back at the woman’s eyes that were studying his expression. “Far from it. I trust that the witches are my only allies whom I can trust in their power. Why would I want to ever kill the witches?”
“For example,” the mistress stated, “You don’t actually want revenge for your family but the woman who was your first love. Sadly that woman never chooses you and yet you still loved her with all your souls. Her death was caused by us and now you are here, trying to become our ally to backstab me?”
“A fine lore, mistress. Maybe beings a novelist work better than a witch for your. But I am not sure I get what you meant. Did you forgot how my family had been working for you? They allowed you to find the locations of purebloods because we believe that only the witches can help us to survive in this world. It’s more than trust, we worship you and yet now you doubt me, mistress?”
“Yes of course I remember your family. They were a very fine family and had helped me with some of my works. Sadly Gwe Jeoknim found out about them. I trusted you Chung Gon.”
“Trusted,” repeated Chung Gon, “Does that mean you don’t trust me now?”
“I would have trusted you again if only you had—” The Mistress’s eyes then fell on his coat on his arm, “—not came back with that catalyst’s scent on your body. You met them, didn’t you? Taking off your coat doesn’t help fool.”
Chung Gon who looked at the Mistress with a smile slowly dropped the corner of his lips. “Shit,” he remarked with a deadpanned look on his face. “I thought I hid it well. Though I do expect you to know it soon it’s not now that I expected you to. Who told you about my first love? Why? Do you also want to be my first love.”
The Mistress chuckled as if she didn’t mind Chung Gon’s cockiness. “I wouldn’t want to seeing how your first love died. As for who had told me. It was him you know.”
Chung Gon pulled his twitched brows and turned his face behind him when at. The same time he felt a blunt pain on his stomach. Turning, he was met with a pair of red eyes, “You—”
