I’m The Boss’s Secretary?! - Chapter 390
Seeing the person behind him Chung Gon’s expression was stunned. “Gu Manyeong—” he called the man’s name before falling on his knees, spewing blood all over the floor.
“Surprised?” The Mistress chuckled as she walked forward. Catching Chung Gon’s face and flipped it harshly, “Don’t be fooled and think that I never knew what you have been planning all this time, Chung Gon. Much more than you thought, I know what is running in your mind even without magic. Did you think Manyeong is your ally? He has never been one.”
“But—” Chung Gon’s red eyes stared at Gu Manyeong’s red ones, the other one in disbelief while the other had a relaxed expression.
“Do you know what I always do to traitors, Gon?” Mistress questioned, “I usually take out their insides, rip their hearts, and decorate their eyeballs out of their sockets. But you,” the woman chuckled, “You exceed what anyone have done to me. I should indeed give you a praise. What do you want, Gon? Seeing this is your last wish, I might be able to grant it for you.”
Chung Gon again laughed in response under Mistress’s stare.
“There is indeed one thing that I want and one thing you can do for me,” Chung Gon said and when the woman raised one of her brows, he said, “I would like you to put away that ugly face of yours away from me.”
The Mistress ground her teeth, “Cocky child you will beg my forgiveness for those words you utter!”
In the mansion away from Chung Gon and the rest, Seoyeon slide inside the door, opening to see no one. Behind her, Jung Hwa was holding to the head of a black witch and pulled him across the floor before throwing him to the floor below.
“No one is here,” Seoyeon announced. “Do you think they ran away.”
“Witches have pride but they love their life more, maybe they did run knowing you are here now,” agreed Jung Hwa and he hummed.
Seoyeon heard the faint melody between his lips as they moved across the corridors, opening and closing the doors to find the mistress while at times meeting and defeating the enemies.
“About Chung Gon,” Seoyeon then started, “Do you know that he had been planning for all of this?”
Jung Hwa exchanged his gaze toward Seoyeon and his lips were set in a thin line, “No,” he answered, “All this time, he had been nothing but a self centered person to me but I know about his relationship with my mother. We have met a few times long when she was still alive.”
A few times was what Jung Hwa said but Seoyeon could feel that Jung Hwa and Chung Gon once shared a relationship that was more than a stranger perhaps a friend, older brother, or an uncle-like existence.
Jung Hwa said, “Even in the eyes of children, I can tell how deeply in love he was with my mother.”
Seoyeon then recalled the conversation they had before raiding the Mistress’s house. It was a few hours before. When the door opened, Seoyeon was surprised to see Chung Gon entering the room.
She shared a look to Lee Young who smiled in response as if he knew she would look at him to find her answer.
“Mr. Chung Gon. As everyone might think he is a vampire who worked together with the witches, in truth, he is Gwe Jeoknim’s most loyal subordinate.”
Others was confused as well as Seoyeon as she thought the man was her enemy.
“I’m sorry if I had surprised you all. And for not being able to release Gwe Jeoknim on the prescribe time.”
“That one can’t be helped,” Deok Ji Hyeang spoke from the side, “At that time your were also busy trying to distract that man.”
“Wait,” Seoyeon stopped them, “I don’t think I understand what is happening. So Chung Gon isn’t our enemy.”
“Far from it,” answered Lee Young. “As we all know, the Associates are built with walls but there are some cracks on our walls that causes some of our people to betray us such as for greed, envy, or personal revenge. Chung Gon has his own work as a mole.”
“I’m a crook, therefore, no one would question a crook working with the evil, right?” Chung Gon questioned with a grin but Jung Hwa stared at him with a stale look on his face, appearing as if he wasn’t interested in it.
Chung Gon who noticed this heaved a deep breath. Lee Young watched what was going on but took his feet outside their problems. He then continued his explanation, “Today, Chung Gon who had been inside and around the house would be explaining to us the tight security inside the Mistress’s mansion…”
When they stepped out of the room, Jung Hwa left after Seoyeon. She didn’t know what to say about Chung Gon but she could tell that Jung Hwa wasn’t in a very good mood. They had just took the right turn from the door when they met up with Chung Gon who had leaned his back on the wall. He pushed himself from it.
“We need to talk,” Chung Gon said.
“Is this because you want to avenge my mother? I thought you suspect me as the murderer, Gon,” there was a slight mock on his tone as he questioned Chung Gon for it. But Seoyeon identify the tone as spiteful. Like a child who was holding grudge, but she wouldn’t call Jung Hwa as a child for he had a reason to be angry toward Chung Gon.
Chung Gon for a moment looked troubled, “I have never wanted to pose you as one. But the evidences and with how the witches’ existence are kept as a secret, there was only a few things I can help you from the Associate. But I swear, at that time I had a plan in mind to get you out of the court. Although I can’t stop it I was prepared—”
“I don’t need to hear it,” Jung Hwa answered then. “I already made peace with that one. You have your own ideas and goals, but remember to not do this simply because you loved my mother and regret after doing it. Even before her death, she was genuinely worried for you.” And saying that Jung Hwa urned away.
Seoyeon smiled at Chung Gon, “That is his way to warn you to be careful. I know this isn’t my business, Mr. Chung but I think Jung Hwa really care for you, maybe as a friend. Come back safely.” She wished.
Chung Gon slowly formed his lips into a soft smile, “I am genuinely thankful to you, Miss Seoyeon for being there for him.. I also wish you the best.”
