I’m The Boss’s Secretary?! - Chapter 396
Taein stared back at Taehyung with the same contempt. There was anger but also an indescribable emotions which only Taehyung could read through.
“What happened when I left? How did she- how did that woman placed this mark on you?” Taehyung demanded for answer. Was this the reason why Taein had killed Seulgi as well.
While some see it as wrong for him to make reason against his little brother’s murder, Taehyung had grown up alongside Taein and he knew better than others how despite Taein’s current personality, in the past, Taein was a meeker younger brother.
However, it all changes once Taehyung finally stepped out of the house which he had been planning to do. It was ten years after his escape that he crossed path with Taein again. And it happened around seventy years ago. Taehyung was making his round to the market, trying to be discreet as he does so. Despite having freed himself fm the clutches of his pasts, Taehyung still had to protect himself from his mother’s watchful eyes.
Unlike all children, Taehyung as well as Taein learned to fear their mother rather than loving the woman. The fear of his own mother rooted since Taehyung was a child. He never knew the face of his father but he heard that his father was a white witch.
But it wasn’t until he passed the age of sixteen did he learned the horrid truth of his birth. Indeed, he possessed the blood of a witch, a white witch which was his father. But unlike how other children was brought to the world, he had been created using the remains of his own father.
When Taehyung learned this he tried to hide the fact from Taein. He never wanted his brother to ever learn of the guilt that he also felt when learning their life was made in exchange for their own father’s.
Yet one day, less than a week after he learned the secret, their mother had gathered them in the study room. The time with their mother had been stifling and hard to breathe in but this time, Taehyung felt utterly disgusted. Accompanied by the disgust and fear was also the urge to stay away from the house and further away from the eyes of the Mistress.
Taehyung had a bad premonition of his mother’s reason for calling them into the study room and it was confirmed when the woman spoke, “Today I will be honest with you my children.”
Taehyung heart raced. He had now seen his mother’s true color and wondered if she still hold a hidden secret against them… the secrets which was as terrible as the one he had just learned.
“What is it mother?” Taein questioned with a smile. Though Taein feared his mother as much as Taehyung was, he still respected and love his mother.
Taehyung was worried if his brother would be disappointed soon without knowing the rift that was about to set difference between them.
Compared to what Taehyung expected, the Mistress came forward and told them about the truth of their birth. Taehyung clenched his hands as he listened to what his mother had to say. He feared that Taein would be tricked from shock similar to how he felt a week ago.
But that day, Taehyung didn’t mistaken it. He saw Taein appearing as unbothered as ever as if he didn’t heard what their mother said when Taein was in a sound condition to understand well enough of what their mother said even though their mother hadn’t put a sobbing story as an excuse to kill their father to create them.
When they left the room Taehyung pulled Taein back to their room. He made sure to lock the door and put a barrier to prevent their mother from eavesdropping to their conversation.
“What’s wrong Taehyung?” Taein questioned, a little confused to see Taehyung’s ruffled expression.
“Don’t you feel anything Taein?” Taehyung asked. It was some wild guess that had been around the corner of Taehyung’s mind. Knowing how their mother was, even if she might not had given birth to them in the normal way, they still inherited part of her power, and possibly her characteristic.
It fears Taehyung to no ends that he could possess the same personality of his mother— the same blood thirsty nature that enjoy in the sadistic pleasure of seeing death to the people and torturing the innocent others.
He also feared that Taein would inherit the same characteristic. His brother was similar to him with both born as a white canvas and inked by his mother’s twisted view to the world that distorted their judgement of what was wrong and right.
What he feared came to reality as Taein with the same deer-like gaze asked him back, “What do you mean? About our father? Or our birth’s secret?”
“Both!” Taehyung urged Taein to answer his first question while his sweaty palms held his brother by his shoulders.
“Well… I don’t particularly felt anything,” Taein answered with a hum. “I have never seen our father and I don’t see why I should ever concern myself in the life and pain of others. Mother said that what is the most important to us is our own life and a small part of our large family.”
“But he is our father, Taein,” Taehyung tried to find guilt in his brother’s look. He knew he was forcing his idea but he didn’t want Taein to ever turn as wretched as their mother was.
“But brother,” Taei started and smiled, “Every humans born by given birth from their mother. It is said that by doing so, their mother was wagering their life— they were sacrificing their own life for the sake of their child. We are not much different from what I see but instead of mother sacrificing her life it was our father.”
Taehyung released his brother’s shoulder as it sunk to him that his brother’s mind had long been corrupted by the Mistress.
“Taehyung?” Taein questioned in worry, “You look pale.” The innocent question sounded only sarcastic to is ears. When Taein came closer, Taehyung raised his hand.
“No. I just need a time. I need a time, Taein. Let’s talk later.”
