I’m the Only One Who Can Put the Tyrant To Sleep - Chapter 2
“Evelyn! Come quickly!”
A little girl in a white dress beckoned to me with a bright smile.
Blue hair mixed with pale gray fluttered around her waist.
“Your Highness the Princess.”
The princess, Floria, ran to the flower bed in the corner of the garden.
“If you run like that, you’ll fall.”
“Look at this, it’s the same color as my hair!”
Floria crouched down and looked at the flowers.
“Your Highness, you’ll get dirt on your dress.”
“Gosh. It’s not that important, I told you to look at this flower.”
Floria inflated her cheeks.
I squatted next to her and looked down at the flowers. She was right. There were a lot of sky blue flowers mixed with gray.
“It’s real, though? It’s the same color as Your Highness’ hair.”
“It’s amazing, isn’t it? Can’t I just tear it off?”
“Umm…”
I looked around. This was the garden behind the Imperial Palace.
‘Strictly speaking, it’s not Floria’s property, but… Well, strictly speaking, the Imperial Palace belongs to the Imperial Family as well.’
The tear-off itself shouldn’t be a big deal.
“Do you want to leave it in your room?”
“Yes! I want to see it by my side!”
“But if you tear it off, it will wither quickly. Is that okay?”
“Why are you withering?”
Gray eyes met mine.
How to explain this, I wonder. Floria had just turned seven.
There was a separate tutor, and I was just a companion maid. I have no obligation to inform her of this knowledge.
“Your Highness will also be lonely if you leave the Imperial Palace alone without your father or mother, right?”
“Not even Evelyn is there?”
“Yes, neither do I.”
“Then I’ll feel lonely.”
“It’s the same with flowers. They have a lot of friends and family here. If it goes into your room alone, it will be lonely.”
“Is it dying from loneliness?”
“That’s right.”
“I see…”
Floria put her hands on her lap and looked at the flower. After thinking about it for a while, she said with determination.
“Then I just won’t take it.”
She’s so cute, she’s even kind.
“Instead, you can look at them every time you go out for a walk.”
“Great!”
She jumped up
“I finished looking at them today!”
“Already?”
What’s going on? Floria couldn’t easily change her mind once she got into something.
“I’m going to look at the dress!”
‘Aha, so it was because of that.’
In the distance, the maids were going to the palace of the princess with accessories and dresses.
“Let’s go in, Evelyn!”
“You’re going to fall if you run.”
Often in stride, I followed Floria.
Even if I thought about it, I had the appearance of an impeccable maid, to the extent that no one noticed that I possessed and got to this place.
I was a possessor. It was an obvious development. One day, I died and woke up here.
At first, I thought it was a dream, then I thought I was crazy. However, there was no return to the original world until the end of the year.
I had no choice but to admit it. That I really died and came here.
After acknowledging that fact, after a while, Evelyn’s memories slowly came in just as if it was mine. Thanks to this, I was able to smoothly adapt to this world.
I was the daughter of a baron, and a maid of the Imperial Palace.
Maybe it was because I liked children in my previous life, or the maid job was perfect for me.
In particular, caring for Floria felt like a game rather than a job.
Unlike other maids, Floria gradually opened her heart to me, who didn’t make her uncomfortable. We were comfortable as if we were just friends now.
“Evelyn!”
Floria, who returned to the Imperial Palace, smiled brightly as she flashed her light green dress.
“What do you think, how is it?”
“It suits you very well.”
She smiled at me.
It wasn’t a very difficult life. No, compared to my last life, it was more like a blessed life.
The baron was harmonious and economically prosperous. The maid of the Imperial Palace was also a job that was treated quite well. The princess I’m serving, Floria, was also cute and kind.
“I think Evelyn would look good in this too!”
Floria dragged me in front of the mirror and placed the dress over my body.
“It belongs to Your Highness, how can I wear it?”
“Evelyn isn’t so tall, so I think you would fit, though?”
“That’s not what I mean…”
“But, look. It has the same color as Evelyn’s eyes. I just found a flower of the same color as my hair, so this dress is for Evelyn!”
Obviously, the dress in front of me right now was similar to the color of my eyes. My eyes were also green mixed with light gray.
“Evelyn needs to wear a little more fancy dress. Or else, your pretty face would be a waste!”
What a waste of a pretty face. I stared at the mirror. My near-white, transparent silver hair fluttered from my shoulder.
The round, light green eyes shone in a variety of colors the closer they looked. Below it, my dense nose and lips were visible.
I was a little small for a sixteen-year-old, but not enough to be unnoticeable.
It’s embarrassing to say with my own mouth, but I looked pretty cute.
“What do you think? It’ll look good on you, right?”
“But it’s too small.”
“Whaaat?”
“No matter how small I am, it’s not enough for me to wear Your Highness’ clothes.”
As I spoke teasingly, Floria puffed up her cheeks.
She told me to wait and went back into the pile of dresses. She seemed eager to find a dress that would somehow fit me.
‘Now that I see it,, I can’t take the things from the Imperial Palace.’
If I say I can’t have it, she’ll cry and scream, but what can I do?
I looked in the mirror and took a deep breath. Actually, the problem wasn’t the dress. I touched the familiar face now.
Yes, there was a separate problem.
It was that I didn’t know what kind of book I possessed.
‘It’s already been a year!’
Reading romance-fantasy has been my only hobby in my previous life. The world I live in was similar to the romance-fantasies I saw in my previous life, so I was certain that I possessed someone here.
But it wasn’t easy to know where I was. Because the world in romance-fantasy was all there, and it wasn’t just one or two that I read.
‘I’ve never seen a maid as a female lead, so maybe I’m a side character.’
So far, I’ve never met anyone who could be suspected as a main character, a sub-male lead, or at least a villain.
‘At this point, are you telling me I should just live quietly here?’
I had all sorts of thoughts.
‘And why am I so pretty as a side character?’
I kept feeling anxious. Most of the maids in romance-fantasy had ordinary appearances as if they weren’t there.
Belle, Marie, Anna with brown hair and freckles…
Yet Evelyn has silver hair and light green eyes.
“Obviously, something is there.”
“What is there?”
Floria, who had just come out of her pile of dresses, suddenly showed her face.
“You surprised me, Your Highness!”
“Ta-da!”
She put a large, voluminous ribbon in my hair.
“The dress doesn’t fit, but this one will fit, right?”
Her bright red smile was very cute.
“Your Highness also, gosh.”
I didn’t hate it, so I laughed out loud.
‘Yeah, enough. Evelyn too, after all Belle is Belle. There’s no way the maids are all brunettes.’
If I couldn’t figure out where I was, I just had to live a normal life.
A long and thin extra that appears somewhere in the novel.
***
I came out of the palace and trudged through the garden.
I was on my way home from work, barely leaving Floria, who was whining for me not to go.
The maids could choose whether to commute to work or to stay in the Imperial Palace. As maids were mostly nobles, so the facilities in the dormitory were good, and most of them lived far away, that’s why they usually stayed in the palace.
However, I chose to commute to work because my home and the Imperial Palace were close, and I was still young. As I was still sixteen in this world. My family deserved to be worried.
As I walked further, I saw the flower bed where Floria and I had been crouching a few hours ago.
‘A blue flower mixed with gray. It was a color I had never seen before. What’s its name?’
She’d ask me to come out to the garden tomorrow, I should’ve just told her to tear it off and go.
It was when I got a little closer to the flower bed saying I was uselessly kind.
‘Hm?’
A boy was crouching on the flower bed. It was exactly where me and Floria were sitting.
He was looking at the same flower. The blue flowers mixed with gray.
‘He’s wearing luxurious clothes, yet the dirt is all over him.’
Like a maid in the Imperial Palace, I looked at the hem of his robe dragged on the dirt ground with sad eyes. It didn’t look well maintained for such a luxurious material.
Who the hell is he?
Come to think of it, it was quite late at night.
‘A boy who is in the Imperial Palace at this time can’t be…’
“Your Highness the Crown Prince!”
Woosh, he turned his head. In the distance, a maid was rushing towards him.
‘Did she say, “Crown Prince?”’
I stared at the boy.
It was a face that seemed unlikely to be fifteen at most. Still, there were already signs that he would become a handsome man.
His shiny hair shone softly in the moonlight. There wasn’t a single speck on his transparent skin, and the nose that raised upwards was sharp.
‘Will handsome guys become great ever since they’re young? I hope he gets through puberty well…’
The moment I thought useless thoughts, the boy raised his head. Our eyes met.
I need to avoid it. As if nothing had happened, as if it was a coincidence, I had to hurry and avoid my eyes. And as if I had been possessed, I couldn’t take my eyes off the boy.
He didn’t avert his eyes either.
I had a strange feeling. Although we were quite far apart, it seemed like we were very close.
This spacious garden was instantly reduced to a small space, and I had the illusion that it was only the boy and me there.
‘Why?’
“Your Highness!”
Suddenly—at that moment, I heard the maid’s voice and returned to reality in an instant.
The maid who came close grabbed the boy’s wrist and lifted him up from the floor. The boy was dragged away without being able to resist once at the wretched hand.
“Why the hell are you here!”
It was too arrogant to say that she was speaking to the Crown Prince. My impression was frowned upon.
The boy glanced back as he was being dragged away. Our eyes met again.
“Can’t you come quickly? Walk properly!”
He stumbled for a moment at the rough hand movements.
They disappeared into darkness in an instant. I forgot to leave work and stood there blankly.
My heart was beating fast with anticipation. A strange atmosphere I just felt. A terrifyingly handsome face, there looked like the Crown Prince.
‘I got a feeling. I’m sure.’
There was no way such a person wasn’t the male lead. No, at least the sub-male lead, or at least the villain.
‘Yeah, there’s no way such a person can be a side character.’
It has been a year since I arrived here.
Finally, a strong feeling that the original story is about to begin came.
