I’m Too Tired Of Being OP, So I Decided To Live A Carefree Life [BL] - Chapter 24
My daily routine in Woruim wasn’t complicated. In fact, it wasn’t any different from what I was doing before I came to this world… Just that the subject to which my action revolved around was different from before.
I woke up every day at 8:30 in the morning, according to my internal clock since I don’t have a watch or anything like that in this world. Eat breakfast, which consists of fruits that I and my two beasts companions gathered, and some kind of wild grains that taste similar to glutinous rice. In fact, it was called Wild Sticky White Grain in this world. Which might be the rice of this world.
Practicing my magic, I hunted and fought with the beasts near me. Read and learned how to draw magic circles, which was required for summoning magic. Eat lunches. Find herbs and fruits, if I found seeds, I will bring them back with me to plants in my new garden. Fishing in the evening. More practice. Make dinner. More research and then sleep at 1 in the morning. Raise. Repeat. Sleep.
This went on until I was confident enough that I had enough knowledge on how to summon a beast through magic. By then, three months had passed by already since I got here.
I did other things, such as investigating this world’s magic system. But that’s for another time. For now, I am trying to summon my first summoning monster/beast.
As of now, my targets are a small magic beast called the Piglings as my first Beast Summoning through Magic.
According to the Beast Book, Piglings are wild beasts with a pink bristle hide that has three lines marked on its head. Its eyes are wild and blue, and its tusks are more than three to five feet long, wide and sharp like a blade. Its speed was considerably fast but it was also extremely durable due to its stamina and magic reinforcement.
Piglings have very high innate healing abilities so it was hard to kill them. However, unlike Razor Boar, an advanced class for the piglings, it was a very good animal beast for manual labor.
In their lives, the Piglings have three stages of advancement.
From birth, they are born just like a normal pig- that is, as a food source for wild animals, demons, spirits, giants, and Demius. However, those that are born with innate intelligence, gain enough mana to advance to the next class, the Pigling class, which made their body larger, faster, more stamina, more intelligent, wiser, from a four-legged animal into a semi-two legs animal, like how the orcs walked, and more importantly, a trait that let them choose their own master.
Once a pigling has a Master, not a boss or superior who hired them but a Master- their owner, they gain the ability to turn into more humanoid in appearance and skills. The benefit of that was that their offspring will be more humanoid in looking, more intelligent, wiser, have more stamina, and just… more in general of everything.
The race of Piglings that I am going to Summoned was from the Almeal Race of Pigling, who already have a long history of being Summoned into other countries asides from the Humans Countries as workers and contracted beasts.
The Piglings can and would eat leaves, vegetables, earthworms, caterpillars, insects, and anything like that so it was extremely cheap to keep. Not only that, the husks of the piglings shear off once every three to four months, making it a great money generator. After all, their husks are razor-sharp and nearly as strong as steel. So a lot of people like to use it as tools and weapons.
The reason why I want the pigling, however, wasn’t because of that. It was because my farm right now was far too big for me to take care of, by myself. In the beginning, the farm was only a small garden for planting herbs and spices. But whenever I find new seeds, I always have this impulse to plant them for observation and researches purposes. Then before I knew it, my small farm had turned into a 10+ hectares farmland. I had to clear out more trees and make stronger fences surrounding my area because of it, too.
So, I choose the pigling, who is known for being loyal, good at manual labor, and doesn’t eat a lot. They can use their husks to dig the earth and they can also use magic if taught right.
I plan on summoning a couple of piglings to help me out.
The magic circle for the pigling was a circle that required 12 Fort, 10 Ref, 12 Will, and 3 overlap circles. It was a pretty complex circle, which was why it took me three whole weeks to understand it and know how to use it in a practical way.
The magic chalk that I used to draw the circle was made by me using the magic stones that I found in some of the beasts that I killed, and no – they aren’t the beast’s magic core. It is just a stone from the heart of some stone or earth element monsters. Just one stone was enough to make 20 chalk so I didn’t have to constantly hunt beasts for its magic stone.
According to the Book of Summon, which came out of nowhere when I first tried to use Summoning Magic, Magic Chalk for writing Magic Circles are really expensive due to the success rate of making said chalk.
The ingredients are; Mana stone, Magic Powder(made from grinding Magic Stone or similar gems), Mana Water, Mana Oil, Medium Rank Fusion Agent made from magical bee wax and liquor, and lastly, the sap from a tree called “Vristile”. All of those can be found in the Ignamita Forest, including the mana water.
Using Synthesis and Alchemy, I had successfully enhanced the magic chalk and made about 500 of the Grade 10 Magic Chalk.
When I first try to use Alchemy without the Synthesizing skills, it just doesn’t feel right. I did, still, made a Magic Chalk at grade 8, but it just doesn’t feel right.
My instinct as a Toxicologist and Chemical Engineerer tells me that just using Alchemy wasn’t enough. And so, I try to use Magic Creation but it still feels weird. Successfully creating a Magic Chalk at grade 9 but still wasn’t quite right. That’s why I used Synthesis in the end. Right as I used Synthesizing Magic, I knew right away the truth about making Magic Chalk. Magic Chalk was a Special Preparation Item, which was why it was so expensive for the people of this world. This was also why it was so hard for people to make magic chalk.
After all, the people who have the Synthesis Skill aren’t a lot. And even if there are people with Synthesis Skill in this world, I doubt that they have the material for making it. This was due to the materials it needed. From what I notice, Mana Oil was also another Special Preparation Item as it was made from 4 different kinds of herbal plants. All four herbal plants were planted by me in my garden.
So, for the majority of the magician, they used a lesser version of the Magical Chalk, the Stale Chalk. Which was far easier to make but wasn’t as efficient and even less proficient.
Normal chalk doesn’t give out any special effects. However, the chalks that I made using Synthesis and Alchemy had the effect of giving my summoned beast/monsters/animal +20 points in intelligence and +10 points in wisdom. This was why it is a grade 10 item. Normal Magical Chalks are far more efficient already but my Magic Chalks was even more efficient than the normal Magical Chalks.
This was because I used magic water I found deep within the forest from a pond called the [Wisdom Pond]. Of course, after making sure that no animal, beast, human, or elf was near, I transferred a lot of that water into a couple of large magic stonewares that I made using stonework and space magic.
The stoneware that I made using stonework and space magic wasn’t really good but it was enough to be able to hold 15 times the amount that it normally holds.
As a result, I sealed off the pond to make sure that no one but me can only do it. I used Earth magic to turn the surround of the pound into hard granite stone, about 10 meters thick, and sealed it with sealing magic spells. The top was also the same. So now, only me and the gods know where and what was hidden underneath it.
Not even Felesa and Gutza knew about this location as I had forbidden them to come near here.
Now, I wrote out the magic circles for the summoning ritual. I triple-check the spells, the shape of circles, and everything else. By now, my understanding of Summoning Magic was at level 5 already, due to me restraining myself from ignorantly using half-ass magic, which was not my intention, and so my Summoning Magic understanding was pretty high for my first Summoning.
I don’t intend to use magic that I don’t understand, irresponsibly, after all. I might not be a responsible person but I sure am not an idiot. I take precautions when needed. And this is one of those times that I should be cautious of my actions.
I nodded. “Okay, this should be enough,” I place my hand on the line of the magic circle and pour my mana into it.
I started to chant the chant within the book, which was a specification chant for my targeted monster/beast, as I continued to pour a constant amount of mana into the circles.
The lines started to shine as it flashed bright green. Once it calmed down, a one-meter-tall and 2-meter wide vicious-looking piglings was waiting in front of me, inside the magic circle.
The Pigling was looking at me with eyes filled with intelligence and wisdom, not stupid and vicious like the orcs that I met within the forest.
I was successful! Still, don’t be so excited yet. The work is not done!
“Hello, my name is Shinichi Tokugawa. I summoned you with the intention to form a working contract with you. My terms are 8 hours per day, 6 days per week. Food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. If you fall sick, I can heal you for free for the first 10 times, per year. If you didn’t fall sick for a whole year then that sickness free-time can be acc.u.mulated to the next year. I also give out resting times 3 times a year for 1 week each time during those resting times. Your payment will be paid biweekly using fruits, meats, herbs, or cooked food that I made. The amount of food is paid in pounds. Each day is worth 25 pounds. Would you like to sign and form a contract with me for 3 years?” I asked the piglings. Due to my level of Summoning, I didn’t summon a slime as practice so I need to give terms and conditions for the summoned monsters or otherwise to accept. If he or she or it didn’t accept the terms then they can go back without any harm done to them.
However, if they are accepted, then they can come here based on their contract states. With or without my presence.
‘Your Contract is acceptable for me. However, may I ask if it was possible to change the payment into daily?’ A slightly older male voice replied back.
“Of course, that can change” I replied back as I made the change to the contact. 25 pounds of food wasn’t much for me as my daily yields come to around 4500 pounds per day at the least 5200 pounds at max.
The slightly elder pigling sighed in the contact using his own blood. The contract paper shone bright yellow before it turned into yellow mana mist and surrounded both me and him.
[Contract Successfully Signed and it is now in effect.] Nanako said with a voice that’s totally indifference. She’s already used to announcing things for me for the past three weeks. And, I am pretty used to her voice by now too.
The magic circled shone brightly in red before it vanished, leaving only the pigling there.
I smile slightly due to excitement, “Hello, may I ask for your name?” I asked via magic, as the piglings don’t understand human languages, yet. Since I have the languages from Gaiana-sama, I practice it with Felesa and Gutza to the point where I can communicate with the animals of this world with no problem.
‘My name is Alzaxa from the Almeal Pigling. Nice to meet you, master,’ The pigling made some noises from the back of his throat. The vicious look on his face was slightly uncomfortable but since I don’t feel any hostility from him, I smile slightly in reply. Not to mention, it was far better than the orcs expression, that’s for sure.
“Nice to meet you too. Come, let me show you to the farms that I want your help on.” I asked as I walked toward my farm.
The piglings follow me. A couple of minutes passed by and a large land farm with a shining building came into sight. Alzaxa stood there shocked before following further in. The shining building was a greenhouse that I made using Earth magic and light magic so it was fairly large.
Inside the greenhouse were herbs that I found and gathered from the forest. They are the herbal medicinal plants for potions, spices, and other things that I used as practices.
“Alzaxa, I would like for you to help me with my farming here. You see these?” I asked the pigling as I showed him the plants that I wanted him to not kill first. “These are the plants that will bear vegetables for me and you, so I want you to remember them. Next, I will teach you a magic spell on how to safely get rid of insects and bugs. You don’t have to kill the insects and bugs. If you do, you can. Next is watering. I have two large water buckets here that have holes in it. You don’t have to manually water the plants everyday. See this long wood? You pour water into this and see? It will automatically travel through the rest of the farm. Each day, the farms need 10 water buckets each time. And within a week, the farms need to be water at least 2 times but no more than 4 times. Can you remember everything that I told you so far?” I asked as I paused.
‘Yes, I understand and remember.’ Alzaxa replied back with a hand on his c.h.e.s.t.
I chuckled. Of god, it has been 3 months already since I last communicated with someone that isn’t Felesa and Gutza. Nanako doesn’t count. Those two beasts aren’t home right now, they went back to the God’s Realm for a meeting. They will be back in two days.
I haven’t got a clue as to what the meeting was about, but for sure, there’s this ominous feeling in the pit of my stomach.
“Alright, do you want to start today?” I asked the piglings, trying to smile but remembering that Felesa asked me not to- so my face just twitched a bit.
‘Yes, please let me!’ He begs on his knees.
This is slightly uncomfortable. “You don’t need to get on your knees for me from now on. I don’t like it when someone does that. Come, follow me. I will show you the eatery area for you. I planned to summon another two or three more Piglings within the next two to three days. So, get along with them, okay?” I said as I led the pigling toward a wooden house that I built near the farms.
Although they will have to pay a fee of 5% of their wage per night that they spend here, I am sure that there will be animals/beasts who don’t want to go home and stay here.
I explained and showed Alzaxa how and when to use the clock-in and clock-out stations. How to use the bedrooms, the bathrooms, and the laundry room. I show him what is on the menu for the month inside the kitchen, what their food will be, and when breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served.
There’s enough fresh leaves, vegetables, earthworms that I had Felesa and Gutza cultivates, along with caterpillars and insects. There are also cooked foods that I made myself on the menu. They can choose what they want to eat just by pressing their husks against the wooden plank that I install into the kitchen wall. The Pigling’s husks are also like an extra hand for the pigling. So, they have no problem with carrying the trace of food into the eating tables.
Unlike other beasts such as boars, the piglings are magical monsters that can walk on two feet. They are much like a goblin in games or orcs for that matter. Only, they aren’t as violent as the orc nor as stupid as the goblin.
This race of Pigling was pretty adorable, if I say so myself.
Even though their expression could use some … changes.
I teach Alzaxa three magic spells, after checking to see if he has any affinity with it. Especially the water spells that will kill any harmful bacteria and virus, which I found to be very resistant.
The first spell was a Wood-element spell that let him check the internal of the herbs. If there are any insects that are harmful to the herbs inside the herbs, then he can use the Earth Spell that I also taught him to kill it. The last spell was a water spell that I created.
Unlike the original basic water spell, this spell was a little different. It was more gentle, like the touch of a mother’s love that will kill any harmful bacteria or germs like nothing could.
I made this water spell because I missed Okaa-san’s touch. Even though my mother was a very busy woman due to her job. She was a great mother. She both spoils and yet was very strict with me. She never hit me without reason. Her teaching of me wasn’t a lot but it was all-important.
It was due to her that I didn’t take after my father, who was a very scary man. My mother was a bit more strong-willed and softer in her actions. She might not be good at cooking but her strength lies somewhere else.
What? The one that cooked inside the house was me and my father. Both my older brothers take after my mother so they have no talent in cooking. Period.
Well, of course, unless you want to bomb the house of the planet. Unless that was your intention, you best not let any of my brother and mother near the kitchen.
My mother’s touch was oddly warm and protective.
This was why the water spell that I created was oddly gentle and yet, deadly at the same time. Alzaxa was shocked by my water spell, though. Saying that it shouldn’t be possible to change the property of the spell-like I did but well… the evidence in front of him anyway. So, there’s not much that I can do aside from letting him get used to it himself. I know that my luck isn’t normal, which was why I don’t interact with other humans as I am right now.
Still, I hope that my luck doesn’t affect Alzaxa much.
With my Appraisal, I could already see that his luck has increased by three whole grades. From D to B grade. Or in this case, from level 3 to level 6.
After that, I worked with Alzaxa for a couple of hours for him to get used to the routine before I went to continue my thing.
I continue to research the list of magic that I want to study.
Although… I came across a huge problem.
I have no more paper! No, not the paper from Earth. The paper from this world!
Magic Parchment Paper!
This world’s paper was made differently, so writing magic doc.u.ments on it was more efficient. I tried to use the parchment paper from the earth that was in my Inventory Box but… It turned into ash within a split second.
That was because the paper from earth was not made to hold magic or mana, for that matter.
It can be used for writing in general, but for anything that needs mana infusion, such as a contract, it turns into ash.
Damn it, now what?
The paper that I had been using was from Felesa, who got it from some bandits that he met a couple of weeks ago when he went hunting. So now that I ran out, I have to go get some… Wait a minute.
Why can’t I just make them myself?!
… Wait… How do you make Magic Parchment Paper?
Aree? ∑(。・Д・。)???
Wouldn’t this stop me from continuing my magic circles training?
Hmm? I recalled that I have 100 Free Skills points right?
“Nanako, how many Skill Points does it cost to learn how to make Magic Parchment Paper?” I asked Nanako. As the System that was to help conceal my presence, Nanako has more functions than normal. Selling Skills, Abilities, Traits, Manual, Pills, Medicines, Etc… This was normality for this world. Well, for this world citizen, they will have to go to the Temple of the Gods to buy/exchange the Skill Points that they gain from the Dungeons and Mazes for more Skills or Ability and Traits.
In my case, all I had to do was ask Nanako and she could exchange my Points directly with the World’s Consciousness for it. Fast, effective, easy, and wasting no time at all.
[It would cost you 3 Points. The Skills is called (Mana Papers Crafting)]
Only 3 points?
Wait. I forgot it was very hard for the people of this world to earn Skill Points. I have 100 Free Points because of the Double Experience Gain Trait that Celenius-sama gave me.
They have to go fight inside Dungeons and Mazes against the Choros Teras for Skill Points. So it made sense that it would be hard for them.
Well… what do I expect? This world is a Rank B world for a reason.
“Okay, buy it.”
[Yes. Confirmation Complete. Please check your Ability and Skills section.]
I checked it and Mana Paper Crafting was on the list, at level 1.
Hmmm… So, that’s how different the Mana Paper was from the normal paper…
I see. The tree itself was different from normal trees. For the Mana Paper itself, it must be made from a Treant Tree. And not just a normal Treant Tree, too.
It was no wonder why it was so expensive. The Sap of an Elder Treant is needed.
An Elder Treant, huh.
I know of one Elder Treant, alright.
Although… that Elder Treant was a little… weird.
Crack crack Crack
Speaking of the devil and he shall appear.
I opened my door and went out. In front of me was a large- huge- gigantic, a tree with red and blue branches.
Instead of calling it a treant, it would have been better to call it a willow tree instead.
With its elongated leaves that are weeping the ground like a broom, this treant tree doesn’t even look like a damn treant tree.
It looks more like a damn weeping willow. Only, blue and red in color.
‘Shinichi, I am here… Play with me,’
… See? Weird, right? For an elder treant to act so childish.
I met this Elder Treant two weeks ago when I was searching for some wood to make a hunting bow with. The Elder Treant was sleeping with its roots out in the open, and I happened to trip over because of it.
He, the Elder Treant of the Inner Forest, took one look at me and… asked for my hand in marriage right there, right then.
Of course, I rejected him right away with no hesitation. It was a good thing that the Elder Treant wasn’t hostile toward humans. No, in fact, I think that he might like humans.
Since then, the Elder Treant would come away from his group of treants and spend some time with me.
Every. F.u.c.k.i.n.g. Damn. Days.
Sigh… I guess I don’t really mind it much. Since, well, I was pretty lonesome here by myself with only Felesa and Gutza to accompany me. But now Alzaxa is here too.
If it was only the Elder Treant, then it would be okay but… behind the Elder Treant was a group of menacing-looking beasts. All with their heads bowed down.
All looking like they had seen the living holy god… which was me.
How the f.u.c.k did this come to be?
Σ(・Д・)!?
Well, this was due to me accidentally helping the Elder Treant and them over a case of… Food Poisoning. In Magic Style.
Do you know why I created that water spell that killed germs, bacteria, and viruses for my farms? Well, I found out the hard way that Food Poisoning was a thing in this world from those… animals.
The Elder Treant has his roots out of the opening so that he could heal the animals that had been poison due to eating flood that has… E. Coli bacteria in it.
Only… these E. Coli bacteria were larger and didn’t actually need a microscope to see it. And as a Magic Bacteria… A f.u.c.k.i.n.g damn Magical Bacteria. Once it stuck to a certain kind of food, its infectious rate was oddly high and it killed even faster.
I don’t know where or when it started but 4 large beasts of high class had already died from it. If I hadn’t been there at that time, and noticed the symptoms, then by now, another 50 or so high-level beasts would have already followed after the first 4 large beasts into hell, already.
Due to my water magic spell, which was called Holy Cleanse by this world’s Consciousness, I had accidentally saved all those menace-looking beasts.
There’s the Fire Element Wolf pack, a whole pack.
There’s a Stone Horned Rhinos family of 4.
There’s a lot of Wood Tailed Vein Snakes.
There’s also a lot of Shadow Tail animals… A whole race of it, if I didn’t know any better.
There are also another two, much smaller, Elder Treants too.
‘Shinichi-sama, play with us,’
‘Yes, Shinichi-sama, play with us,’
The kids… small pups and offsprings that I had unknowingly saved at that time were very attached to me for some reason.
It was weird, as animals used to hide away from me all the time. And now that there’s actually some that got closed to me, up close and personal, without hiding away… Even though they are adorable, they aren’t my type of adorable. I’m more of a cat type of person, so dogs type of animal was just…
“Kino, Pino, Tino, Nino, Bino, Fino, and Dino, sorry, but I’m a little busy right now. I could play with you guys for a couple of minutes but you guys will have to go back, okay?” I said as I sat down on the ground.
The following names that I had said out loud was from the pups of the Fire Element Wolves’s pack. I don’t know why but those guys had followed me home after I saved their parents. Of course, I took them back but they continue to come here…
It was to the point that Felesa asked me if I wanted to form a Beast Contracts with them, as they were also willing to. I said no.
I haven’t researched what it means to have Magical Beasts such as Fenrir and a Lightning Thunder Hawk as my Companion, yet. I have no intention to contract those little puppies just because Felesa said it’s okay to do so.
Still, it was pretty boring here so I do play with them. I took out 7 wooden flying disks, frisbees, all imbued in different kinds of magical spells as I played with the puppies.
The parents’ eyes all have a glint in them for some reason, but due to the Elder Treant’s root, which stopped them from acting, they didn’t do anything aside from looking disappointed from where they lay.
While I was throwing the frisbees for the pups as we play around, I was also summoning up different kinds of magic in the air, and sending it toward the Elder Treant to train myself.
This Elder Treant was a Fire and Water alignment treant, so me sending fire and water to him doesn’t do anything other than as a play-action.
This was the reason why I didn’t kill the Elder Treant when he came near to my house. Not only was he not hostile towards me, but he was also very nice. As someone who has grandparents like me, you can say that the Elder Treant is like my grandpa, now. If only he wasn’t so childish.
The reason being that I, doing this, was helping me myself, and me, with my magic control. It wasn’t for some reasons that you think of. I’m not that nice, okay?
The amount of mana that I pay each time I used a basic element spell had decreased as my control of the magic within me and surrounding me started to increase.
Like this, as I throw the frisbees around, I continue to summon more and more basic elemental spells toward the Elder Treants.
After about 20 minutes, I stopped the pups and stopped summoning the spells.
“Okay, guys, I have to continue my research now. So, go home.”
‘Awww,’ They all w.h.i.n.ed and pouted with their ears dropping. Err, guys, I’m not a dog lover, okay? No matter how cute you all act like, I won’t budge.
‘Shinichi-sama, can I stay with you?’ Asked Tino, the Fire Element Wolf pup with the blue stripe down his back. Tino, Nino, and Bino were brothers from the same mother and father. Tino has one blue stripe down his back, Nino has a yellow stripe and Bino has a white stripe.
Turns out that Tino was a Fire Elemental Wolf with the power to use water magic, making a duo-element alignment. Nino has yellow that represents a deviant earth element alignment while Bino can use healing magic.
The rest of the pups can only use fire element magic but in return, they grow up much faster and faster. This leaves the three brothers a little behind when it comes to strength but it seems like their parents don’t really care much about it.
‘Ah! No fair! I want to stay too!’ ‘Me, too! I want to stay too!’
‘Ah! No fair! If Tino and his brothers are staying then I’m staying too!’ Kino, the eldest among the pups, said with a loud yelp.
“Enough. None of you guys are staying.” I rejected the pup’s plea as I put away the frisbees.
“Now, it’s time for you guys to go back. I need to go collect materials. I don’t have time to play with you guys.” I said toward the Elder Treant and the rest of the group.
‘Wait, Shinichi. Don’t you need the sap from the Elder Treant?’
“… How do you know that?” I asked, suspicious written all over my face as I glared at the Elder Treant.
‘Hmph, I am the Elder Treant overseeing this area. Every tree within my reach will be my eyes,’ The elder treant has this weird look of pride within his wooden face.
“So, you been spying on me, huh…” If my voice was colder than before, that’s my problem.
The elder treant looked surprised for a split second before his expression on his wooden face turned panicky.
‘No! That’s not it! I only know that you need the elder treant saps for something but I don’t know what it is used for! I haven’t been eavesdropping or spying on you!’ His branches of red and blue leaves were shivering as the elder treant tried to explain his knowledge of how it was possible for him to know what I wanted.
The elder treant’s panicking face was oddly cute. Even though it was a wooden face.
Seeing the panic look on all the animals, tree treants, and pups’ faces, I have to say, they really do look at me as if I’m the holy saint or something. The looks of awe and worship was oddly… obnoxious.
I ain’t a goddamn saint. I don’t have the mindset nor the will for it. I am also not nice enough to do volunteering work like that in another world. I didn’t even do it in my world, what makes you think that I care about the other world?
The main reason why I took Toxicology and Medicinal Engineering was for my own personal interest. It wasn’t for some saintly reasons.
By the way, I called it Medicinal Engineering but it was more of biomedical engineering that deals with nanotechnology. Toxicology was even more weirder.
The professors at my College actually let me make my own poison just so that they could test it. More than just studying poison and toxic, my special field was more of “Making” Toxic. Using my knowledge of alchemy and making potions in virtual reality, you can say that there was a reason why I always have an A + in all of my classes.
Also, I recalled that Gaiana-sama said something about me loving Earth… What was that about? I don’t remember ever caring for the Earth. Sure, I take care of the plants in my gardens- on earth- but I don’t recall doing something that could be seen as an Earth Loving person.
So, having someone worshiping me was just plain annoying. I don’t plan on being a good saint in this world. Nor do I care enough to be a saint. Actually, if they hate me then that would have been better.
I read enough online novels where the so-called Main Character was summoned into another world to be their Hero/King/Saviour/Destroyer/etc.etc. I read where the MC was betrayed by his former friends, gain new friends, watch new friends die, turn dark and broken, get revenge, save a princess, marry a princess, have a harem, etc. etc. Living in a carefree way with tons of girls/boys by his or her side, and one thing enters my mind every time I finish reading it.
“What a Bothersome MC.” “What a superficial man,” “What a naive idiot.” “This MC lacks IQ,” “Idiot, you’re being manipulated.” “I will hate to be in this MC’s shoes.” “The Saviour? Please, you are just a hypocrite,” Etc.Etc.Etc.
There was a reason why my brothers don’t worry about me with my luck being as it is. Because it was very hard to manipulate me or take advantage of me. My intuition might not be like [Sawada Tsunayoshi] but it sure damn close.
This was also another reason why I have few friends. Few, but trustworthy friends who won’t stab me in the back even if the whole world turns against them.
Speaking of them, I wonder what they are doing? Nowaki might be terrorizing the government right now for failing to find me. Takayashi might have already hacked the Federal Galactic Governments’ main quantum computer. This wasn’t the standard Quantum Computer that citizens used. This is a Macro Computerization Quantum Computer that has every piece of information there is. From making weapons to poison to world history to controlling the weather for tomorrow.
Takayashi might really turn into an Overlord if Nowaki can’t find any information on me.
Not only that, I wonder how many people are now pissing their plants off because of the Ten Monster/Master Clans? Reizuki, Ichinoki, Futagana, Mitsushita, Yonagi, Gonami, Yachigusa, Nanami, Yatsushiro, Kuzami, and Juuwanoki.
Reizuki Kanami, Ichinoki Mio, Fatagana Sae, Mitsushita Tetsuya, Yonagi Souryu, Gonami Shouta, Yachigusa Taichi, Nanami Arata, Yatsuhiro Haruki, Kuzami Kaede, and Juuwanoki Hideyoshi. Those ten people are my guildmates and best friends.
Ahhh, I hope that they didn’t do anything over the top.
Hmmm? They are all Japanese? Nope, what are you talking about?
That’s not their real names, you know. Those are just their code names in games. My name in games was Kisagamune Shin. For some reason, they all choose Japanese code names in games. Miharu had said once said that it was due to me being Japanese but that’s just an idiotic reason.
Anyway, they all are my guildmates and best friend. I knew them when I was still in elementary school, during an International School Week playgroup. Since then, we have been together. Even in Virtual Games.
… Sigh. No use thinking about it. Thinking about them only made me sad and tired. And dreary of what they would do.
“… Fine, I believe you,” I answered the Elder Treant after a couple of minutes of silence from my end, as I was busy thinking about the people that I left behind.
“Still, why do you ask me that?” I asked the tree.
‘Well, the truth is… ahem, we wanted to do some exchange with you?’ At the end of the sentence, the elder treant was slightly confused. Well, obviously he might be confused.
The animals/monsters in this forest had never used trading methods before. They aren’t humans or one of the other nine races. They have no need for trading.
However, now that they know about me, they were probably thinking of staying on my good side. They had seen what I could do to corrupted beasts and monsters that are on my bad side.
“Trading, huh.” I don’t see why not, “Sure, why not? Although, what do you guys want to trade with, anyway?” I asked the animals behind the Elder Treant and the other smaller treants.
‘Well, I can use Treant’s Oil to exchange?’ One of the smaller treants, a female one, said as she showed me a bottle of oil. The oil was shining gold, though.
I used appraisal, and it seems that the oil was called [Treant’s Oil]. It is a magical oil used in higher rank potions making alchemy.
I don’t know the cost of it in this world but using the appraisal skills, I was able to make some sense of what the economic reasoning consists of.
One bottle of Treant’s Oil costs 3500 Rhis. This was pretty expensive from what I can tell. Enough to feed a family of 5 for a whole month. Not a lot for nobles and merchants but for normal low-class citizens, this was enough to hire a couple of a.d.u.l.ts for manual labor.
“Okay. What do you want to exchange it with?” I asked. I don’t have a lot of things on me, after all. Well, I do but those are things that I don’t want to take out. Period.
‘Can I exchange one cast of the Holy Cleanse spell for one bottle of Treant’s Oil?’ Asked the female treants.
‘Me, too. Please?’ The least, but not last, treant asked. A male one. A fairly young one, too.
I thought that a forest can only have one Elder Treant? How come in this forest, there are three Elder Treants?
It is like a mountain can only have one king.
And yet, this forest Ignamita Forest has a whole- for better lack of word- family or pack of Elder Treants.
I thought that Elder treants are very territorial with their territory?
It seems like these three Elder Treants are somewhat of a mutated kind when it comes to personality.
“Just one?” I asked, feeling like I’m cheating the treants off, somehow.
‘Just one is enough,’ The female treant said confidently.
“Okay,” I said as I took out a sheet of yellow paper. It is an Inscripted Paper with the Holy Cleansing Spell on it. In other words, a Spell Card.
To use it, all you have to do is send a little bit of mana into it and it will activate. This way, not only would it be faster, safer, and more convenient to use, it would also save a lot of mana too. Not to mention, the sheet of paper was as small as a post-it note, about 3 inches x 3 inches in size, only thicker due to it being made from magical plants. Small and doesn’t take much space at all.
That’s right, I researched how to do that.
Now, I have about 1500 Spell Cards for quick use, with different kinds of spells on each Spell Cards. It cost about 50-70% less mana than casting it directly from my internal mana and external mana controlling efforts. This was the reason why I ran out of Magic Parchment Paper so quickly. I did try to save paper by reducing the size of the Spell Cards into the size of a business card but… it didn’t have enough space to inscribed out the whole spell chants. Or that my skill with Symbology was too low right now for it to be able to imprint them into the smaller size magical parchment paper.
And yes, the Symbology Skill was one of the Skills that came with the Summoning Magic Skill. I don’t know why or how that was possible. I only know that when I first tried to write out the circles for the Summoning as a practice on the magic parchment paper, I gained the Skill [Symbology] at level 1. Now, my symbology was level 3 going to level 4 soon.
‘Ah! Me, too! Exchange with me too! I have some Treant’s Oil and Elder Treant’s Sap for exchanges!’ The younger male treant said. His voice was pouting and his branches were swinging actively.
I exchange two more… What do I call these? I called it Spell Cards but was it really Spell Cards in this world?
Let’s use appraisal and see what this world called it?
Ah, it was called [Symbol Spell: Holy Cleansing]. It cost 4 mana points for each card to be active. The spell itself was a rank 1 spell but it is a Specialized Spell, which required a magician to have at least 3000 points in Intelligence and 2000 points in Wisdom to be able to use.
… This was weird… As my status does not show me how high my Intelligence or Wisdom points are… How do I know if I have high Intelligent or Wisdom points?
I will ask Nanako about this later. For now, I have to finish these transactions with the forest’s animals and trees.
The Fire Wolves pack didn’t have such things to trade so they left and went to find herbs or rare fruits to trade with me, instead.
As for the pups, they haven’t got a clue as to why their parents would want to trade for a piece of paper so they just watch.
By the time that I was done trading with them, another 3 hours had passed by already.
Sigh. Okay, time for them to leave.
I kicked them out of my area and went back inside to make some lunch for me and Alzaxa.
Alzaxa; “….”
“Why are you looking so bewildered?” I asked the pigling in front of me. With his looks of utter confusion and his vicious face, it was a little funny.
‘Shinichi-sama, is it really okay for me to eat the same kind of food as you?’ Asked the pigling with a bewildered look in his eyes as he nervously looked at the food in front of him.
“Of course, you can. I made it for you, okay?” I replied back, a little confused as to why he was so confused. Is it an allergic?
“Or what? You can’t eat them?” I asked, feeling a bit guilty at the fact that I didn’t ask if the Pigling can eat the same food as humans.
The Book of the Beasts only said that the Piglings can and would eat leaves, vegetables, earthworms, caterpillars, insects, and anything like that so it was extremely cheap to keep. However, as someone who was from the 36th Century Earth, from when even A.I. machines were treated fairly, I don’t want to let my workers eat things like that. So, I cooked enough food for him too.
Felesa and Gutza aren’t back yet. So, there was only me and Alzaxa here. And I don’t want Alzaxa to get sick from eating things that he shouldn’t be.
“N-no, that’s not it.” He denied with a fl.u.s.tered face. As his eyes redden slightly. “I-it’s just that this was the first time that a human was willing to give any human food for anyone of my race,” He said with his head bowed.
I sighed out loud in relief. And here I thought that it was because the Pigling cannot eat human food.
“You do know that the food that I’m paying you is food that is eaten by humans, too, right?” I asked the Pigling, just to be sure.
“?! R-really?!” He eagerly asked.
“… Of course. For now, just eat your food. I will show you what I plan to pay you with, later.” I said as I pushed a set of lunch toward Alzaxa.
Oi, don’t cry. I ignored the teary-looking Pigling, who, despite his vicious face was oddly a cry-baby.
Hmmm… Today’s lunch was katsudon with miso soup and stirred fried green leaves from this world.
I said that I don’t want to use the items in the Inventory Box but… well, I can’t help it as I don’t have any seasoning or condiments from this world at all. I might have to create those condiments myself after all if I don’t want to take them out from the Inventory Box.
I don’t want to interact or meet any human beings at all right now, but at this rate, I might need someone to go to human society and bring me back things like salt, sugar, spices, herbs, and seeds. Not to mention, I need more fabrics for clothing, too.
Hmm? Someone to go into human society?
There is someone here who can!
Had my brothers or any one of my friends saw my face, they would have totally run away at first sight. Because it was not normal at all.
