Immortal of the Ages - Chapter 720: Mutt and Monkey, Cellmates Once More!
The scene was brutal, a grim mockery of filial piety and paternal love.
“You were mistaken about one thing…” Divine Dawn’s voice trailed as she finally ceased her assault, standing tall with resolve. “The flesh and blood of your daughter, you turned to ashes by your own hands. I owe you nothing now, nor do I share any bond with you.”
With that declaration, she rose to her feet, staring down at the dismembered form of the White Emperor, headless and limbless, her gaze filled with sudden clarity.
“It’s not over yet!”
Yun Xiao swiftly moved, pulling her behind him. In that instant, the White Emperor’s body was engulfed in a mist of blood, unleashing a ferocity more violent than before. Every drop of his blood screamed sharply in the air.
“Kill!” He roared, no longer in the White Emperor’s voice, but that of the Yaksha Ancestor.
With a sizzling noise, a blood-red ghost-faced monkey head sprouted from the severed neck of the White Emperor. Composed entirely of blood, its face was grotesquely fierce.
Simultaneously, limbs covered in blood-soaked fur emerged amidst thick smoke.
“Good heavens! That stupid monkey is breaking out completely!” the Nian exclaimed, eyes wide with surprise on Yun Xiao’s face.
“It escaped completely into the White Emperor’s body?” Yun Xiao furrowed his brow.
At a moment of wary contemplation, the Nian sneered coldly, “I see now! I was wondering why he seemed so weak despite breaking out completely. Turns out he turned all his blood into this form!”
“Like self-mutilation to escape, weakening himself considerably?” Yun Xiao thought quickly.
“Exactly! He needs time to recover, which you didn’t give him,” the Nian snickered, relishing the misfortune of his old cellmate.
It was a typical mindset of the small and petty-minded. Having failed at its own escape attempt, the Nian also refused to allow others to succeed either. So, it shared this crucial insight with Yun Xiao, allowing him to know exactly what to do!
And that was to strike the Yaksha Ancestor while it was down!
“Use that technique of yours to refine him, consume his bloodline now, or you’ll lose the chance!” the Nian roared.
“Starved mutt, you’re as good as dead!” The newly formed monkey head on the White Emperor fumed with rage.
The Yaksha Ancestor’s host body was crippled, and it was greatly weakened after just breaking out of the Immortal Asylum. Never in its entire life had it been in such a miserable state!
No matter its ferocity, Yun Xiao wasted no words.
Without a second thought, he pressed down hard, clamping the ghost-faced monkey’s head. His hands erupted with Mortal Dust Devil Blood, seeping into the grotesque form.
With a sizzle, the ghost-faced monkey’s head smoked and burned away.
The White Emperor struggled violently, unleashing the ferocity of a behemoth as his piercing screams echoed throughout the Heavenly Palace.
“Come!”
At Yun Xiao’s command, the Great Mother and Pale Revenant positioned themselves on either side of the White Emperor. Though both appeared human, their strength was that of mountains of flesh and oceans of blood, pressing down upon him.
BOOM! Divine Dawn joined the fray, melding the Primordial Pagoda and Primordial Doom Stars into one, pinning the White Emperor beneath them, his chest caving in under the immense pressure.
“Die! Die!” Even restrained in that manner, the White Emperor and Yaksha Ancestor roared, their struggles shaking the earth, causing tremors throughout the Heavenly Palace.
The millions of Immortals watched, breath held, not yet daring to celebrate as they witnessed this brutal scene.
“If you’re a Sin of Azure Heaven, then don’t think of escaping to harm others. Just quietly enter another prison,” Yun Xiao said coldly, his hands pressing down on the ghost-faced monkey’s head.
“Presumptuous child! What are you to harm us? Withdraw now, or your descendants will suffer forever!” the ghost-faced monkey’s head shrieked pitifully.
“You’re too noisy, monkey.” Yun Xiao, far from frightened, merely smiled and said, “Do you know why I can refine you? Because it’s my destiny to rule over you. Continue your resistance; I want to see your despair and breakdown when you realize you’re powerless.”
Though his words might have seemed ordinary, paired with the Mortal Dust Blood Calamity, they were lethally effective against the Yaksha Ancestor transformed into blood.
It felt vividly as its own blood and talents were being dissected and absorbed, like water being drunk down by Yun Xiao, leaving no room for resistance.
“EEK EEK! GYAAAH!!” It howled in fury, the White Emperor’s body and its own power launching an assault on Yun Xiao, but the man and the two corpse demons beside him firmly subdued the White Emperor’s failing form.
A thousand, ten thousand attempts at resisting, all lead to the weakening of the Yaksha Ancestor’s blood and power.
Having desperately transformed its essence into liquid to escape the Immortal Asylum, the Yaksha Ancestor encountered its worst nightmare at its most vulnerable: someone wielding the Mortal Dust Blood Calamity.
No words could capture the Yaksha Ancestor’s misfortune. As it raged and shrieked, with each loss of essence, it fell into real despair, confusion, pain, and sorrow.
“Save your breath; a short pain is better than a long one. For you, the pain is brief, but I’ve endured the worst, slowly being eaten away by a parasite!” As the battle neared its climax, the Nian momentarily shed its schadenfreude for a guise of sympathetic pity.
The Yaksha Ancestor, too, had fallen to such straits—it found companionship in misery, a comforting thought that was only possible because of the Yaksha Ancestor’s misfortune. Without disaster, there would be no pity from it.
“Heh heh…”
When the Yaksha Ancestor realized it was thoroughly refined and utterly powerless to resist, its heart-wrenching screams morphed into hysterical, despairing laughter. In that laughter hid immense regret and sorrow, emotions that overshadowed its inherent brutality.
A creature born of violence had its spirit crushed once more.
Backed into a corner, the Yaksha Ancestor leapt from the frying pan into the fire, landing squarely on Yun Xiao’s chopping block—a situation that would break the spirit of any being.
“Though it has transformed into blood, and I’ve refined its lineage with the Mortal Dust Blood Calamity, its essence remains that of a beast with a fleshly talent. It’s more fitting to absorb it using the Divine Desolation Physique,” Yun Xiao murmured, half to himself and half to the War Princess.
The Mortal Dust Devil Spirit was a fusion of him and the War Princess, and even if her soul had no authority in this partnership, maintaining some level of consciousness was still beneficial.
“Do as you wish; I’d rather not harbor a monkey on my person,” the War Princess responded weakly, her voice tinged with the haze of sleep.
“It’s hardly a monkey now, merely a pair of monkey eyes at most.”
As Yun Xiao transferred all the blood essence and inherent talents of the Yaksha Ancestor into his Divine Desolation Physique, the creature ended up like the Nian, reduced to nothing but a pair of eyes.
These eyes, like the final mark of a Sin of Azure Heaven, couldn’t be completely absorbed. They weren’t troublesome to keep, and might even be useful later on, if he needed their skills to develop new techniques. Yun Xiao naturally couldn’t be bothered to deal with them further.
RIP! In the moment it all ended, Yun Xiao’s forehead suddenly split open, revealing two crimson, ferocious, and savage eyes, each marked with the word Yaksha. Including the yellow, vortex-like eyes of the Nian on his cheeks, Yun Xiao’s face now sported six eyes altogether.
The highest pair of eyes was crimson and ferocious. The middle pair was black and pure. The lowest pair was yellow and cunning. Even with such oddity, the face of the Creator Immortal remained undiminished in beauty, which was telling.
“Truly ugly.”
Yun Xiao was certainly not comfortable with this arrangement. These Sin Beasts were better left to Moon Fairy. But for now, necessity demanded he make do with the Divine Desolation Physique.
“Stop gawking, pull them back or I’ll do it for you,” Yun Xiao commanded.
His forehead’s crimson eyes gazed upon everything, almost dripping blood… But in the end, the Yaksha Ancestor accepted its fate, closing its eyes.
It had escaped from one prison only to find itself in another, with even less hope of escape. Rage undoubtedly roared within it, and in its dreams, it killed Yun Xiao.
“Better accept it soon! At least in this prison of flesh, we can still wander around and see the world,” the Nian chuckled.
“Get lost!”
The Yaksha Ancestor despised it above all and showed no kindness.
“Absorbing the essence of the Yaksha Ancestor’s bloodline, the Divine Desolation Physique’s potential and immediate benefits will improve, even barely holding its own to my true self that has the Buddha’s Treasure Spirit…”
If they were of equal cultivation now, in terms of combat power, Yun Xiao’s true self was stronger than Moon Fairy, which was stronger than the War Princess.
The Moon Fairy body double might shine even brighter now.
The Night God Realm was just the beginning. Having won this battle, Yun Xiao was prepared for another all-out breakthrough and powering up.
The Yaksha Ancestor had utterly failed and collapsed.
“You can release him now.”
