Immortal of the Ages - Chapter 736: All Meetings Must Have a Parting
BOOM! In a moment filled with tender emotion, the ground of the Heavenly Palace shook violently beneath Yun Xiao and Divine Dawn’s feet.
Divine Dawn’s beautiful face tightened as she exclaimed, “The battle has begun!”
“Yes!”
And so, the so-called supreme Heavenly Monarch of the ancestral imperial family led eight Fourth Dao Tribulation Immortal powerhouses in a fierce battle against the reborn and manifested Chaos Soul.
This clash took place at the heart of the Great Dao Celestial Realm, and its tremors reached even the Heavenly Palace, attesting to the formidable power of the combatants.
“That Chaos Soul, once it shed the shell of Lu Fan, surged in power too fiercely.”
Practically speaking, the summoning edict issued by the White Emperor just before his death had greatly aided Yun Xiao.
RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! The Heavenly Palace continued to tremble relentlessly.
Yun Xiao looked around and saw, beyond this divine land, a tidal wave of fiery lava erupting from the underworld, stirring the entire Great Dao Celestial Realm.
For a moment, the Heavenly Palace itself seemed like a ship amidst a sea of flames, rocking violently back and forth, not to mention the other celestial cities and towns.
From a sufficient distance, one could see the entire Great Dao Celestial Realm in turmoil!
The ferocity of the battle was evident!
It appeared Heavenly Monarch Mu was indeed formidable, shaking the very foundations of the Celestial Sourcecore, which did not surprise Yun Xiao.
Rather, it was the Chaos Soul, freed from its physical form, that seemed unbound and even more challenging to deal with, causing Yun Xiao a slight dread.
“One must admit, the awakening of a beast that’s been lying dormant for over 20 years is not to be underestimated.”
Blue Star and Red Moon had warned from the start that the Chaos Soul was no easy foe, and this was no joke. It far surpassed the world level of the Great Dao Celestial Realm!
“Oohhhhhh! Oohhh…!”
In addition to the tremors across the Great Dao Celestial Realm, one could hear a mournful, soaring, soul-piercing wave of spirit storms. These soul tempests, along with the flood of flames, swept across the entire realm, making the Immortals truly feel the terror of Lu Fan!
The deluge of fire and the explosions of souls grew more magnificent, making it feel as if the heavens were splitting and the earth was shattering, rendering all living things into desolate silence.
Yun Xiao had relied on Divine Dawn to extricate himself from this showdown and stood to the side as an observer.
At this moment, he and Heavenly Monarch Mu shared a common goal: to utterly annihilate the Chaos Soul!
The evil of the Chaos Soul was supreme, surpassing even that of the White Emperor!
Should the Chaos Soul survive this calamity posed by Heavenly Monarch Mu, who then could contain it in the near future?
Yun Xiao, Divine Dawn, the War Princess, and others all waited in silence.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Divine Dawn’s heart raced as she gazed in the direction of the Taiwei Imperial Palace.
Beyond the quaking of the earth and sky, there were soul-shrieking hurricanes sweeping the heavens, cries of agony whose owner was unknown.
As time passed, the cataclysmic noise that shook the world gradually quieted and ceased.
This signaled that the outcome had been decided.
The whole of creation seemed to have suffered a severe illness, falling into pallor and exhaustion.
Even the wind felt feeble and listless.
“Lil Xi,” Yun Xiao looked at the fair-skinned girl in a pristine white dress before him and said, “If all goes well, until we meet again.”
“Certainly…”
Before she could finish, Yun Xiao had to depart first, as there were stirrings along the void passage within the Taiwei Imperial Palace.
“Brother…” The girl had not yet shouted out when Yun Xiao gave a slight smile, pinched her cheek, and retreated into the wind, fading away as lightly as a feather.
Once more, the world fell into silence! It all seemed to be over.
“Shen Xi.” From the ruins of the Taiwei Imperial Palace, a cold voice emerged.
“Heavenly Monarch Mu…!” Divine Dawn then turned, streaking like a flash of white light into the Taiwei Imperial Palace, appearing before the dragon throne where a woman stood in a silver robe crowned with a halo.
“Hmm?”
Upon seeing her, Divine Dawn was greatly astonished; the Heavenly Monarch Mu appeared ghastly pale, her eyes dim, nearly as lifeless as the Divine Imperial Son.
“Do you still have attachments in this realm?” the silver-robed woman with a halo asked coldly.
“No,” Divine Dawn replied softly, shaking her head.
“That’s good,” the woman said slowly, opening her eyes wide to stare meaningfully at Divine Dawn. “The path to ascension cuts through earthly ties. You, not being whole, have lost nearly half your potential—a true waste of heavenly gifts. Do not further cloud your judgment or harm what remains of your spiritual foundation.”
Divine Dawn felt displeased but restrained herself and nodded, saying, “I understand, Heavenly Monarch Mu.”
“After you return, I will conduct a ceremony for you to formally become my disciple. From then on, you will address me differently,” the silver-robed woman declared.
“Yes,” Divine Dawn replied obediently.
The woman gave her a deep look and added, “Once you join my tutelage, your life must be dedicated solely to the pursuit of the dao. All else is trivial and must be cast aside, except for my teachings, which you must regard as divine!”
“Yes,” Divine Dawn responded, her demeanor unchanged.
BUZZ! The silver-robed woman said no more but activated the teleportation formation.
In an instant, colorful lights enveloped her and the Heavenly Monarch Mu. The light grew intense and slowly engulfed her completely.
“Brother.” Divine Dawn thought silently, her heart reluctant as she watched in the direction he had gone, feeling empty. Tears slid down her cheeks, sparkling with the light.
“Say goodbye to your homeland. Once you leave, it’s likely you’ll never return,” echoed Heavenly Monarch Mu’s cold, profound words in her ears like a steel gate closing, sealing Divine Dawn on the other side of the world.
“We’ll meet ag…” She couldn’t even finish speaking before the colorful formation, like a massive beast, swallowed her white-dressed figure into the spatial currents.
That wisp of white dashed towards the heavens with a hum.
In an instant, the area near the Taiwei Imperial Palace was desolate. The brave and righteous little white tiger had vanished, no longer able to feel her heartbeat.
“Uh.” Yun Xiao watched this scene, feeling suddenly as if a piece of his heart was missing, as if part of his heart had been torn away. It hurt a little, and felt empty. Missing her was like bleeding, constantly hurting, never allowing a smile, especially when remembering her, yet unable to see her.
Because coming and going were too rapid, under the control of that supreme Heavenly Monarch, everything felt out of his hands.
Yun Xiao could hardly fathom the feeling of being forcibly separated. He liked to think he’d be happy for Divine Dawn pursuing the future rather than self-destruction, but when she truly left for the future, his heart still ached.
“Let it be, don’t dwell on it. Let her fly ahead as the silly bird for now. Once I find a way to cross worlds, I’ll go find her. There’s an upside to that; at least when I arrive, she can still look out for me.” Yun Xiao chose to be optimistic.
“You’re overthinking it. Once she reaches the Ancestral Land and meets some handsome, wealthy men, she’ll instantly forget you, a poor boy,” Blue Star scoffed.
“Don’t give me that kind of script where you pretend to slap my face; it’s pointless,” Yun Xiao retorted flatly.
Though he said this, Yun Xiao still held on to the hope of meeting Divine Dawn again someday…
