Immortal of the Ages - Chapter 740: Explosive She-Bear!
“The Desolation Corps?” Moon Fairy hadn’t yet touched down upon the Soul Refining Cauldron when the distant rumble of an earth-shattering roar reached his ears.
Beastly roars that shook the soul swept across from that direction, causing the black oil in the Soul Refining Cauldron to violently churn, throwing up great waves of scalding oil.
Moon Fairy steadied himself, looking toward the cacophony. There, amidst swirling black mists, charged countless massive demons, shrieking and roaring, unmasking their savage power as a veritable army of destruction.
“The Desolation Corps! The legendary Desolation Corps!”
Those who had been dropped alongside Moon Fairy just outside the Soul Refining Cauldron shouted sharply, their voices filled with a mix of awe, fear, and envy.
“To remain forever in the Six Paths of Reincarnation, better than being reborn five times over!”
“They say the strong and the gifted of the Six Paths of Reincarnation surpass many from Immortal realms. Those who remain are truly the elite of myriad daos!”
“Being chosen by the Desolation Corps is an opportunity!”
“Whether one can escape the limits of lifespan and transcend the cycle of reincarnation to attain eternal life depends on this chance…”
Hearing these intense and fervent desires, Moon Fairy confirmed one thing.
“To remain in the Six Paths of Reincarnation could actually mean eternal life?”
Isn’t that what all cultivators sought—to achieve immortality? Here, many outsiders nearing the end of their lifespans, old beings, were also seeking another life. And the White Emperor, for immortality, did not hesitate to torment living beings…
The temptation of eternal life was immense for everyone.
Of course, Yun Xiao himself felt little; his entry into the path of cultivation was too recent. As long as he didn’t die, he didn’t yet know how to spend the next few centuries. And if he continued to grow, it would be much more than a few centuries.
However, Moon Fairy was intensely interested in remaining within the Six Paths of Reincarnation!
“My little maid and the Great Mother have been abducted, and this great coffin is the Third Dao Source. If I just follow the process and reincarnate now, what a tremendous loss that would be.”
Moon Fairy’s resolve was firm; he knew that he had to join this Desolation Corps today, to become a part of the Six Paths of Reincarnation.
“Here they come!”
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The demon Desolation Corps surged forward, a horde of bloodthirsty, savage demons appearing above the Soul Refining Cauldron, each obscuring the sky, fierce and ferocious.
“These celestial demons of the Desolation Corps must all be in the Fourth Dao Tribulation!”
Yun Xiao, still ignorant of the true nature of the Fourth Dao Tribulation, could feel that each of these demons of the Six Paths of Reincarnation surpassed even the Great Mother in might.
The only puzzle was the absence of a Corona like that of the Divine Imperial Son atop the heads of these celestial demons. This suggested that after nearly identical cultivation systems in the Third Dao Tribulation, the Fourth Dao Tribulation likely diverged significantly!
Thousands of fierce demons from the Fourth Dao Tribulation thundered overhead, imposing a considerable pressure on the outsiders below. Many among them broke out in cold sweat, their breathing heavy.
“That demon is the leader…” Moon Fairy’s silver eyes locked onto a massive demon at the forefront. Shrouded in thick black mist and scorching black flames, its form was the largest, brimming with wild, terrifying power.
His gaze penetrated the black mist and flames, barely making out that the leader of this Desolation Corps was a bear demon—certainly no ordinary bear, but a bloodline-rich devil bear.
Its muscles bulged, fur bristly. With every swing of its massive arms, it seemed the very heavens and earth could be torn asunder. When its massive maw opened, its throat seemed to also contain a Soul Refining Cauldron, its breath a jet of blackened fire.
“It’s clear now, this Desolation Corps is primarily demonic, perhaps a self-standing military force of the Beast Path?”
Though there were only 1,000 demons, they alone could trample the Constellation Army and 18 Department Legions countless times over without suffering a scratch!
“So formidable! Worthy of a world whose resources exceed the Great Dao Celestial Realm by thousands of times!”
Such a world would naturally birth treasures and monstrosities at a rate thousands of times that of the Great Dao Celestial Realm.
“I wonder, is Lil Xi’s Ancestral Land stronger, or this Six Paths of Reincarnation?”
Moon Fairy rapidly absorbed all the information before him. While his true body remained trapped in the Celestial Court, his body double had already begun to gather resources, paving the way for his future.
If Moon Fairy could escape, deciding where his true self should go was crucial—the Ancestral Land or Six Paths of Reincarnation?
As Moon Fairy pondered this, the celestial demons of the Desolation Corps transformed into human forms!
One by one, they took on a fearsome, awe-inspiring human appearance, barely concealing their bestial nature. Transformed, they resembled a true army of destruction, orderly and stern, clad in rigid black armor.
This armor, coursing with the vast and wild power of desolation, indicated it was a type of Desolation Armor. Unlike celestial battle armor, it offered little protection, crafted solely to temper the body at all times!
From afar, the breastplates of these 1,000 warriors of the Desolation Corps bore the carving of a ferocious black bear, underscoring the bear’s dominant authority within the group.
“The Black Brute Bear, that’s the one…”
Even the reincarnated souls around knew the identity of this leader.
Moon Fairy followed the gazes of the onlookers to the front of the Desolation Corps, and when he first saw the human form of the Black Brute Bear, he was stunned.
“A woman?” Moon Fairy muttered to himself.
“A female!” the Nian scoffed.
“Your mother was a female too,” the Yaksha Ancestor retorted.
“I have no mother!”
These two Sins of Heaven were never comfortable unless they were bickering, but Moon Fairy’s attention was completely captured by this human-formed Black Brute Bear.
Above in the vast sky, a woman clad in black battle armor stood suspended in air. She towered eight feet tall, broader than the Great Mother.
Of course, her breadth was not due to fatness but to a well-defined, explosive figure. Though she gave off an impression of voluptuousness, her delicate body was actually packed with muscles strong enough to lift mountains. Her contours were dramatically pronounced, both beautiful and terrifying.
And yet, this striking physique was paired with a cold, enchanting oval face. Her straight, regal nose and vibrant red lips made it impossible to associate her with a bear.
If one had to describe her in a word, it would be explosive. Everything about her was bursting. Especially the protrusions and curves, shockingly pronounced whether in chest plate or battle dress, nearly bursting at the seams, daring onlookers not to stare.
With such a violent physique and seductive features, this leader of the Desolation Corps was undoubtedly the center of attention wherever she went.
“Don’t stare, or the Colonel might flatten you into a pulp herself!”
Many nearby looked away, but Moon Fairy’s eyes lingered on this explosive she-bear for a moment longer.
“It seems, though essentially a bear, if she transforms, she’s still acceptable…” Moon Fairy mused.
While his true self might not accept it, his body double, being a beast, didn’t have those kinds of repulsions. Besides, the Phoenix Empress was still waiting for Moon Fairy in the Nine Hells. Having experienced birds, why fear a mammal?
But Yun Xiao soon came to his senses. Now was a critical moment for his body double to seize the chance to remain in the Six Paths of Reincarnation. Any unrealistic and frivolous thoughts seemed somewhat sordid in the face of such a vast disparity in power.
“Steady.” Moon Fairy took a deep breath, lowered his head, and looked away from the fiery and formidable ketone body above.
“Colonel!”
At that moment, a black-haired young man appeared among the Desolation Corps. He was strikingly handsome and pure, with a pair of black fox ears visible, and nine fox tails behind him.
Undoubtedly, this was a powerful black fox demon.
The black fox demon’s physique was slender, quite similar to Yun Xiao’s true self, including a certain debonair flair. He approached the Black Brute Bear and asked respectfully, “Shall we begin the selection now?”
“Go.” Unlike her explosive physique, the black-armored woman’s voice was delicate and somewhat languid. Her simple command stirred the hearts of many male beasts.
“At once!”
The black fox demon rose, turned, and led a group of transformed demons from the Desolation Corps down towards the Soul Refining Cauldron.
“Quick! They’re coming, get into the oil.”
“Seize the opportunity.”
“Hold on…”
Moon Fairy, witnessing this, also descended towards the cauldron.
“It seems the Desolation Corps seeks to select Desolate Demons?”
Desolate Demons referred to those with a high compatibility with desolation, more capable of absorbing its power. This attribute existed in all levels of demons, varying only in degree. Unrelated to one’s bloodline heritage, it was a different kind of talent.
Such a talent supposedly did not enhance a demon’s upper limit but determined the speed at which that limit was reached. Bloodline and other talents were the real limit-setters.
“My Divine Desolation Physique doesn’t showcase bloodline or other talents, but my desolation talent is maxed out…”
To stay, Moon Fairy decided to display just a portion of this talent—certainly not all. This was a perilously dangerous world!
Yanfu Tan had already exposed him to this world’s cruelty.
“Pity…”
Moon Fairy looked down at the Soul Refining Cauldron with some regret. He wanted to absorb it wildly. But how could he with that monstrous skeletal octopus overhead and a large number of the Desolation Corps watching closely?
He used desolation to enhance his Divine Desolation Physique and break through, different from corpse demons that could use it to instantly grow stronger. So, it was impossible for him to plunder endlessly under the noses of such powerful beings.
That would surely be suicide!
There were eyes all over the Soul Refining Cauldron! That octopus was especially attentive, its tentacles stirring the oil and causing a tumultuous upheaval.
Even the Black Brute Bear was now bowing to this cephalopod!
“Best to play it safe, follow the steps, get in the game first, then climb up.”
In a perilous world, haste would make him stick out. And the more he stuck out, the more dangerous it would become.
Yun Xiao steadied his heart and let his body double sink into the Soul Refining Cauldron.
SIZZLE! SIZZLE! SIZZLE! The temperature of the oil was exceedingly high, instantly turning his whole body bright red, his silver hair standing on end, and his pale beautiful face blushing deeply…
