Immortal Wife Omnipotent Father - Chapter 11 Cultivation Practice
“The heck are you doing now?!” Mal shouted in shock and a little bit of anger.
Later that night when the stars were out and the moon hung up high in the sky, Mal caught Yasmin teaching Ether “cultivation” in the freezing cold. Ether wasn’t even wearing a jumper, which is what tested his temper.
Yasmin eyes Mal briefly before focusing back on Ether with one hand on her lower stomach.
“Feel the spiritual qi flowing into you, grasp this sensation.”
“Mmm, I feel it, mommy,” Ether was so engrossed in this new ‘game’ that she didn’t even realize her father was scowling at her.
“Night time is heavy in Yin Qi, you need to not just feel my energy, but the energy in the air around you. I’ve shown you the 9 basic and 4 major breaths. Focus on breathing it in and out of your body, forming a steady cycle. After that I will teach you how to store the energy.”
Yasmin told her stare toward Mal after she finished speaking and mouthed for him to not say anything, causing a vein to throb in his temple.
Just as Mal was about to step in and put an end to this farce that was going to give his daughter a cold, Ether began breathing in a strange rhythm.
What was strange was that the felling of the strange something he felt when Yasmin inspected his body he could feel it flowing in and out of Ether’s body in tiny amounts in conjunction to her breathing pattern.
Mal thought it was extremely weird, but he couldn’t give it any proper scientific explanation. It was as if what Yasmin had told him had some truth to it, despite his common sense telling him that everything she said was either a delusion or a lie.
“Good, that’s enough for tonight,” Yasmin said after two hours of practice. “You did not let this Empress down.”
“Mommy, are you an Empress?” Ether naively asked short of breath from the cultivation practice.
“Of course, you mother is the most feared empress across the nine lands and four great oceans. Nobody dares contest with this Empress.”
Yasmin spoke with both arrogance and pride, but the nave Ether just giggled cheerfully. Mal had sat on the rear step and watched on in silence. It was a strange way of bonding, but Ether had seemed to be slightly closer to her mother now, no longer afraid of being near her.
“That’s why as this Empress’ daughter, it is your responsibility to live up to expectation. I will ensure you fulfil your role as a royal princess.”
Ether heard “princess” and immediately lit up like a light bulb, even ignoring everything else said.
“Mommy, am I a princess.”
“That is what this Empress said.”
Mal yawned and finally walked over and tapped his daughter on the shoulder, causing her to jump in fright and but quickly tell him excitably that she was a princess. As her father, Mal couldn’t hurt his daughter’s happiness so he immediately agreed with her.
“Now, it’s time for bed. Don’t forget you have school tomorrow missy.”
Ether suddenly looked surprised and immediately jumped up. She grabbed her mother’s and her father’s hand in each of hers and pullet them toward the house. Back inside she immediately went to bed in front of them and looked up at her parents with wide puppy eyes.
“Good night, Ether, I love you,” Mal smiled and kissed her forehead, eliciting a small giggle of happiness from the girl.
Yasmin seemed to want to say something, but in the end just curtly nodded before walking out of the room. Somehow Ether didn’t take it to heart and still smiled.
Mal then turned the bedside lamp off and silently left the room. He found Yasmin sitting on the couch again, sitting in the lotus position to cultivate.
“Are you going to sit there all night again?”
Yasmin didn’t say anything in return, only nodding slightly.
“Sleep in the bed.”
Yasmin’s entire body shook and her heart trembled as she thought about sharing a bed with her husband for the first time again in five thousand years.
“This Empress needs to cultivate.”
“I don’t care.”
“” Yasmin wanted to refute him, but was at a loss for words for the first time in millennia.
Eventually giving in, she stood up and awkwardly walked over an into his bedroom, taking a in the scent of her husband the perforated the room. She struggled to control her beating heartbeat as she removed her clothing one layer at a time before fleeing under the covers of the bed.
This time, despite her usual arrogance, she was overcome with shyness and her entire face had turned bright red in a nervous anticipation.
Despite her expectations though, Mal never came into the bedroom. He had given up his bed and chosen to sleep on the couch under the thick blanket he had placed around Yasmin the night before.
