A Brief Encounter

On a dark and misty eve

through jagged, cobbled streets

a maiden fair with golden hair

sauntered cross the road.

So young, such beauty

a splendorous visage,

on angels wings she strode

she walked into a murky world

too slight for such a load.

My lips curled and moistened

It was time to strike

For love it would not wait

Though she did resist this brief encounter

She could not alter fate.

Katherine was not having a hard time fighting Travis’ men. She easily avoided their punches and kicks making Travis blood boiled. “What are you doing? Is it really hard just to hit her once?” Travis shouted. The four men nodded to each other then, they surrounded Katherine. “Don’t dare to move.” Katherine said using the mind link when she saw Drake and Hunter were blending in the crowd and took one step at once seeing the men are encircling her. “Are they safe now?” Katherine asked looking at Drake and when he nodded, she felt relieve.

Katherine brought back her concentration to the four men. “Easy boys, I don’t want to ruin your reputation here so better back off before something happen to the four of you.” Katherine said making the four smirked. “Don’t worry Miss Beautiful, after we’re done with you, Master will enjoy every part of you then, we will be enjoying the leftovers.” Man 1 said making Drake closed his hands hardly. “Really? Well, I gave you a warning so don’t blame me later.” Katherine said signalling the men to get closer to her. The men didn’t think twice and immediately attacked Katherine and the next thing made the crowd in confusion. The four men collided with each other sending them on the floor. “Where is she?” “Where did she go?” People are questionning each other not seeing Katherine.

Travis was shocked seeing Katherine beside him. “So, when this will end? I’m starting to get bored.” Katherine said making Drake grinned. Travis gave a one punch attack to Katherine but the latter avoided it. Again, Travis gave her a haymaker but to his annoyance, he missed her again. Because of Travis’ irritation, he decided to give Katherine continuous jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts but it made him angrier because all she did was to dodge all his attacks.

“Who the hell are you!?” Travis shouted sending fear to all his people including the four men who were still lying on the ground. Katherine gave him a sweet smile then, slowly walked towards Travis but now, with her serious face. Travis, for the first time, felt fear just looking at Katherine. He feared his elder brother the most but now, seeing her, he can’t explain what is happening to his quivering body.

When Katherine was just a meter away, she looked at Travis. “Vampires and humans are equal. You should not treat them as slaves or part of your diet. I have what I wanted. I don’t want to waste my time here. Never bother them again, let them live in peace.” Katherine said making Travis furrowed his forehead. “Celeste! Hunter!” Katherine shouted and the girl and the wolf she called approached her. Katherine looked at Drake and in an instant he vanished from the crowd.

“Who are you really?” Travis repeated again the question he’s been dying to know the answer. “We will meet again and when that comes, you will know the answer.” With that, she vanished into thin air together with Celeste and Hunter.

“Master!?” One of Travis’ man shouted. “The slaves are gone!” He said making Travis’ felt double crossed. The fear that he felt a while ago was now gone. It was replaced with anger. “Find them and kill them all!” Travis shouted.

“Hey!” Katherine said seeing Drake, Athan, Alaric, Blade, and Kieran are patiently waiting for her. To her surprise, Drake hugged her tightly, she smiled and hugged him back. “The PDA again.” Athan said making the rest laughed. “What happened?” Drake asked looking at her. “Tell you the story later. We have to get away from here.” Katherine said looking back at Celeste. That’s when they only realized that she’s with Hunter.

“My gosh, Hunter! You scared her.” Katherine shouted and if not for their situation now, the five men with her wanted to laugh because the huge vampire slash wolf whimpered because of Katherine’s voice. “Get her to safety, buddy.” Katherine said seeing that Travis’ men are nearing them. Drake placed Celeste at the back of Hunter. “Off you go, buddy. Take care of her.” Katherine said and the wolf immediately ran.

“I said we will meet again but I’m not expecting this soon.” Katherine said smiling talking to Travis who’s anger is evident to his face. “We had a talk but I was disappointed that you were the one who doesn’t have the word of honor.” Travis said and Katherine felt a little guilty over it but she had to make it sure that they are safe before anything could happen. “I’m sorry but their safety comes first.” Katherine said. “Kill them!” Travis shouted and his men redied themselves. Drake, Athan, Alaric, Blade, and Kieran shifted but Katherine didn’t.

“Why are you not shifting?” Drake asked. “I’m trying.” Katherine said. “What’s happening?” Drake asked again with confusion in his eyes. “I don’t know.” Katherine said. “Guys!?” Athan called their attention. “Protect her!” Drake said making his friends surround her. “What happened?” Athan asked. “I can’t shift.” Katherine answered. “What!? At this time, really?” Alaric said. “I guess so.” Katherine said. “Maybe, you’ve use enough power a while ago.” Blade said. “Yeah, maybe. But still I can fight.” Katherine said. “Okay, let’s do this.” Kieran said because Travis’ men started to disappear one by one and giving them attacks.

Drake didn’t leave her side but its making him uneasy because he had to protect himself and her from the assaults that their opponents are giving them.

“Get your filthy hands out of my man!” Katherine shouted with anger when one of the female vampire tried to bite Drake and in one swift move, her heart was on Katherine’s hand. “Hey, calm down.” Drake said stroking Katherine’s back. “Calm down!? She almost bit you!? I can’t shift!? My friends are fighting because of a nonsense reason!? How can I calm down!?” Katherine’s voice echoed throughout the woods sending shudder to Travis and to his men leading them to stop their assaults. All eyes are on Katherine. “You shifted.” Drake said. “And damn! You’re so beautiful.” Drake said not realizing that there are other vampires around them.

“I? What?” Katherine asked with furrowed forehead. “You already shifted and you are the most beautiful vampire I’ve ever seen.” Drake said still mesmerized on Katherine’s full transformation. Silver golden eyes, a beautiful face that can be compared to an angel sent from heaven, a voluptuous body, sharp pointed fangs and she was glimmering.

“Are we missing… Oh my god! Katherine, is that you!?” Amber can’t believe she’s looking at Katherine. “You are…shining?” Dawn said but she wanted to laugh on her word. “Your beautiful, Kath!” Thana said. “You have fully transformed?” Amdis asked. Katherine shrugged her shoulders. They all forgot what they were doing on the woods.

“It can’t be true. You’re not her. This is only a dream.” They all looked at the one who spoke and it was Travis. “I guess this is the answer to your question.” Katherine said looking at Travis. “No, no, no.” Travis said and started to stepped back. “This is all a lie. You are only a myth. You do not exist.” Travis said then, immediately disappeared from their sights. His men followed and left Katherine’s group. “Catch them!” Drake ordered. “No! Let them go. I don’t want anymore blood shed.” Katherine said.

Katherine felt her body weakens and she holds Drakes arms to get support. “Kath!” Drake said before Katherine loosen her grip on his arms and lost consciousness. “Let’s go home, she needs to rest.” Drake said looking lovingly on her.
