Impenetrable Dungeon - Chapter 2
As the Gods redirected their eyes, a bright light engulfed Gaia and Marcus. As they opened their eyes they found themselves in a white space. In front of them were three floating balls of light. In the middle was a golden light, to its left a white light and to its right a blue light.
“I heard your call child and I have responded,” a voice came from the golden light, “I am the Will of the Universe also known as the Universe Will. To my right is the Will of the Aether, whom I’m sure you are well acquainted with, and to my left is Heaven’s Will.”
“Huh?” Marcus said surprised. “Aren’t I dead?”
“No Master, you were but not anymore,” Gaia calmly replied.
“Eh? Gaia what are you doing here?” he asked.
“I am as curious as you are Master.”
“Would you care to enlighten me?” Marcus asked as he turned to the Universe Will.
The Universe Will sighed, “You are my child as such I was able to summon you to this place.”
“Your child?”
“Yes, all the Primalborn were my children. Unfortunately, because of me, you all had to die.”
“The Gods, Devils and Buddhas were afraid of you being too strong right?”
“That’s right. I couldn’t intervene either because they were always watching me. Thus I hatched a plan to create a new race, one which they couldn’t trace back to me and one which they wouldn’t be afraid of.”
“The Dungeon Cores.”
The Universe Will bobbed up and down to give the impression of nodding, “Unfortunately I do not have the liberty of explaining the intricate details to you. All I have time to say to you is that I have high hopes for you and that I am very proud of you my child.” With that, a bright light once again engulfed Marcus and Gaia.
Once they opened their eyes this time they found themselves in the Core Room.
“What just happened?” Marcus asked as he scratched his head. He tried to wrap his mind around what just happened but he had way too many questions. “Gaia do you have any idea what just happened?”
“Yes. You died, we got transferred to another dimension then we returned with some help from the Universe Will and the two other Supreme Wills,” it answered as a matter of factly.
“Yes I get that but how did I… Wait you said help?” Marcus asked as he turned around. He noticed that there were ten eggs in front of the floating Dungeon Core and a weird circle behind it.
The object was about three metres tall and it was purple in colour. It also had some engravings on it and it had glowing blue mana inscriptions.
As if reading his mind Gaia immediately explained, “The circle is a portal to the Void Realm which is a sort of junkyard where all the Gods, Devils and Buddhas throw away their trash. The Universe Will wanted to give us some resources to start with but in fear of the Gods, Devils and Buddhas noticing it gave us access to the Void Realm instead so that we can gather our own resources. As for the ten eggs they hold ten life forms from the entire universe from any race. According to the Universe Will what you get from them will be random and can even be a race that is already extinct. It is meant to be a replacement to the ten followers that a normal dungeon would get upon its conception. They will also be absolutely loyal to you.”
“WAIT WAIT WAIT! Say that again but slowly,” Marcus said as he waved his hands in front of him.
Thus came an hour of Gaia explaining and Marcus trying his hardest to wrap his mind around what Gaia was saying. After one hour Gaia couldn’t help but ask, “Master have you gone deaf?”
“No, it’s just…Never mind I’ll get over it. I guess I’m just so happy to have someone or something call me ‘my child’.” Marcus said as he rubbed his temples.
“Master if it makes you feel better I can call you brother,” Gaia helpfully offered.
“I’ll take you up on that,” Marcus said with a smile as he looked up. “I finally have a family…”
“Master our family will get bigger later on so you won’t have to worry about being alone anymore.”
“That’s right so let’s get some resources for the family shall we?” Marcus groaned as he stood up and walked towards the portal, “Get the portal on a pedestal, Gaia. I’ll go gather some resources in the Void Realm so we can start building up our dungeon.”
“Understood brother; we have three years to build up our dungeon which is plenty of time,” Gaia replied as it flashed brightly.
“How nice of them to even give us a [Mana Barrier]. Use materials from the room below the core room to make the pedestal.” Marcus ordered.
Soon a purple pedestal appeared at the end of the room opposite the entrance. On it was the Void Realm portal which was now online.
“Take care of the eggs, Gaia. I’ll be back in a year.” Marcus said as he walked towards the portal.
“Brother the time in the Void Realm is faster than here in the Dungeon World with 1 year being 1 month in the Dungeon world.” Gaia hurriedly informed him.
“Oh, then I’ll spend 12 years there then. That should be plenty of time to gather enough resources to put us on par with the other 71 dungeons.”
“Understood. Should I hatch the eggs while you are gone?” Gaia asked.
“No, we can do that together when I’m back. Just incubate them.”
“Have a safe and bountiful trip brother.”
Marcus simply waved back before disappearing in a flash of light.
