Impenetrable Dungeon - Chapter 34
Three minutes quickly passed yet the last guest of honour hadn’t arrived yet. The auctioneer was already on stage and was ready to start at any time. The first item up for auction had also been already rolled out onto the stage covered with a black piece of cloth. The audience were obediently sitting in their respective seats as they excitedly waited for the auction to start. Many people were merchants who were hoping to find hidden gems which would allow them to earn lots of money and allow them to live a more relaxed life. As time ticked down and the awaited moment arrived…the auction did not start as intended. This caused the excited guests to look around in confusion as they tried to figure out the cause for the delay. Fortunately, due to the reputation of the Thousand Treasures Auction, they were still waiting patiently to be kindly informed of the problems and for the auction to start. However, 30 minutes quickly passed and the auction had yet to start. This had caused a few ill-tempered guests to start angrily asking the staff for an explanation for wasting their time. The staff could only helplessly smile as they tried to explain to them the situation and ask them to calm down. When those guests heard that the person they were waiting for was a guest of honour, the highest guest of honour at that, they calmed down a bit. However, it was merely a temporary solution like using poison to quench one’s thirst – you still die in the end, it just takes longer and is more painful. Sure enough, after another 30 minutes passed and the last Dungeon Master had still not arrived. This caused the already impatient guests to start complaining; some even started to threaten the staff as they tried to use their connections to pressure the Thousand Treasures Auction. However, it was all futile in the end. The Thousand Treasures Auction would succumb to such weak powers no matter how many of them banded together. Regardless it was still in their best interest to start the auction before the guests of honour started getting angry. The guests of honour behind silver doors were still fairly easy to suppress but the guests of honour behind the golden doors had more than enough power to destroy the Thousand Treasures Auction. Worse their backer would probably not even intervene. Dungeon Masters are usually people who have offended someone powerful or are heinous criminals who have done unforgivable acts. They are either powerful people who have high cultivations or people who disregard all rules. The first two guests to enter behind the golden doors were a prime example. Their any move could easily kill anyone present a hundred times over. Between the other guests of honour or the final guest of honour, they had to choose a side.
Soon the manager of the auction was called by the auctioneer to make a decision. The consequences of such a decision were not something that the auctioneer could bear. Only the higher-ups could make such a decision and shoulder the responsibilities. A background check was quickly done on the final guest of honour and a decision was quickly made, forget the final guest and proceed with the auction. As soon as they higher-ups made their decision the auctioneer quickly started the auction, not daring to delay it further.
“Ladies and gentlemen thank for waiting. We ask for your understanding as a guest of honour was on his way here and we couldn’t start the auction without him. However, we have just received news that he would be unable to, unfortunately, attend the auction. Therefore the long-awaited THousand Treasures Auction shall begin immediately!”
“So decided to risk the wrath of the last Dungeon Master than gaining the displeasure of the rest of the Dungeon Masters,” Marcus said, “Interesting choice. Unfortunately, that decision was a trap. Now then how will this play out.”
for visiting.
“The first item is a Fire Core! It has accumulated-”
“WAIT!”
Just as the auctioneer was introducing the first item a loud booming voice suddenly rang out in the hall.
“You decided to start the auction without this reputed one? How dare you! You better compensate me appropriately!”
A middle-aged man slowly walked into the hall accompanied by three men covered in black robes. The middle-aged man wearing a golden battle armour with blue fur draped over his shoulders. He had large muscular arms, thick legs and a well-built body.
“Hurry up! Get my, Roas’, compensation!”
“I’m sorry Sir Roas,” the auctioneer started, “You were over an hour late for the start of the auction. The auction has been delayed because of your auctions and we should be the one asking for compensation. However, on the account that you are an honoured guest of our Thousand Treasures Auction Hall, we shall close an eye towards this matter and allow you to participate with the later proceedings of this auction. Men, please lead Sir Roas to his pocket dimension.
“You dare!” Roas thundered. “I asked for compensation and I’m going to get one!”
“Sir Roas please respect yourself and watch your actions. We of the Thousand Treasures Auction show respect towards you but we in no means fear you, please do not be mistaken.”
“Are you threathening me?” Roas asked with squinted eyes.
“We dare not to threaten Sir Roas however if you keep delaying the proceedings of this auction then we have no choice but to invite Sir Roas to leave.
“Impudent!” said one of the black-robed men while holding the axe strapped to his back, “Master was already kind enough to only ask for compensation instead of punishing your Thousand Treasures Auction Hall but you dare to refuse his toast? Who gave such guts?” The three black-robed men slowly inched forward holding their weapons while releasing a thick killing intent.
“Far daring to disrespect Master,” said another black-robed man, “I shall take your head as compensation!”
