Impenetrable Dungeon - Chapter 38
On the bottom floor, a vast fold of chairs stood inanimately in front of the glorious wooden stage where a man stood beside a massive cube-shaped object covered by a cloth as black as night. In the fold of chairs was a single man who sat all by his lonesome in the middle of the of all of them. Above him were floating silver doors which clumped together as they formed a ring in the air. The blinding silver gates formed a sacred silver ring. Above them were 70 divine golden gates which each formed a sacred world as they looked down scornfully on the world. Their proud and mighty gazes bombarded the flawed world below them. Meanwhile, those beyond the silver gates avoided their gazes in shame as they tried to build up their courage and puff out their chests proudly.
Suddenly, three silver banners fluttered down and floated in the air. On the banners were large words that said Thousand Treasures Auction. Beneath them were smaller silver words that said Elite Auction. This marked the beginning of the Thousand Treasures Auction’s Elite Auction. There were only one hundred items in this auction however most of the items would definitely catch the interest of the 72 Dungeon Masters. Moreover, the VIP guests would be salivating at every single treasure that would come out. This was how valuable the items that were about to be presented in this auction.
“Welcome once again ladies and gentlemen to our auction!” the auctioneer quickly opened up the auction. “I am Auctioneer and I will be your auctioneer for today! Without further ado let us present the first item!” With the lacklustre introduction of his name, the auctioneer pulled down the black cloth and revealed the first item of the auction. Beneath the cloth was a massive metal cage and there stood 10 warriors dressed in long black robes. On their backs were large greatswords that were twice their height and as wide as their bodies. They had well-toned arms and fierce bloodthirsty eyes. As the black cloth fell the ten warriors kicked open the gate and stood on the stage. They walked in front of the auctioneer as one cohesive unit and stood side by side as they presented themselves before the guests. They had furious eyes filled with bloodlust and rage; those were certainly not the eyes of people who are being sold as no different than slaves. Even if their status were akin to slaves the fires burning in their eyes sufficiently scared weaker guests who immediately refused to bid for them. The auctioneer saw all this but he just kept on smiling. “These ten warriors are Tracan warriors. Yes, the mighty Tracan warriors! These particular warriors are prisoners of war and were abandoned by their past masters. As you all know Tracan warriors are akin to mercenaries except that they sell their lives to their masters as well. Getting a hold of these warriors are no different from having a loyal guard who would die for you. However, it is very difficult to gain their loyalty. Since they were prisoners of war they couldn’t exactly just be set free so they decided to auction themselves off to the highest bidder. Whether this bidder is able to gain their loyalty or not is none of our Thousand Treasure Auction’s concern however the highest bidder must pay the price that is agreed upon. Either way, these Tracan warriors would be freed from the title of prisoners of war.”
Hearing this, those who decided to back out of the auction changed their minds. They might not be able to gain the loyalty of these mighty warriors but they might gain some relationship with them by setting them free. From the eyes of these warriors, they could easily tell that they were unresigned to have the title of prisoner of war labelled upon them. By offering coal on a winter day they may be able to create some good relations with these powerful warriors who may be able to lend a hand in the future in the case of a dire situation.
“These warriors are on the Divine Bridge Stage of the Mortal Shedding Realm. The starting bid is 10 DP and each consecutive bid must raise the price by at least 1 DP,” the auctioneer finally started the auction of the first item.
for visiting.
Hearing that they were on the Divine Bridge Stage of the Mortal Shedding Realm those opportunists’ eyes glowed even brighter. The price quickly escalated to 35 DP and it was rapidly climbing. So far only VIP guests were bidding and the 72 Dungeon Masters were silent. However, a loud booming suddenly came from one of the golden floors as he announced his bid, “95 DP!” Everyone rapidly turned their heads towards where the voice came from. Unafraid of their stares, the man behind the golden doors opened the doors and showed himself. A white-robed man slowly came into view as the golden doors creaked open.
Marcus saw the man behind those doors and smirked, “He is quite anxious to prove his worth to me.” As is proving his words that man silently turned his eyes in Marcus’ direction as he gave out a faint smile and an imperceptible bow. He then turned his gaze onto the stage once more. Suddenly his temperament changed to that of a sharp heroic sword that slew anyone who dared to bar its path. The ten Tracan warriors shuddered and bowed in submission to this mighty power. The auctioneer saw this and hurriedly ended the auction, “Sold!” He didn’t want to prolong the auction and risk the discontent of these Tracan warriors. Besides, they already acknowledged their new Master and nothing could change that. If anyone had any disagreements then they could talk to that man, Escor’s, sword. The VIP guests saw the auctioneer’s hurried movements and their faces turned ugly. However, there was nothing that they could do about it. They didn’t have the strength to oppose that white-robed swordsman. Even the other Dungeon Masters were unwilling to oppose Escor for ten Tracan warriors as it was simply not worth it. Perhaps only Marcus could do so without fearing any consequences. At the very least he had enough power to suppress whatever the consequence may be.
