Impenetrable Dungeon - Chapter 41
The twins being auctioned off signalled the end of the Elite Auction. Guests located behind the silver doors made their exists one by one with lowered heads. Some had smiles, others were indifferent or had frowned. However, none of them dared to make complaints especially after Escor’s show of might and his new purchases. In addition, Marcus’ financial strength scared them. After all, money really does make the world go round sometimes. Hiring a few assassins wouldn’t make a dent in his pocket and he might even gain benefits from killing them. Of course, Escor thought that Marcus didn’t need to do such a thing, a simple stare would probably suffice.
Meanwhile, Marcus was examining the two girls in front of him. He put his fingers on their soft slender toothpick like wrists. They were so thin and fragile because of their sickness preventing them from eating much. This has caused them to be malnourished. Despite that, they were still very beautiful. Marcus examined their faces with his deep eyes and took their pulses. He held their wrists for a minute before smiling and letting go.
He turned his attention to the auctioneer and told Gaia, “Call some people to teleport them over to the dungeon. Get them inside Pharos’ room when they get there. Keep them there until I return. Have Pharos and Xato guard them and have the other Honour Guards stay in their rooms.”
“Understood,” Gaia replied before creating a portal and teleporting with the bed and the two princesses in tow. Gaia quickly carried out Marcus’ orders and returned to his side.
for visiting.
By that time the auction was ready to start again. This time only 72 participants remained. The 72 golden doors transformed into 72 massive golden thrones, ones that giants could sit on. They floated in the air with a majesty that made people want to kneel and prostrate themselves. Among the 72 chairs, 71 were occupied and the last one was empty. This chair was obviously meant for Roas however due to his confrontation with the auctioneer he lost the privilege to sit upon this chair. Instead, he was sat cross-legged on the air as he watched auctioneer with cold eyes. The auctioneer boldly met his gaze with a warm conniving smile.
Marcus lifted his head as he gazed at a certain man in a white robe. Escor felt Marcus’ inquisitive gaze. He smiled in response refusing to give any other clues. Marcus saw this and smiled. He now felt that Escor was extremely suited to become his subordinate from the original curiosity. His gaze was no longer that of a stranger looking at another stranger but that of a lord looking at a candidate to be a subject. Marcus observed Escor for a few more moments before turning his attention to the other Dungeon Masters. He quickly glanced at them and surveyed their strengths. After he finished he mockingly looked up and smiled. Then he closed his eyes and waited for the auction to start. Meanwhile, the other Dungeon Masters were watching him with apprehensive looks. They were shocked to discover that they were unable to probe his strength. This caused them to take even greater caution against him and plans to gang up on him were brewing in their minds. Even the wild Roas couldn’t help but take a deep breath upon seeing Marcus. A grave quick flashed in his eyes before turning cold again and staring at the auctioneer. He made a mental note to avoid that man even if his mysterious backer said otherwise. This was because when he glanced at Marcus he saw nothing. No man, no air, nothing.
“Honourable Dungeon Masters we are honoured to have your presence here today,” the auctioneer started seeing that the Dungeon Masters stopped sizing each other up, “This the Special Auction of our Thousand Treasures Auction! In the future, if you wish to not take part in the earlier proceedings of our auction then please inform us. You may also send one of your subordinates to take part in your steed but please give us prior notice. If you are unable to come for whatever reason please kindly inform us.” The auctioneer directed a cold glare at Roas before continuing. “This Special Auction only has ten items however each item will definitely help you to better fulfil your job as a Dungeon Master. A Dungeon Will could even appear in this auction.” When the Dungeon Masters heard that they could help but be unsettled. Even the indifferent Marcus couldn’t help but open his eyes. The addition of a way to gain a new Dungeon Will was akin to giving the Dungeon Masters a way to gain a second life. With a second Dungeon Will, they could possibly find a new dungeon in the case of an unfortunate event. The auctioneer clear saw that he had adequately grasped the Dungeon Masters attention and dropped yet another bomb, “There might even be an object which could instantly build a powerful dungeon.” With the delivery of this line the entire room froze. Only a single person’s breath could be heard rhythmically beating. The auctioneer slightly creased his brows as he glanced at this person. However, being a professional he quickly proceeded with the auction, “With that being said let the auction begin!”
