_____
After leaving his home, it took Leo about an hour to reach his destination. He was currently in a park and front of him, a great church stood in all its glory.
The style of its structure was the same as any other church, simple and without too many decorations.
“It looks the same,” Leo muttered.
Everything looked the same as his memories, he had never been in this place but now it felt like he had been in this place many times.
It was time, he already had a plan in mind and knew what to do once he was in church.
Along the way, Leo thought of various plans as well, he obtained all the information he needed from the exorcists’ memories.
In short, the church was located in a distant town, added to this, only older people came when mass was celebrated, so in the church, there was only the priest and some exorcists who served Viper.
This was the perfect place for a base where illegal experiments were being conducted.
“The first one I will meet will surely be the priest,” Leo muttered as he walked to church.
It only took a few seconds for him to enter the church. Inside, he sat down to wait in one of the benches located in the first row.
“16:20, there’s still ten minutes to go” Leo checked the time on the large church clock and muttered before closing his eyes, he needed time to prepare, a long time.
In his mind, Leo began to prepare his spell. He was in a church and did not want an angel to interrupt him, it might be unlikely but according to exorcist memories, it was not impossible.
Ten minutes passed in an instant, through one of the doors behind the altar, a priest in a long white robe left and walked to the altar.
“What are you doing here?” The priest asked as soon as he noticed Leo’s presence.
The moment his question ended, he felt something grab his neck and lift him.
Leo stared at the priest in his clutches for a few seconds.
“This continues to surprise me … I think it will be difficult to get used to this,” Leo muttered while looking at the priest.
Feeling that you know a person when in fact you do not know him is rare.
After fifteen seconds, the priest felt short of air and struggled to free himself from the great black claw that held him; he was desperate; he needed air if this continued … he would die.
Many things went through the priest’s mind, but what hurt the most was the fact that a stranger would kill him.
“Ah … ah … Help” The priest ġrȯȧnėd in pain.
“Don’t bother asking for help. They won’t listen to you, both you and I know that the room is soundproof” Leo interrupted the priest’s pleas.
“How do you know?” The priest said after panting.
“I still haven’t mastered it so don’t go crazy,” Leo said.
The moment he finished his words, he gently touched the priest’s forehead with his index finger, and immediately the priest’s struggle stopped.
“I think this should work,” Leo muttered as he looked at the priest closely.
For three minutes, the priest remained inert, which caused Leo to start worrying about his mental health.
But after a few more minutes the priest stared at Leo and said: “Hurry, we don’t have all day”
* Sigh…
Leo sighed in relief, not yet in control of mind control. Manipulating the mind was quite complicated, people’s minds were fragile and mishandling could leave the person a little confused/disoriented for a few hours while in the worst-case scenario, they could go crazy or their mind would collapse leaving them alone an empty body.
He still did not know how the devils could do it in such a simple way, but according to his memories of the spells of the demons, it was necessary to control the soul of the person.
His memories of demon abilities were too many, so many that he didn’t know how to use his time to learn them all, and even worse, he needed years just to achieve basic control.
‘I don’t think I can learn them all, there are too many skills,’ Leo thought as he followed the priest.
The priest walked to a wall behind the altar and placed his hand on the wall. Seconds later, the wall clicked before a passageway opened.
Leo followed the priest down the passageway, continually looking at the wall.
‘No formations,’ Leo thought.
*Pam Pam
Leo came out of his stupor when he heard the priest knock on the enormous door was in front of him.
A few knocks later, a man opened the door.
“What’s going on?” The man asked.
“The Dr has a new patient” The priest informed the man.
“Extra patient? They killed all the test subjects. Where did this child come from?” The man asked.
“He is one survivor. He could survive because of some mutation.” The priest replied.
“Mutation? that would interest the doctor…” The man muttered before opening the door.
“Come on,” the man ordered.
Leo followed the man and again had to walk down a long hallway. The hallway was so long that he didn’t know if it was still inside the church or outside, so he resumes the creation of the spell.
The priest returned to the altar, picked up the cup on the ground, and sang while cleaning it with a cloth.
“Child, you must eat everything,” the priest murmured and walked to the altar.
___
The tunnel tour ended, and the duo arrived in a room with several beds covered by a white veil. Although the beds caught Leo’s attention, he momentarily ignored them, he already knew what was in those beds so he followed the man to a door at the end of the room.
“Come in,” the man ordered.
Inside the room, there were several machines and surgical instruments and to one side, a metal chair with strange chains made of the same material rested waiting for its next patient.
“Sit down,” the man ordered as he made his way to a corner of the room.
Hearing his words, Leo followed his order and sat down in the chair.
“If you don’t sit down, I will have to make you do it,” The man said without looking back.
Holding a machine, he turned to Leo and was surprised to see him sitting on the chair.
Normally he had to force the children to sit, so it was strange that they were so submissive.
‘Have they brainwashed him?’ The man thought.
It was usual that while they experimented with the child’s the investigators put strange ideas in the head of these children. Some of them couldn’t stand the experiments that were carried out, so eventually, they mentally collapsed, giving free passage to manipulators like Valper.
“Tobei” The man screamed.
A few seconds later, a teenager entered the room.
“Sir?” Tobei asked.
“Take care of the boy, he’s submissive so he won’t give you any trouble but just in the case, tie him up,” The man motioned to Tobei before leaving the room.
Tobei nodded to the man, approached Leo and said: “Don’t worry, they won’t hurt you. The doctor will examine you to make sure that your body does not have any abnormalities”
Holding the chains that were glued to the arms of the chair, Tobei gently tied Leo’s hands.
“It might be a little tight, hold it,” Tobei said as he tightened the chains.
After chaining him, Tobei picked up a face mask usually used in hospitals to anesthetize patients and gently applied them to Leo. Now he just had to wait for the anesthesia to take effect.
The methods may have been very abrupt, but they were necessary, some young people could not control themselves and hurt themselves, there was also a patient who could not feel pain, so dealing with her was quite a problem, so it was necessary to sedate her.
Leo felt numb for a few seconds before his mind cleared. But immediately, everything went black.
This surprised Leo. Since the exorcist lab incident, he discovered that his body could quickly get rid of the effects of poisons and toxins, but it works faster in his body.
‘What’s going on?’ Leo thought, exalted by the strange change.
“Did you get the location of the bases?”
“Yes, 1 is in Japan and the others are located abroad. I couldn’t get its exact location”
‘Are these the memories of Kusunoki?’ Leo thought after hearing the voice that was known to him.
“What will be the location of your transfer?”
“Japan”
“Okay, once you get to Japan I’ll try to get back in touch with you. If I cannot contact you, leave Valper and follow the orders of the church until further notice”
“Mn”
‘…’ Leo thought. If Kusunoki’s peripheral vision did not fail, what he saw out of the corner of his eye was a magic circle with a structure similar to the circles created by devils.
‘Is he a spy?’ Leo thought even more confused, he saw Kusunoki’s life since he was a child. He saw how he grew up, he fell in love and married, but he did not see what happened next.
In the beginning, Leo expected the typical story where the wife was killed by a demon and because of that, he would join the church, but it would not be so simple.
(NA: Yes, those chapters were not just filler)
As various conjectures formed in his mind, Leo forgot what happened on the outside.
Inside the room
“It’s already ready?” An old man in a doctor’s gown entered the room and asked the man who led Leo into the room.
“Yes,” The man replied before returning to his post as a guard of the door for him it was rare to see the old man but for the words of the priest, it was worth the old man to examine him.
Normally the elder was only in charge of monitoring the status of the “successes” and recording his data, the data collected by the old man would be sent to investigators and used in the test subjects. The process is repeated repeatedly.
In this way, slowly the results of the experiments improved but the number of “successes” that died increased.
“Tobei, go prepare Koichi for the routine exam,” The old man said with a smile as he walked to a nearby table with medical equipment on it.
“Mn” Tobei nodded before leaving the room.
