In Line - Chapter 6
I made it home as safe as one could. In other kingdoms, royals and nobility were accompanied at all times by guards, but the city outside our castle walls was home to many royal guards and Knights. If a need for assistance ever reared its head, my siblings and myself were convinced we’d have little to no trouble finding help. Still, Queen Mother and King Father were not advocates for our leaving the castle alone, so when I made my return that night, I did so quietly.
My feet were tired, and I was cold from the wind chill as I climbed steps to reach my quarters. All I wanted to do was lay in my bed and greet sleep. I got the first half of my wish, but the other would have to wait.
To my surprise, someone was waiting for me when I made it to my room. She was in my bed laying under the sheets. How did she get past the guards?
With her head concealed by linen, she spoke. “Turn out the lights,” she said. Out of my view, I was confused and too deep in the night. I asked her name, and she told me she was a lady. I knew right then who I was dealing with. I turned off the lights, and that’s when it began.
Passion and fury.
She took from me what was only mine to give.
