Infection: Dying Days - Volume 1 Chapter 36 A Sense Of Foreboding 1
“If you think about it Sara, he’s right. We’ll be a lot safer if we travel in small groups. Traveling in big groups would only make an easy target.”
“You see? Even David agrees with what I was saying! The safest way for us to get out of here is to break away from the rest and travel on our own. You gotta trust us on this.”
“… Okay.”
Sara said with a slight hesitation. It seems like she wanted to say something. Having a faint idea of what she wanted to say, I ask.
“Worried about your friends?”
With a nod, she replies.
“Yeah. It doesn’t feel right to just separate from everybody else. It feels like we’re abandoning them.”
“I’m not gonna lie, I also feel the same way. I can’t leave Hunter and the rest.”
David said with a small frown as he agreed to Sara’s statement. Which side are you on? Mine or hers?
Anyways, I get what they’re saying. But because I didn’t play any sports or join any clubs the whole time I was here, my sense of camaraderie towards their friends is a little shallow. If they say ‘hi’, I’ll reply with a ‘hi’ and that’s it. We’re simply acquaintances.
But taking in the fact that they’re David and Sara’s teammates, I said to the two.
“How about this then? If they want to come, we’ll bring them with us. However, only ask them after we reach the bus garage. I can’t risk them blabbing.”
“That’s great!”
“Thanks Desmond.”
The two said happily. Seeing this and realizing that I’ve finished saying what I needed to say, I hopped off Mr. Cole’s desk and walked towards the door.
“Where you going?”
David asked. Without turning around, I simply opened the door and said.
“I’m done saying all I needed to say to you guys so I’m heading back to the gym. If necessary, I’ll get up with you again.”
“Desmond wa-”
“David, didn’t you hear what I just said?”
In a cold voice as I cut him off mid sentence.
“I know I what you’re trying to do so stop. Unless it’s necessary, don’t talk to me.”
After saying my piece, I didn’t bother to look back at their disappointed faces and exited the office. And the moment the door was closed, I could faintly hear David consoling Sara.
Did he think just because we spoke that h e could use this as a good to time to try and smooth things over? I don’t think so! Until I get my apology, this is how it’s going to be.
However, once I go over what just transpired in the office a mocking smile appears on my face.
It was not aimed at them but at myself.
“Heh, I guess actions do speak louder than words. I’m too soft on them.”
Saying this to no one in particular, I enter the gym area.
I wonder how Big Sis is doing right now?

In one of the school’s hallways.
“Aaah!”
SMASH!
A battle was being concluded. On the way to the garage, we encountered six infected.
Luckily before we left the gym, it was decided that we would fight with two groups of four. These two groups will change people after every other encounter with the infected in order to save energy.
This made it pretty easy for us to dispatch them. I didn’t even have to use my martial arts.
Pulling the javelin I had out of an infected’s eye socket. I spoke to the people around me.
“Good work everyone. If we keep up the pace, we’ll make it to the bus garage in no time. Andy, would you take the front?”
“My pleasure.”
“…”
Seeing the crazed smile on Andy’s face as he happily marched ahead in search of more infected, I couldn’t help but be silently surprised.
Is this really Andy?
This side of him is severely different from his usual perverted one. I can feel a deep sense of excitement coming from him.
In fact, it’s not just him. Although, it’s not as prominent as Andy’s due to their fear, all the other boys are excited too. What is going on?
… Maybe this isn’t a bad thing. If they keep up this momentum, we might make it to the bus garage quicker!
With this in mind, I chose two other people who I felt were adequate enough to fight to go and join Andy.
“We’re close to the garage everyone so hang on a little more.”
Mr. Ackland, who’s been quiet all this time suddenly said in an encouraging voice followed by a gentle smile. This made a few of the girl students admiringly throw looks his way, as if he’s done something great.
The only thing he’s been doing this entire time was standing behind us while we fought the infected. Hell, even Ms. Chester fought alongside us and she’s 54!
He then glances my way.
Ugh, talk about disgusting. I send back an intense glare of displeasure. If it wasn’t for me being student council president, I would’ve punched him right in the face.
“Haha!”
Mr. Ackland lightly chuckled before settling down again.
Sigh, where’s Desmond when I need him? If he was here right now, I’m sure he would have a witty remark about this.
“President Yang, you might want to see this!”
From down the hall, Andy’s voice was heard. He seems anxious.
Giving an ‘on my way’ I head towards where Andy was at.
“Amanda, come with me.”
“Eh? O-okay.”
But not before bringing Amanda with me. I saw Mr. Ackland as stealing glances at her. Who knows what suave words he might say when I’m gone.
“What is it?”
When I arrived, I see Andy and the other two were looking around a corner with eyes of fear and anxiousness. One of them even had vomit on their shirt from throwing up.
“What’s going on?”
I asked.
“Take a look yourself.”
Without even bothering to answer, Andy moved away from the corner to let me look.
“!!?”
The moment I looked around the corner my eyes got wide and my mouth slightly agape.
What was in that hallway was a scene that will stick with me forever!
It’s was truly horrific!
