Inside The Black Mist - Chapter 100 - Steps
Yun Ze’s face was ashen, his expression grim, as he strode into the hall from outside.
Beside him, Wang Liangyi, with eyes as sharp as a hawk’s, raised the sword in his hand, its scabbard engraved with the character “Night,” a bit higher.
Several Frost Guards spread out behind them, their guns all pointed at Tianyang. In the hall, Zhou Wang was already dead, making it clear who the threat was.
Finally, Kong Zhang, dressed in protective gear, and the captain of the Sun Spear squad, Adam, also entered.
Seeing the scene in the hall, Adam’s expression changed, and he couldn’t help but glance at Tianyang.
After the fungi in Gemstone Town started to glow, Kong Zhang planned to collect more samples in the town, so Yun Ze brought his men to accompany him.
When they arrived nearby, the trees overtaken by fungi caught Kong Zhang’s attention, and they turned onto this street, where they heard the sound of something heavy falling from this strange building.
Naturally attracted, the team entered, only to find Zhou Wang lying dead.
In fact, Yun Ze didn’t like Zhou Wang. This guy had a notorious reputation, and Yun Ze despised him just for the way he had tried to seduce Xun.
Zhou Wang had been exiled to the base, initially destined for the mines, but Yun Ze’s father, Yun Sheng, had pulled him out of the mines and assigned him to Yun Ze as a guard.
Yun Ze didn’t need such a guard, but his father believed Zhou Wang could help Yun Ze in his pursuit of that glorious young lady.
Their branch of the Yun family didn’t hold high status; otherwise, Yun Ze wouldn’t need to frequently enter the Inverse Universe to manage the mines near the base.
If Yun Ze could marry Xun, his ranking among the younger generation would rise, giving him a chance to inherit the family.
Although Yun Ze didn’t see how Zhou Wang could help him pursue Xun, he kept him at Yun Sheng’s insistence.
But now Zhou Wang was dead.
Even if he was just a dog, he was still a Yun family dog, and Yun Ze felt a bit embarrassed.
So he looked at Tianyang and said, “Aren’t you going to give me an explanation?”
Tianyang stared at Wang Liangyi. From the moment this man entered the hall, he had an aura of hidden but overwhelming pressure.
The invisible sense of oppression came in waves, hitting Tianyang repeatedly.
From Wang Liangyi, Tianyang sensed a faint hostility, forcing the boy to focus much of his attention on the man with sharp eyes.
“Zhou Wang had a grudge against me. He saw me alone and intended to kill me, but I turned the tables on him. That’s the situation.” Tianyang lightly tapped his left eye. “This is an electronic eye with a recording module. If you don’t believe me, you can use the equipment to read it when we return to the base, and you’ll see the whole incident.”
Yun Ze remained silent, but moments later, his expression changed from grim to sunny, and he laughed and said, “I believe you.”
He gently kicked Zhou Wang. “This bastard could indeed do something so stupid.”
“However…”
This word with a tone of transition made Tianyang’s heart sink slightly.
Yun Ze’s gaze fell on the mechanical password box in the boy’s hand. “You need to hand over the weapons and the item in your hand to me for now. Once your innocence is confirmed at the base, you can have them back.”
Almost without thinking, Tianyang shook his head and said, “I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
This suitcase contained Su Lie’s secrets, which was the reason Tianyang came to Gemstone Town. Now that he had finally found it, there was no way he would hand it over to the Yun family.
As for the weapons, after Qin Wu’s precedent, the boy wouldn’t casually give up his weapons again.
Yun Ze sighed, “I’m not negotiating with you…”
He gave Wang Liangyi a faint look.
The eagle-eyed man had already launched himself forward like a cannonball breaking through the air, the hall resounding with a terrifying whistle!
Just as he was about to reach Tianyang, the boy’s whole body glowed, and with a nimble movement, he sidestepped Wang Liangyi’s charge.
Wang Liangyi let out a surprised sound, halted, changed direction, and suddenly accelerated.
Tianyang wanted to move again, but he felt invisible forces enveloping him from both sides. His face changed drastically, but he reached for the Crimson Moon Warblade.
Wang Liangyi snorted, lightly stroked the sword hilt, and flashed in front of Tianyang.
Clang!
The Crimson Moon Warblade was unsheathed, drawing a dark red arc as it slashed towards Wang Liangyi’s face.
Wang Liangyi’s sword extended three inches, and its hilt struck the blade of the Crimson Moon Warblade.
Tianyang’s pupils slightly dilated, and his whole body began to tremble uncontrollably. The force on Wang Liangyi’s hilt was strange; it was both extremely fierce and forceful, causing his knife to lift slightly.
Tianyang barely managed to grip the knife tightly to prevent it from flying out of his hand, but the blade vibrated violently, causing his entire body to shake along with it.
Even the Starlight Energy within him was affected by this vibration, making it difficult to control.
Finally, a soft and gentle force took advantage of the chaos, swiftly coursing through Tianyang’s body. Wherever it passed, his Starlight Energy dimmed and lost its brilliance.
After this force made a circuit through his body, Tianyang felt weak in his limbs, and both his knife and the briefcase fell to the ground.
Only then did Wang Liangyi push his long sword back into its sheath and turn to walk away. Several Frost Guards rushed over to arrest Tianyang.
“Stop!”
Adam shouted, drawing his long sword and positioning it in front of Tianyang.
Wang Liangyi stopped, turned, and placed his hand on his sword hilt.
Yun Ze frowned. “Captain Adam, what are you doing?”
Adam spoke in a deep voice, “Mr. Yun Ze, I can guarantee that Tianyang absolutely didn’t intend to kill Zhou Wang. At this point, I might as well tell you that Tianyang is here in Gemstone Town on a special mission assigned by headquarters.”
“I believe this briefcase is part of that special mission. It might involve the Night Walkers’ strategic deployment in the Inverse Universe, so I can’t let you take him, or the briefcase, away.”
“If necessary, Mr. Yun Ze, you can confirm this with Minister Shen.”
Yun Ze’s expression was displeased. “Even so, Zhou Wang was still a member of the Yun family. Now that he’s dead, the Night Walkers must give me an explanation, right?”
Adam nodded. “How about this? Until we return to the base, we’ll restrict Tianyang’s movements. Mr. Yun Ze can temporarily hold his weapons, but the briefcase must stay. If anything else happens, I will take full responsibility. Mr. Yun Ze, does this work for you?”
Yun Ze’s gaze shifted to Tianyang.
This time, the boy was straightforward, removing the knife and the assault weapon and handing them to the Frost Guard beside him.
Since Adam had stepped up to vouch for him, refusing to cooperate would make things too difficult for him.
Seeing Tianyang hand over his weapons, Yun Ze secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He didn’t care much about Zhou Wang’s death, and he believed that most of what Tianyang said was true.
But he needed a way out of this situation; otherwise, as a member of the Yun family, how could he command respect in the future?
Now that Adam had stepped up to vouch for him and Tianyang had handed over his weapons, although it wasn’t exactly what he wanted, it was acceptable.
Yun Ze nodded slightly and said generously, “Then he’s in your hands, Captain Adam.”
Adam graciously accepted the favor and called for a team member to escort Tianyang back to the camp.
The confrontation was temporarily resolved.
