Inside The Black Mist - Chapter 55 - Examination
Han Shu habitually took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, then glanced at the “no smoking” sign on the wall and reluctantly put the cigarettes away.
“Anyway, the matter with the Qin family ends here. But this incident serves as a lesson for some short-sighted individuals, preventing them from thinking they can do whatever they want just because they hold a tiny bit of authority. Hmph, the Night Walkers are not to be trifled with!”
“Oh, by the way, this is for you.”
Han Shu took out a set of keys from his pocket and tossed them to Tianyang. “Your apartment application has been approved. This is the key. The address should be sent to your communicator. You can move in whenever you’re discharged. Also…”
“Regarding your mother, her medical examination is complete. According to the report, she was injured in the black mine, received no treatment afterward, and was even subjected to overseer abuse…”
Tianyang’s breath immediately became heavy.
Han Shu glanced at him and continued, “This matter is being dealt with. When I arrived, the responsible person at the mine and several executives had already been taken by the Iron Wall. I’ve heard rumors that there will be a cleanup of the black mine and factories in the lower district. From now on, workers and prisoners must receive timely medical treatment after injuries. The Fortress will increase supervision to ensure similar incidents won’t happen again.”
“In addition, your mother’s body is currently preserved in the morgue of the medical center. After you can get out of bed, you can go see her. The commander has already applied for a plot in the Fortress cemetery for her. You can bury her there when the time comes.”
Tianyang nodded and said, “Thank you.”
Han Shu patted his shoulder heavily. “Are you okay?”
“Saying I’m okay would be deceiving. But I can get through it.” Tianyang lifted his head. “I’ll manage, somehow.”
Han Shu smiled.
Tianyang thought of the Sublimation Node and asked, “By the way, Captain Han, I have a question, and I’d like to seek your advice.”
Han Shu laughed. “What is it? Falling for a girl? If you want advice on emotional matters, you’ve come to the right person. I have rich experience in this area!”
Tianyang’s mouth twitched, about to ask, when the door of the ward opened, and someone outside asked, “Excuse me, the Night Walkers’ Lieutenant… Oh, it’s Captain Han Shu. It seems I don’t need to ask; I’m in the right place.”
A middle-aged man in his fifties walked in, his body upright like a javelin.
He was dressed in a black and blue uniform, with intricate golden patterns on his shoulder and a dark gold shield-shaped badge on his chest. Everything indicated that this man, with a warm smile on his face, was a high-ranking figure!
Han Shu saw his appearance, and his expression changed. He stood up.
He opened his mouth to speak, but the man gestured, and Han Shu had to swallow the words he was about to say.
It was the first time Tianyang saw Han Shu being so “obedient,” and he couldn’t help but scrutinize the middle-aged man in front of him.
The man also looked at Tianyang and said, “A hero emerges in troubled times. I didn’t expect you to be so young. Not bad; daring to storm the Qin mansion alone shows courage.”
“Come in, Dong Fang.”
Another man in his forties with a scar on his face walked over and placed a gift box on the cabinet beside the bed.
“I just happened to come here to visit an old friend. I heard you were here, so I came to take a look.” The middle-aged man with white gloves smiled, patting Tianyang’s shoulder. “Take good care of your injuries. In the future, you young people will be needed to support the Fortress’ future.”
He nodded slightly to Han Shu before leaving the ward with his subordinate.
Only after he left did Tianyang turn to Han Shu and asked, “Captain, who is that?”
“Cao Gang!” Han Shu said in a low voice. “The commander of the Iron Wall City Defense System. Why would he come here? No, I have to find someone with the surname Ling. Cao Gang definitely didn’t come to visit a Lieutenant for no reason.”
He left this remark and ran out of the ward. However, it seemed like he bumped into someone outside, and a soft exclamation reached the ward.
Then, the voice of Luo Shan sounded, “Han, you’re an adult. Can’t you walk more carefully?”
Han Shu laughed. “I didn’t bump into you. Why are you so nervous? Nothing’s wrong, little girl. Came to visit your boyfriend?”
“Han… Captain Han, what nonsense are you talking about?” This was Xun’s voice.
Han Shu chuckled. “You young people have thin skin. When you reach my age, you’ll understand that life is short. If you meet someone you like, just go for it. Drink a bit of wine in the evening and sleep together.”
“Han Shu, you better leave now; don’t corrupt Xun.”
“Okay, okay, I’m leaving. Luo Shan, will you come to my dorm tonight? I’ll treat you to some drinks.”
“If you don’t leave, I’ll give you a shot that will keep you soft for the rest of your life. Do you want to try it?”
“Don’t, don’t; I’m leaving. Goodbye.”
After a commotion, Luo Shan and Xun walked into the room. The latter’s face still had a hint of blush, probably due to Han Shu’s teasing.
Luo Shan glanced at Tianyang, smiling. “Xun, treat him.”
The girl in a pink nurse outfit today obediently agreed, walked to Tianyang’s side, and placed her hands on the wound on his waist.
At the collarbone, a hexagram-shaped pattern lit up, with the number “1” in the center and golden light scattered from the edges.
Xun’s palms emitted waves of warmth and bright light, like the morning sun lit up in the center of her palms. Specks of light floated down, entering Tianyang’s wound.
Tianyang immediately felt an itching sensation at the wound, and the injury was rapidly healing.
“Sorry, I didn’t go last night…”
Tianyang glanced at Luo Shan, who was busy checking his physiological data and didn’t pay attention to their side.
Xun gently shook her head. “It’s okay. I know everything about your situation. I’m sorry about Aunt. You… don’t be too sad.”
Tianyang smiled and nodded. “Thank you.”
Xun thought for a moment and said, “When you’re discharged, I’ll cook you a delicious meal to celebrate. But this time, you can’t stand me up.”
“Okay,” the young man readily agreed.
The treatment was over.
Luo Shan, holding a data tablet, said to Xun, “You can go busy yourself; I’ll check on him again.”
After Xun left, Luo Shan closed the door to the ward and even locked it!
Tianyang looked at her in confusion, not knowing what this physician was up to.
Luo Shan took off her glasses and let down the golden hair piled on her head. Then suddenly, Tianyang seemed to see a golden fringe.
Then, the physician took off the white coat, revealing a black lace-trimmed blouse inside. The blouse, puffed up by the twin peaks and cinched into the skirt, laid flat against her abdomen.
The two straight, long legs extending from the skirt displayed their charming curves under the sunlight, making Tianyang feel a bit dry in the mouth.
Tianyang wasn’t Han Shu; he quickly shifted his gaze to the cold instruments on the bedside. Unexpectedly, a fragrant breeze blew, and then Luo Shan used two slender fingers to bring his face back.
So, that devastatingly beautiful face appeared in front of him. The two noses were almost about to touch each other.
“Doctor Luo Shan, what are you…”
Luo Shan’s lips slightly parted, and she smiled ambiguously, “It’s time for a check-up, young man.”
