Inside The Black Mist - Chapter 68 - The Wizard
As the drizzle just settled, beams of starlight passed through the spot where she had just been, pointing directly at the silently appearing figure.
The hand originally reaching for Ji Yu’s pink back instead turned towards the beams of light. The black flames on the hand surged, devouring the light beams like a swamp with no way in or out. More beams shot towards it, and the hand retracted, forming a triangular gesture with the other hand.
The figure swiftly contracted, as if a black hole appeared behind it, shrinking into it and reappearing several meters away.
Tianyang’s shots missed instantly.
Han Shu kicked a nearby bonfire, sending burning dry branches in all directions, creating a circle of firelight.
The two Falcon armored vehicles also turned on their headlights, illuminating the camp, and allowing Tianyang to finally see the appearance of that figure.
It looked like a hunched person, wrapped in layers of cloak-like garments. Tangled strips of grayish-white cloth wrapped around the hands and waist.
Wearing a hood, the face was completely invisible, only a deep shadow inside the hat was visible.
From beneath the layered fabric on the chest hung a triangular pendant. This ornament was metallic, with distorted lines on the surface, adorned with red and blue crystals.
What is this?
“It’s a Wizard!” Lao Xu exclaimed, his face tense. “Danger Level 3, different individuals have varying abilities. The only commonality is their short-distance teleportation ability. Due to a lack of research materials, the appearance and locations of their Will Cages are unpredictable.”
Han Shu’s mouth twitched slightly as he said, “This is really good news.”
Tianyang whispered, “It’s only Danger Level 3, and our Captain is Rank 4. With us…”
Lao Xu smiled bitterly, “The Captain is a fortress class, mostly defensive. The only offensive ability he possesses is the skill ”Charge.”
”
“Even so, I can take it down!” Han Shu lifted the Star Essence spear and initiated the charge, and spiral ripples appeared on the outer layer of the spear, heading straight toward the dark creature known as the Wizard!
However…
Han Shu had only covered half the distance when the Wizard’s figure twisted, and when it reappeared, it was already behind Lao Xu.
Fortunately, Lao Xu was very alert. As soon as the Wizard made a move, regardless of whether the target was himself or not, he immediately dropped to the ground, evading the Wizard’s grasp.
On the other side, Han Shu had to stop, yelling in frustration.
Lao Xu looked helpless. “This is the most worrying aspect for me. The Wizard’s movement is too fast. Although our Captain is Rank 4, with his speed, it’s better not to mention it…”
Swish—
The sound of arrows cutting through the air echoed in the camp. It turned out that Ji Yu, taking advantage of the creature’s visibility, half-kneeled and shot an arrow at the Wizard.
The Wizard raised its hand, and flames suddenly erupted, silently devouring the arrow made of Star Essence energy. It lifted the other hand, extending a thin and long finger and pointing towards Cang Du.
The ponytailed young man was slow to react; a beam of black light hit the barrier in front of him. The Star Essence barrier that Han Shu had just applied to his teammate was shattered, but at least it saved Cang Du’s life.
Cang Du broke into a cold sweat. If it weren’t for the barrier, he might have been taken down by now.
“Be careful, everyone!” Han Shu pointed the Star Essence spear towards Cang Du, applying another layer of barrier to the ponytailed young man.
Tianyang and Ji Yu were now both attacking, their guns and bows rarely stopping, desperately aiming at the Wizard.
But as the Wizard teleported behind Lao Xu, both of them hesitated, and they were forced to abandon their attacks.
Lao Xu turned around and forced the Wizard back with his sword. At this moment, Cang Du, who had circled around to the rear, took the opportunity to stab a sword into the Wizard’s back.
The long sword broke through its chest, but Cang Du’s face showed no joy at his success; instead, it revealed a puzzled expression.
Moreover, the Wizard didn’t seem injured. It turned around, and a palm filled with black flames slammed toward Cang Du.
A bright light appeared in front of the ponytailed young man. The barrier Han Shu had just applied shattered once again. Cang Du quickly withdrew his sword, dodging left and right to avoid the subsequent black fire shot out by the Wizard’s fingertips.
Wanting to pursue, the Wizard suddenly turned its head. It was because Han Shu was once again rushing towards it, wielding the long spear.
It immediately clasped its hands together, making a triangular gesture. Seeing this, Han Shu shouted, “Don’t run, damn it!”
The figure twisted, reappearing over ten meters away, once again creating distance from Han Shu. Then, from its seemingly frail body, a deafening scream erupted, causing everyone present to wince in pain.
After a moment, unable to intervene, the soldiers on alert outside the battle circle discovered that the mad dogs and elusive archers had returned!
Upon hearing the alarm, Cang Du sounded irritated. “It definitely set us up before. Judging by this quantity, it could have easily taken us down earlier!”
Lao Xu wiped the sweat from his forehead. “So you guys coming back was intentional on its part. It wanted to use you to locate our camp, right?”
Han Shu exclaimed, “Are these dark scoundrels really this clever?”
No one answered because the answer was already apparent.
Cang Du snorted, exerted force to sprint, and charged towards the Wizard.
Lao Xu, fearing he couldn’t handle it alone, quickly followed.
The two swords wove together with a burst of sword light. If it were any other dark creature, they might have already been crushed by this burst of sword light.
But the Wizard’s short-distance teleportation ability repeatedly allowed the dark creature to escape.
Cang Du became increasingly agitated. “This thing keeps flashing around, and for a while, I can’t even touch its clothes. How do we fight it?”
As they spoke, Cang Du, wielding the Springwater(Qingshui) Longsword made a thrust, but it only pierced through the air.
The Wizard suddenly appeared behind Lao Xu, this time not reaching out to touch but raising a finger. Even though Lao Xu had rolled away two positions, he was still hit by the dark fire bundle.
The barrier shattered, and before Lao Xu could breathe a sigh of relief, he saw another point of black light between the Wizard’s fingers.
Rapid Fire!
A sharp red beam descended, the Wizard’s finger danced, and the black light at its fingertip flashed twice before extinguishing.
Cang Du stared wide-eyed; in his line of sight, beside the Wizard, was a silver-haired youth holding two knives!
Han Shu whistled. “You’re in trouble, kid!”
Tianyang succeeded with a slash, and the Crimson Moon Warblade rose again, suddenly sweeping it.
At this moment, as the Wizard was about to close his hands, seeing the battle blade sweeping horizontally, he had to leap backward, creating distance.
Lao Xu exclaimed, “Why isn’t it using teleportation abilities now?”
Han Shu also noticed this point. The Wizard’s teleportation ability was quite troublesome, and it had been playing with them in circles using this ability.
But now, it gave up the convenient teleportation ability and opted for more cumbersome evasion actions.
Tianyang had already closed in again, the Crimson Moon Warblade shaking out crimson knife waves. The offensive was like a tide, constantly rolling towards the mysterious, dark creature in front of him.
The Wizard, who had just held the advantage, was now at a disadvantage. Occasionally, it shot a black fire bundle at Tianyang, but it barely forced the young man back.
Tianyang’s speed was too fast, especially after enhancing his physical abilities. His reactions had significantly improved. The youth dragged the visible silver brilliance, changing his movement trajectory unpredictably. This not only made the Wizard’s attacks miss but also allowed him to launch unexpected counterattacks.
The youth finally severed the Wizard’s right hand after another slash.
Tianyang stopped, and in that moment of stillness, sweat beads instantly covered his forehead.
The intense skirmish just now had consumed a considerable amount of his energy and Star Essence, but it was worthwhile because…
“Next, you won’t be able to use teleportation, right?!”
Tianyang wiped away the sweat with a slight smile on his lips.
