Into the Zombie World - Chapter 251: Threats
Jellan stared at them menacingly as if a bird protecting its chicks. However, the chick was not her offspring but instead, it was her lover- Nile.
“Good! Now all of you, follow me!” Jellan said while she stood up from the spot beside Nile.
The others followed behind her obediently as they did not want to get kicked by her, just like what Jeric had just experienced earlier. Although they felt reluctant going far away from Nile again when they just met, they could do nothing other than to follow Jellan.
After a while, they arrived at another area far from Nile, but they could still see him, especially Jellan who was already a Level Two human. Jellan beckoned for everyone to sit and others followed obediently without question.
“I just also met Nile earlier, so I don’t know what’s the real deal. However, I’ll brief you on what I know.”
“First things first, I think he has a low kind of amnesia. He could not remember certain things, for example, this house. He forgot about the minor details and he did not even recognize me at first glance and it was only when I mentioned it repeatedly that he was able to remember me. At first, I thought he was only messing with me but I further confirmed that he wasn’t when he could not recognize this house.” Jellan said in all seriousness which made the others even more nervous.
“Will Nini still remember us?”
“How did it happen? Nini was the smartest right?”
“You ask me but who will I ask? Stupid!”
…
The others become chaotic as they feel scared that their big brother, Nile, would no longer recognize them when he woke up. What if he was no longer the same Nile they knew?
A bunch of what if’s surfaced their mind as they voiced out their worries one by one.
“Enough!” A low yet domineering voice from Jellan instantly stopped the chatters of the children around her. This is the real reason why she wanted to talk about this far from where Nile was currently at. She was afraid of waking him up prematurely due to the noise created by the children the moment they knew of something like that.
“Let me finish first!” Jellan added.
“Second, even though he could not remember certain things, he would be able to recall them if he was given enough time. Just like what happened to me. I also think that he would still recognize all of you, but if he could not, then you could just introduce yourself again to him.”
“Last, Nile is undergoing his evolution to become a Level Three human right now. I don’t know what needs to be done but he told me that I should protect him during this time. Other than that, he did not leave any instructions. I’m only a Level Two human right now so I don’t know what will happen to him, so it’s best that we won’t interrupt him during this time. And this is my warning, I won’t tolerate any of you prematurely waking him up.”
“Etched this deeply in your mind. We are in a zombie apocalypse, I have already killed countless zombies, childrens included, and even those who are yet to become zombies, I already killed countless. I’m already past the point where I will take pity on humans, childrens even, I can kill without guilt, so it’s best that not one of you here will try their luck with me!”
“Are we clear?” Jellan said while glaring at the others fiercely. Although she exaggerated it a little bit, it was true that she would no longer bat an eye if she killed a fellow human. She already got rid of that trait the moment she became the leader of the Blue Wave Faction.
The others nervously nodded their heads as they listened to her words full of threats. Of course, they were already aware of what kind of world they are living in now. Although the others saw them only as spoiled childrens, the truth was actually far from that. They were orphaned childrens so they are very aware of the cruel world they were living in. They thought that the apocalypse was just an upgrading version of that world they grew up with. Nothing new about it, except for the zombies and other creatures of course.
“Good! Now go and get those foods that Istan dropped earlier and fill your stomachs!” Jellan said before she turned around to return to Nile’s side.
By the mention of food, the childrens eyes instantly lit up as if they’ve seen an oasis in the middle of a desert. They all turned their heads towards Istan waiting for his explanation about that food that Jellan was talking about.
“F-follow me!” Istan stuttered with his reply as he felt nervous about the stares the others were giving to him.
‘God! I’m the hybrid here alright? Why do you guys look at me as if I’m the food or something?’
He no longer wasted any more time as he stood up to lead the others to where he dropped those foods he brought earlier. He imagined that if he wasted time any longer, the others would really take a bite on his bluish skin.
The moment they saw the food scattered on the floor, they immediately pounced on it as if a leopard pouncing on a deer. As Nalyn was not in the right state to grab a food for her own, Istan did her a favor by taking a fist sized papaya before giving it to her.
Nalyn smiled before she gobbled that papaya after tearing it in half. They no longer cared about their appearance as they gobbled all the food just like beggars from the street before the apocalypse started.
Jellan could only shake her head upon seeing them snatching food from the others. If she knew that they were still alive, she would have fetched them and let them stay on the Blue Wave Faction’s Base.
