- Is It Wrong To Try A New Start In Another World With A Dungeon
- Chapter 24 Ch 23
Haruhime is a stunning woman and she always wore a kimono. So, probably a katana…
No, a katana is restrictive towards her movements in a fight with more than four enemies, especially because of the length and the fact that power is not the primary stats she develops…
A dagger… it may be good. It can be used for swift attacks, but the reach…
Wait, in the Japanese culture, there aren’t dagger, because in their style they also created weapon based on the image of a katana…
Well, let’s search for the right book in the Store… Oh? This ‘History of Japanese weapons’ might be the right choice…
—————————————————————————————————————
-1 hour later-
Mhhhh… there is a great variety of weapons in the Japanese culture, and they are all interesting…
By the way, the weapon that I think is best for Haru is the kodachi.
Slashing power, piercing power, and mobility is all average. Also, it is between 30 and 60 cm, so it is really useful for her.
The process for forging is somewhat similar to one of a katana, but a bit more simple.
I decided to not use peculiar metal, and working with steel only.
By the way, I’ll use the steel brought from the shop, as a test for the materials of the shop.
An ingot of steel is not that much worth, only 100 DMP.
As my real first item forged, I’ll be super serious from now on.
The first part, heating the steel to the right temperature, easy.
and are perfect for that type of work.
Now start to hammer the ingot and forming the shape.
Mhhh, it is somewhat difficult. Each strike needs to be made with the right power, as weak strike won’t do nothing and the ones too much power might create a future unbalance in the blade…
As the work is done, the steel is cooled down, so it needs to be re-heated another time…
—————————————————————————————————————
I have the basic form of the kodachi, now I need to bend it to form the best angle of a kodachi, as it is not perfectly linear.
Like a katana, the kodachi has only one edge and I need to hammer a bit before start grinding and hand scraping a bit to form the blade itself, but a bit of that is needed also on the other side of the edge, because it may arise problems when piercing or slashing…
Now that really seems a proper kodachi of 45cm I need to use an item called that I have in my Inventory as a random item and cover the blade before heating it at 820C and cooling it in the water for 3 seconds and tempered at 200C
This part is the problematic one because if the process is made in the right way, the weapon will have increased sharpness and will be hardened, but a misstep causes the destruction of it.
Whew… now that there aren’t anymore troubling process, we only need to ground sharp the edge, remove the clay and polishing the blade with a whetstone.
After a meticulously polish, the rest is only a cosmetic polish for the handle. I can only polish a bit the handle and this might be the end, but it is best to use leather to cover it. In a pinch, there is the possibility of the sweats to make the kodachi slip from the hand, so a steady grip might be the deciding factor on a life and death situation.
Well, as I don’t want her to go beyond the sixth floor, there aren’t that many possibilities of happening, but I want to train a bit with my skill and make better items.
I only created weapons from monster drops, so forging one is definitely different, and I think this is the best weapon I can make for now.
As I want to make better weapons in the future, this won’t last too much for her, but I don’t wanna make my first effort pointless.
So, let’s call it
–
<effort
>
Rank: C
Skill: Sharpening(C), Hardening(C)
An item made from a novice blacksmith towards the woman that want to protect. It is actually made from a low-level material, but the ability of the smith made it surpass the normal limits.
Sharpening(C)
A lot more sharpen that you think. It can damage enemies of higher rank.
Hardening(C)
A lot harder than you think. It won’t be scratched from low-rank enemies and it is more resistant towards higher rank enemies.
–
Wow, that is really good.
Steel is a low-level material, but the process is what made this item so special.
Japanese smiths are a lot more expert that I could think, they really deserve praise for that.
By the way, all of this took four hours, but Haru and Shiva aren’t home yet.
I think is time for a bit of sightseeing of the city…
And now that I have time, go toward the place that I really want to see for myself.
To the Hostess of Fertility!
