I’ve Been Reincarnated as a Villainess’ Older Brother - CH 78
Chapter 78 – No matter how much you think about it there are some things you should not say
Cain as a brother loved Dianna. Father Dismiya returned and before dinner, he called Cain to his office.
He knocked and the butler opened the door for him. As he walked into the office, he noticed his father wasn’t at his desk but was sitting on the sofa. The butler motioned for him to sit on the couch facing him. Cain sat down as he was told and looked at his father.
“Cain…”
“This is the country of aristocratic academy of Siriyum’s school uniform. What is the meaning of this?”
Before his father could open his mouth Cain threw the question at him. It was not like an aristocrat to act in that way and interrupt an elder, but he purposefully did it to show his anger.
Dismiya sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose with his right hand, then he folded his hands on his knees and looked at Cain with gentle eyes.
“Cain you are very brilliant. We heard from your teachers that you are already studying at the same level as the sixth years in school. If that is the case, then studying at a local school wouldn’t make much sense. So, we decided to have you study abroad.”
“Going to an academy is not just about studying. Isn’t it important to make future connections with the aristocrats in my country that are my own age?”
“You are very brilliant, and you learned the language of the other country well. You are the future head of household, and I would like you to make connections with the aristocrats of other countries. Nerugrandi and Siriyum are neighboring lands. It would be very useful to have this experience while you are a student.”
“What if I enroll in the De Magic Academy then in the middle of my first year I go study abroad? That should be okay if it is an exchange program.”
It didn’t really make sense to force me to study abroad just based on my ability to study, Cain thought.
Dismiya himself said Cain had already studied up to the sixth grade.
Cain looked Dismiya right in the eyes. Without expression, he quietly waited for his father to speak. He said, “…it is to separate you and Dianna.”
“I don’t understand why I have to be separated from Dianna.”
“You don’t understand?” Dismiya said as he glared pointedly at Cain.
“You brought Dianna each time you went to the tea party with the young woman.”
“Were they preliminary match-making tea parties?”
Soon after Cain and Dianna have started acting like real nobles, there had often been tea parties hosted in the duke’s garden.
Even though it was a tea party only one aristocratic lady was invited. It wasn’t exactly match-making but it was obvious that they wanted them to meet face to face to assess compatibility.[Read this novel and other amazing translated novels from the original source at the “Novel Multiverse dot com” website @ novelmultiverse.com]
Cain had gone with Dianna every time there was a tea party.
“Every time you went with Dianna you would only compliment her and the ladies went home upset because of it.”
“If they were preliminary matches for my future partner then it was only natural for me to take Dianna.”
“It is not natural. The point of the tea party was to get the two of you acquainted. Dianna was the third wheel.”
“It seems you have forgotten father. My ideal partner is someone who will love Dianna and won’t be jealous of my love for Dianna. That is what I said before. It is impossible without Dianna.”
“Let’s say for argument’s sake that it’s okay for Dianna to accompany you. Why don’t you just talk to her about Dianna at the tea party without her being present? It won’t work otherwise, and it isn’t good form for a gentleman.”
“Excuse me. I talked to the lady when she spoke to me. It wasn’t like I was ignoring her.”
“I heard it was boring. I received a lot of complaints from the parents.”
“If they are telling a story that doesn’t involve Dianna of course it is boring. If they would praise Dianna’s hairstyle or compliment her hair accessories, then I would be happy to participate in the conversation.”
“That is the problem! You have to praise the lady first, Cain.”
“With Dianna sitting next to me?”
Cain tilted his head with a dubious grin. How could he compliment a lady who was inferior to Dianna while she was sitting right next to me, Cain said.
“I am happy when I am complimenting Dianna and talking to her. When Dianna and I were having a conversation about small birds they could have said, “I like little birds. What kind of small birds do you like?” or when talking about the origin of a flower, “I have a favorite flower, but it is too difficult to choose once you get deep into the floriography, it makes it hard to choose a favorite flower doesn’t it?” But every lady either interrupted Dianna and I’s conversation or tried to bring up an unrelated story about herself. They refused to have a conversation about something other than themselves and sulked the whole time. How can I get along deeply with someone who can’t get excited about a topic that isn’t about them?”
After hearing Cain’s words Dismiya sighed deeply and rubbed his shoulders in irritation.
“That is exactly why I am separating you from Dianna. I will not let you return until you have either found a marriage partner or graduated. This is a patriarchal order. I won’t hear anything else about it. It is only six years after all. Nothing to get upset about.”
“What do you mean it’s only six years?! Six years?! In six years, Dianna would have grown 30 centimeters and all her baby teeth would have fallen out! If I am not by her side, we can’t do exercises in my room together! Right now, she is nine years old so if I am gone for six years, I will miss Dianna’s first period! I won’t be able to see Dianna grow up into a woman! I can’t stand it! I don’t want to miss a moment of cute Dianna growing up!”
Cain was halfway to tears.
“Cain…that isn’t reasonable, and it is kind of weird…”
Cain’s passionate appeal did not change the fact that he would be studying abroad in another country.
