Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 10
Zou Shen was looking around the other swords but didn’t pick up any or use them. He tried to sense if there was any Sword Intent left in any sword here so he could study and research it for himself, one day making his own sword intent.
He could not find any sword intent on any of the swords up for sale in the shop. It seemed like they were all newly forged, he would have to find someone who used his sword for a long time and had been many battles to find any essence of sword intent.
He looking at the armour sets and the different weapons. They were all cool looking, but he was about to get something from another world that should not exist in this world. He was very excited and giddy about the future now that he could get his hands on the sword that he wanted. If not for the Katana that fit well with the fighting style and the sword style he wanted to use. He would have gone for twin broad Dao swords; it would require a change in his fighting style that the one he wanted to use. If he couldn’t get a Katana, he would have created one for himself and returned the fighting style he wanted later.
Zou Shen while looking around, felt a gust of wind from the back room where the burly man went to bring his sword. The gust of wind had some spiritual energy flowing through it.
Soon after the door opened, and the burly man returned with a sword which was wrapped in red cloth and black ribbon. He could not see the recognized shape of the Katana as it was wrapped in cloth not showing its true form.
The burly man said in a booming voice while looking at Zou Shen, “Come with me to the buildings backyard.”
He then turned around and walked through the other door behind the desk. Zou Shen followed suit and walked through the door and entered a hallway with a door at the end of it.
Both Zou Shen and the burly man walked into the backyard of the shop. It was quite open space with many trees and a pond in the middle. It was like a mini forest here. They walked for a while through the path in the backyard and then they arrived at the front of the pond
The burly man stopped there as he looked at the pond and the scenery before him. He then turned towards Zou Shen who was standing behind him calmly. He handed him the sword slowly like it was a very precious treasure that would break if it fell to the ground.
Zou Shen bowed while receiving the sword, as soon as his hand touched the cloth his whole physical body felt jolted like a heavenly thunder had struck him.
“As the deal is here is the sword according the design you gave me. I will keep the sword design while you get the sword.” The burly man said in a normal voice this time.
“You will still have to show me how you will use the sword right now before you leave.” After staying quite a while he then continued, “This I beg of you for the sake of my family’s ancestor.”
Zou Shen just nodded his head in agreement at the request. He placed the sword in the on the ground and sat down on the ground in a kneeling position. His body posture was firm. He picked up the sword from his side and gently placed it in front of him horizontally.
He then bowed to the sword deeply like he was worshiping the sword. This moment all looked otherworldly to Ren Song who was watching from a distance. People usually would just use swords to kill rarely giving it respect, they would think the sword and the user of the sword were one and the same. The sword was not looked at someone superior to them with respect. Bowing towards a sword like this people would mock the person, thinking of him as a below a sword. Thinking yourself below a tool of killing.
Zou Shen never thought of it that way as he knew if this sword had a spiritual form it would be mirroring his actions by kneeling while sitting in a firm position like a mirror of him and bowing the same way as he was currently doing towards the sword. To him it was worthy to give weapons and armours respect, even if they were made by people to just kill. The same killing tools could be used to serve justice and help the people of the world, even if it was through the method of killing.
That was worthy of respect same as it was given to a hero or person you look up too. If you show respect to the weapon it will respect you in turn. In the world of cultivation where sword users would try to kill plenty with their swords to get the sword intent. A simple form of bond or relationship with the sword was enough to achieve the same result. The only difference was you had to respect the sword also, it would open a means of communication between the user and the sword. Instead of talking to air and hoping the sword intent would form after some time, this is what separates a true sword master from the rest common sword users. A sword loves his sword and doesn’t need to wait for the sword intent to form. Some sword masters were child geniuses because when they formed the sword intent their connection with the sword was real and they grew up with it by their side.
Zou Shen had to respect the sword as it had been much alive much longer in this world than him, it was his senior, elder and teacher. The sword had to respect him because Zou Shen was the same as him, the sword built to kill, and Zou would be a tool for the sword to fulfil its purpose growing stronger together. The sword would reach new heights as the owner did. If it respected its owner, the communication would be stronger and their strength greater as a result.
The sword intent showed the owners reflection of his true self to the world. The owner emotions, desires, goals and knowledge and experience form the sword intent. When the owner died so did the sword intent, some would manifest as they would carry out of the will of their original owners. They are called sword demons as they consume more will of their current owners to fulfill the will of their original owner or creator.
Zou Shen thought that all swords were sword demons, their purpose was to kill, and the sword intent people formed were the true will of their owners. Some will be not strong enough or the connection not strong enough between the sword and the user that it would fade out in time. Some will be stronger and survive the annihilation and had the strength to continue the original users will.
They were tied to their users will and life, the user would create the sword demon after his death, or he would not create one. The sword had no choice in the matter as it would fulfil its purpose no matter what, even fighting its own fate to become a sword demon.
No matter what you had to respect the weapon you use as it will respect you too, it will respect your strength whether you are weak or strong. If you are stronger than the sword it will try to imitate your strength to help you increase in power. If you are weak it will stand by your side and help you reach new heights never leaving you behind by yourself.
Zou Shen closed his eyes and he felt like someone had kissed him on his cheeks, the lips felt cold, deathly cold. He soon realized it was the kiss of death. Now he knew what this Katana was, it was the embodiment of Death.
The winds stopped moving as the temperature suddenly dropped to freezing levels, even the coldest place in this world would feel warm now compared to the current situation in this backyard.
Zou moved his hands while his eyes were closed, to him felt she was guiding him to open the binds on the sword and wield it properly and show the world it’s true power.
He opened the ribbon which wrapped around the sword and wrapped it from his palm and onto his hands. The ribbon was bound to him now he could control as saw fit, the black ribbon felt like it was heavenly chains made manifest in this world used to bind the sword in chains. Soon after a whirlpool opened in the sky as it looked like a portal to the heavens, a form of spiritual soon speed towards
Zou Shen who had eyes closed and the chains entered the black ribbon worn on his left hand.
After a while the whirlpool in the sky closed itself only leaving the heavenly chains in the long black ribbon which was wrapped around his left hand. The red cloth which covered the sword disappeared. The black ribbon then disappeared inside Zou Shen body. The Katana looked simply average, the Saya(sheathe) was simple looking and the Tsuka (hilt) was also simple in its look and design. The Tsuba (hand guard) was also very simple in its round shape.
“Shi Jian, Rise” Zou said called out to the sword.
The sword rose from the ground in which Zou Shen had laid it. The sword flew in the air, releasing death Qi all around. It flew towards the middle of the pond and hovered there freezing the pond to the very depth in an instant. The trees froze in the backyard, the grass also froze the very instant. The ground turned to ice as it was embraced by death as she asked the ground to change in an instant.
The backyard turned into a picture of frozen hell where even souls would freeze and never enter the flow of rebirth as their souls would remain eternal in the cold embrace of death. Only Zou was unaffected as he sat in the same firm position as the start of it all not opening his eyes. Ren Song used his cultivation strength to hover in the air above to the side as only the backyard was affected nothing else was touched as it was willed by Zou Shen.
Ren Song felt scared like never, he was a hidden Immortal Realm cultivator who rarely showed himself in the world. Even the sect leaders of the top sects in this continent would have to give him some respect. He was also one of the reasons no one dared to scheme or challenge against Iron Mountain empire.
Still he felt scared like a child as he could feel the death Qi even from a safe distance. It was like death was looking at him smiling, calling him to hear her sweet lullaby. He felt safe only because Zou Shen was controlling the area in which the swords power was released if he wanted this sword would annihilate this whole content, removing it from existence with every man, woman and child. Even beasts and demons who were hidden in this continent would not be spared by her sweet embrace.
He felt like with this sword if they could control it then they would rule over the whole world, but if the sword not respected and it became displeased it would destroy them along with Iron Mountain empire.
With his eyes closed Zou Shen rose his position and stood straight. He stretched his left outwards in the direction of the sword and asked, “Do you want take this journey together with me?”
He then heard a sweet and cold voice even more melodious than Xiaoshan answer back to him, “Yes my Master. I will follow you forever, we will live free and strong eternally.”
The sword disappeared from the middle of the pond and appeared on Zou Shen right hand. He took the hilt of the Katana with his right hand and slowly slid it out and the speed of the draw increased as after a while it was instantly fully out of the sheathe as the blade showed its simple beauty being full and pure black, even light and colour of the world did not touch it. His right hand was stretched out straight like a robot with no mechanical imperfections in his coding. He then titled the blade horizontally with his hand, the sharp edge of the blade pointing right.
After a few seconds the whole world returned to the quiet dawn it was going to be after all the time he had spent running around in the Vivid Stone city from the evening till now.
He then swung the sword to the right and stopped only when the sword pointed to the doorway behind far away making a perfect 180-degree angle from the front to the back. In an instant half of backyard turned to dust and disappeared into the ground. The grass, the trees and even the water in the bond disappeared as if they had never existed in this world in the first place.
Zou Shen smiled and was pleased as he slowly rotated the sword and bought the tip of the sword near the mouth of the sheathe, sliding the blade in slowly until the guard contacted the mouth of the sheathe making a melodious click sound.
The whole world returned to life in an instant as if nothing extraordinary had happened in this backyard. The evidence was still there, the right side of the backyard above was erased from existence. The attack was done quickly in an instant even though the lead up to it was long.
Death comes quick and painless as they say. This time she was merciful to nature as her master ordered her to release her power in a certain amount of area and height.
Zou Shen was very pleased; he was finally ready to take a very big step into the world cultivation soon.
