Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 15
Zou stood in front of the crying little girl, knelt and patted her head slowly to comfort her. He used the wind Qi in the area to create a gentle breeze which moved towards her to help her calm down.
After a while the girl finally calmed down and looked up at the person who helped her. He was an average looking young man who was wearing beautiful weird clothes that she had never seen before. Her father reminded her long ago to never trust weird men as they would want to harm.
She pushed her body back in fear thinking about what her father had warned her about.
‘This brat, I am not a lolicon, stop judging me as one. Come to save someone and they fear you instead of being grateful. Doesn’t matter her parents much have warned her about weird looking people.’ He looked at himself through his senses, ‘Do I look weird and creepy?’
The little girl looked more at Zou Shen to realize he was not a weird person, but he was just dressed different from others. The clothes he wore looked beautiful to her and he gave of an aura of a calm wind moving in the sky.
“I am not a weird person; I only came to help you after hearing your crying from all the way up there on the mountain range path.” He pointed towards the top of the forest slope where the path was on which people travelled on.
The little girl over came with guilt as she realized she had mistaken this person who saved her. She quickly looked around for her father, she feared for her father’s life.
She looked at Zou Shen with pleading eyes. “Senior my father is fighting a bad person down the forest near the stream of river please go and help him, I don’t think he cannot win against the bad person.” The little girl asked Zou for help in a worried tone.
Zou Shen looked at her large pleading eyes as he sensed some amount of Qi near the river stream down the mountain. He made a pure Qi barrier around her and then moved towards the direction of the Qi.
Soon he reached near the location where he sensed the Qi, there was a stream of river flowing and the mountain near the location of the Qi was split down from the top. It was like someone had taken the mountain and cracked it open with sheer force. There were many deep craters and deep large holes spread all around the river making the stream move around the destruction and flowing into some holes and craters creating ponds and lakes of their own.
Even his destruction of the trees when he used his Ethereal Wind Form, Storm Slice was nothing like the one he was seeing now. He looked around for a bit looking at the destruction, he soon locked on the source of the Qi.
When he reached the source of the Qi he found a two dead corpse in a very large crater on the other side of the split mountain one had turned to dust already with no Qi being left behind and the other one was slowly turning into dust with the last remnant of the person’s Qi slowly returning to the world.
He knew that this person was the father of the little girl. From the destruction in the area he guessed that both the people were at least at Ascension Realm cultivators.
The little girl father was holding on to his last remnants of life to protect his daughter still, through will power alone. Zou Shen looked at the corpse of the father and the disappearing Qi speaking to it
like it was a living person.
“Your daughter is safe and sound you can rest in peace.” Zou then bowed solemnly towards the disappearing Qi. After a while body turned to dust quickly and the final essence of the father’s Qi disappeared from the world.
Zou Shen then turned around leaving the destroyed mountain and river behind to return to the little girl.
‘The love a parent has for their child is something that always surprises me. Some things are always powerful than raw power.’
The little girl waited patiently for Zou Shen to return. When she saw that Zou Shen had come alone, she knew her father wasn’t alive in this world anymore.
Zou Shen told the girl slowly, “I am sorry your father didn’t make it. I could not save his life as the battle had long been over. He was already using will power to remain in a conscious form Qi to protect you.”
He then became quiet letting the girl come to terms with this life altering moment. Nothing he could do to comfort her in her time of grief. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com www.webnovel.com for visiting.
The little girl was staring at the distance, her eyes had no emotions right now. She could not cry in grief even if she wanted to, her tears had run dry. Her emotions and mind were in turmoil as she could not focus her emotion to bring up rage, sorrow or any emotions.
Zou Shen watched the little girl reaction curiously; this moment would decide her own strength. If she was weak, she would break down with her mind shattering. If she was strong, she would rise from this dark moment in her life to never fall again.
He bet her on being strong, he though of her as a loud cry-baby when he first saw her crying. After seeing the strong will of her father for her, he knew she would not let his sacrifice be in vain. She would not be her father’s daughter if she crumbled down now after her father showed true strength in fighting death for even seconds to protect his daughter.
He was right as the little girl was strong, she focused her emotions and rose up from the ground. She looked composed and calm now, emotionless and cold. Zou Shen didn’t mind her cold eyes as she had fought hard inside and to not shatter herself to pieces in grief and sorrow. Life changing events tend to do that people, same to him when he learnt about the news of his eminent death.
The little girl didn’t look little anymore she looked her age of 15 years old. She was still short but now she looked cold and beautiful. Looking at her Zou Shen was reminded of Xiaoshan who also looked cold towards others, he realized that this girl would grow up to be a beauty rivalling Xiaoshan at some point.
When he came here, she crying by hiding her face with her hands sitting down in the ground, the tears hid her beauty. Now her beauty was in full force with the cold look.
‘What is with cold looking beauties and me. When will I get to meet a lively one full of vibrance and vitality sometime? Something is wrong with her, from my guess is she is special in some way. She can’t be this beautiful just by being an Ascension Realm cultivator’s daughter.’ He was very surprised by her beauty and cautious of it also.
He used his spiritual sense to check her body, looking at her he found out she had a beast core. It shocked him when he discovered this out, as his knowledge was that only beasts were born with beast cores. Humans created human cores in the Core Realm, if she was a child of a beast and human then both her parents were at the Ascension Realm as only beasts who were in the Ascension realm could transform into humans.
He was now very interested in this girl, especially which type of beast her mother was not every type of beast could create such a beautiful child.
“Which beast clan was your mother from, did your father ever tell you about your mother?” He looked at the girl who looked at him with her cold emotionless eyes. He did not beat around the bush and straight asked about her mother.
The girl didn’t think too much about his question and after remembering what her father told her about her mother once when she was just a child.
“My father once told me that my mother was from the Spirit Fox beast clan. My mother and father met each other during a small skirmish and fell in love with each other at first sight. They secretly met each other afterwards from time to time. Finally marrying and giving birth to me later down the years. After giving birth my mother suddenly disappeared and my father ever since searched for her everywhere.” She told Zou Shen everything she knew about her mother as she had not seen her mother even once in her life only hearing about her from her father’s stories.
‘Spirit Fox clan huh, no wonder she turned out to be such a beauty at such a young age. Also this typical romantic background of her parents. Two people who should not fall in love, fall in love with each other at first sight. Secretly meet each other and give birth to a special kid. Their life ends in tragedy and the child grows up to take revenge for them.’ After hearing her Zou Shen thought like this about her parent’s life and her future.
‘She and her father must be from a big clan as she is dressed in beautiful and expensive Daoist robes. Someone must have had ill intentions against her and her father resulting in a chase from the clan members which ended up with them being caught and her father holding of the pursuer so she could escape. Looks like Spirit Fox clan is strong and powerful with hidden mysteries. No wonder this girl is unique, and some clan members wanted to capture her because she held secrets like forming a beast core in a human cultivator.’ Zou Shen looked towards the girl in pity.
“What cultivation realm are you in right now?” He asked the girl as she looked strong now to him that she could defend herself.
“I am in Core Realm 1st step.” The girl answered quickly as it was a simple question.
Zou Shen nearly chocked on his Infused Qi when he heard her answer, ‘Then why did you need to me to come help you and why were you crying. You could have killed the demonic beast by yourself.
Also Core Realm at the age of 15, Why does this world always slap me in my face like this. What cultivation realm am I at anyway?’
Zou Shen flicked his finger on her forehead sending Infused Qi into her to check on her condition fully. It looked like her meridians were damaged badly; she would need time to recover to her strength fully.
The girl sensed that there was an unknown Qi entering her body through her forehead after Zou Shen flicked his finger on her forehead. She felt that her meridians which were damaged during the chase and escape, started to heal slowly. She felt pressure descend on her, but it didn’t hurt it just felt heavy to her body. She could move her body now, but she couldn’t use her strength right now due to the damaged meridians.
Zou Shen had made the Pure Qi which could heal him be increased in the Infused Qi he gave the girl to heal. He also wanted to see if he could heal others as it healed him and how good it’s result would be. The results looked average to him, it seemed to be slow on other others than when he used it on himself.
‘Maybe it is the rate of compatibility or something else that does not let the speed increase when used on others. I will need to think on this later for future use.’
The girl’s cold eye and face showed emotion of gratitude towards when she looked at him. She had studied about how hard it was to heal damaged meridians, she reckoned it would take her grand master realm alchemy recovery pills to heal her meridians. It would cost her a lot as she could not depend on anyone anymore. She was given a chance at recovery by a weird dressed stranger she had met while crying for help. She could not help but regain some of her emotions in her cold eyes when looking at Zou Shen gratefully.
Zou Shen noticed the change of emotions in her cold beautiful face. He approved of this change as he didn’t want to deal with a cold faced beauty.
“My name is Zou Shen, what is your name?” He stated his name and asked for hers.
“I am Jiang Xinling, I don’t know how I can ever repay you for the help you have given me.” She respectfully greeted Zou Shen telling him her name.
