Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 17
Zou Shen looked at the massive red entrance gate of the Feathers Peak City. After months of travel and trying to risk his life away he had finally reached the Grand Feathers Peak city. He had made it on time for the selection tournament.
‘Are they compensating for something, the Feathers Peak mountain is already imposing that you don’t need to build such an imposing entrance gate.’ He could not help but think of this when looking at the entrance gate of this city.
Zou Shen looked back Xinling who was following him quietly ever since he gave her the direction for her future. He noticed how when they were walking towards this city every passer by was looking at her. They looked surprised and looked again to double check what they saw was right. They had not known such a beautiful girl existed in this region. They only knew of Luo Xiaoshan and other beauties in the continent.
He walked to Xinling who was quietly deep in thought and was looking at the ground. He had to use the wind Qi to guide her behind him so that she didn’t bump into others. Now they were at the entrance this girl needed to pull out of her trance.
He flicked a finger on her forehead, making pain into her mind. She touched her forehead to rub off the pain she felt as she woke up from her deep trance.
“Don’t get lost in deep thoughts right now, I gave you a direction to ease your mind not to make you think more about what will happen in the future. We have reached the entrance of Feathers Peak city. Wake up and look forward, try not bump into people.” Zou Shen looked at her smiling in amusement.
He had some moments where he wanted step aside and see her crash onto someone. Sadly people were moving aside to make way for this beauty who was lost in thought.
Xinling looked at the imposing entrance gate of the Feathers Peak city but it was not impressive to her when she remembered the pressure brought on her by the pure Qi released by Zou Shen. It was for a moment only, but she clearly felt the powerful pressure brought upon her at that moment. She could not move at all it was like heavenly chains were binding her down. It had truly scared her to death, she never wanted to feel like that again. Still she wanted to know how Zou Shen gained such great power.
Zou Shen didn’t know she was thinking about the heavenly chains power showed itself to the world at that moment when he released the pressure on his pure Qi. He was letting pure Qi bond with the chains to strength it more and gain full control of it before he decided to use it in battle.
Shi Jian inside of him looked over the chains in her own realm. It felt like she had her own vendetta against these heavenly chains and its owner. He didn’t know much about such a being. He was still walking among mortals he didn’t dare with entities like the one who owned these heavenly chains or why they bound Shi Jian with it.
From what he saw Shi Jian could easily break through the chains she just not to do so. Also the heavenly chains were his now. After the pure Qi bonded with the heavenly chains, he would infuse the chains with the black long ribbon creating something that could not be broken free from no matter what, he remembered the tale of Fenrir from his past life how he was tricked and bound with Gleipnir till the time of Ragnarök.
He found the thought of such a powerful magical treasure very intoxicating. He was grinning like madman inside his mind.
Zou Shen soon calmed his emotions and cleared his mind from the intoxicating excitement. He walked into the city with Xinling walking behind him, this time him not needing to look after her wellbeing.
He went to ask a guard near the corner of the entrance if there was Ren Clan blacksmith shop in this city. The guard answered there was one shop of the Ren Clan in the city, but it was opened only a few days ago. The various powers in the Heavenly Green region immediately took notice of this shop popping up in the Feathers Peak city.
It was shocking as the Ren Clan had stopped expanding their business for two decades now, many high powers knew of the reason why. It meant that something had changed in the situation of the Iron Mountain Empire for the Ren Clan to move again in this world after two decades. Soon the higher powers found out that even the people of the Iron Mountain Empire didn’t know why Ren Clan started moving again while the Empire was on the brink of a civil war. The whole continent was confused and scared at what made this silent Dragon make a move in this world.
The higher powers were scared not because of the Ren Clan making a move but because of the person who took charge in this sudden change. The old monster of the Ren Clan had come out of his hiding. The Immortal Ren Song had personally taken charge of the clan this time, with the help of his son who nearly dangerous as his father.
It was clear that Iron Mountain Empire would soon bathe itself blood as Ren Clan would enter the battlefield for the throne of Iron Mountain Empire, the people of the Iron Mountain Empire cheered when this news spread throughout the continent.
When Zou Shen heard of the details from the gossiping soldier, he could only curse himself for telling where he would be going to before leaving Vivid Stone City. He could not help but facepalm at the storm Ren Song had created in the continent with building a single shop. He just hoped that he would remember his order of not putting the empire in peril during the cleaning.
Zou Shen walked towards the newly built Ren Clan shop. Xinling quietly walked behind Zou Shen as usual, she had also heard of the great Ren Clan even in her Jiang Clan. Even the Jiang Clan owed some debt to the Ren Clan smiths. She was also shocked by the news of an Immortal Realm cultivator taking action in the continent. She had only heard of Immortal Realm cultivators in stories and legends now a living legend had made move in the cultivation world. Everyone could not help but be shocked when they heard of this news.
After a hour of travelling through the city streets they finally reached the shop, it was a huge building with three floors in the middle of rich and expensive plots of lands of Feathers Peak City.
‘Is this a shop looks like a high-class inn for rich people. I hardly see anyone here,’ Zou Shen thought as he entered the building with Xinling.
Soon the giant doors of the entrance shut itself. Zou didn’t care as he knew it was done for privacy. He looked ahead to see a handsome looking middle-aged man walk down the wide stairs leading the next floor. After seeing other beautiful people Zou Shen was used to good-looking people, he believed that world was trying to always remind of his average looks to laugh at him.
“I welcome Lord Shen to our humble shop, I am Ren Ruozhen fifth elder of the Ren Clan. I was given the order to take care of your needs during your stay in Feathers Peak City. If you need something done, please request my aid.” The handsome middle-aged man smiled charmingly as he greeted Zou Shen and Xinling.
Zou Shen looking at Ruozhen felt like that charming smile could make wives kill their own husbands just to be with him for a single day. He remembered he had also heard that Red Rain empire’s prince Zhou Hanrong was also extremely handsome.
This world really liked to rub it in his face, many of the people met were good looking. He also had Xinling standing behind him who was beauty too who would grow up to rival Xiaoshan in terms of looks.
Zou Shen smiled back and greeted Ruozhen back, “I humbly greet the fifth elder of the Ren Clan, I am Zou Shen, and this is Jiang Xinling who is currently under my care. Please register her name and mine for the Red Rain selection tournament happening tomorrow.”
Ruozhen was embarrassed and impressed by the humble greeting of Zou Shen who was the guardian of the Iron Mountain empire. His status and power were high above his so Zou Shen could easily be arrogant and demanding in his greeting and request. Still he lowered his head and addressed him with his title properly. Now he knew why Lord Ren Song returned very happily with the news about the Guardian of Iron Mountain empire being finally found by their Ren Clan. “Please Lord Shen no need to greet me like that, I am just a servant now sent to serve your needs. Our Ren Clan will be your backer in this selection tournament.” Ruozhen assured Zou Shen his request will be fulfilled properly.
Xinling was silent in the back she was very shocked right now, she could sense the aura coming from Ruozhen, he stronger than her own father and other Ascension Realm cultivators of Jiang Clan. He was truly the fifth elder of the Ren Clan as he stated, but right now he was just a servant to Zou Shen. If she told it to the world, they would laugh at her, thinking it was impossible. Zou Shen himself had told her that he was from a poor family of mortals. So this revelation of him being a Lord of the Ren Clan was truly shocking, the title was given to founders and or leaders of the sects and clans, also Immortal Realm cultivators were given the title.
Zou Shen noticed Xinling silent shock, he turned towards her and warned her. “Don’t tell anyone about whatever will be talked about and revealed to you here. If you do leak this secret, then Ren clan Lord Ren Song will hunt you down personally.” Zou was trying to scare her into keeping this secret, but he also wanted to really scare her for fun.
Xinling just nodded in agreement, she remained silent as she still could not speak up to greet or say anything due to shock. She knew that Ren Clan would not let her go if she leaked this information to the world outside. She could feel the pressure given off by Ruozhen to show that what Zou Shen said was true.
Zou didn’t stop Ruozhen from putting pressure on her, as she would get used to such spiritual pressure soon helping her in cultivation. He knew she would not speak of it anyway as she owed him for rescuing and helping her in the mountain range.
“If you want to visit the city on your own, then you can leave and return later. If you don’t want to participate in the selection tournament tell us right now.” Zou continued to ask her.
Xinling looked at Zou Shen and Ruozhen, she thought for a while about the direction Zou Shen had given her for a long time. She now had come to final decision to follow Zou Shen given direction. It was not like she could think for herself, but she also wanted to find her mother and take revenge for her father’s death. Zou direction for her life gave her a clear path connecting both in one road for her to walk forward on.
“I will take part in the selection tournament and never leak anything that I have heard but I want to stay with senior Shen while in the city.” She gave a clear answer to Zou Shen and Ruozhen.
She would need to fight and find her position in the world now. See how much steps she had to climb on before she fulfilled her goals. Without her own strength, finding her mother and taking revenge for her father was impossible.
She was now looked at Zou Shen with reverence who had shown her a clear path forward, helping her from her darkest moment in life till now. To her she would have to do very dire deeds to gain power and strength or heal her damaged self. The help and guidance she got from Zou Shen gave her an option with which she did not need to go down that path.
Her cold beautiful face was just not for show. She was willing to sell her body and give her soul to stronger powers to gain strength and power to take revenge. She had been willing to do anything to get her revenge, until she was given a way to gain strength on her own and find her mother also. Who might be the only living person she could be close with now?
Xinling was eternally grateful and loyal to Zou Shen no matter what happened. Zou Shen was oblivious to this change in her.
