Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 18
Zou Shen heard her answer and nodded in delight, she would find her mother and through her Spirit Fox beast clan. If she took a different path, he would just try to use the powers of Ren clan to find the location of Spirit Fox clan.
It would take quite a long time to find the beast clan through that way. Finding Xinling would also take time, but the outcome to find Spirit Fox beast clan would be easy and direct. Only one person was needed for this and not an entire clan. If Xinling was going to take revenge, he might as well help her and gain something beneficial out of it.
Ruozhen then took him and Xinling to a meeting room upstairs for further talks. As soon as they left
the hall and moved up to the next floor servants rushed in again to work in the building. It was like
Ren Song had given strict orders for anyone else than elders and him to know about the identity of Zou Shen.
Zou Shen sat down on very comfortable sofas and closed his eyes in relief. He had not rested like this in a very long time. It was months of nonstop travelling and running around to make up for lost time.
He decided he needed to get massaged occasionally. He wondered if there were any massage parlours in this world, surely the red-light districts had something that offered this service.
He put all those superfluous matters aside for now and focused on why he had come to this shop.
He looked towards Ruozhen who was sitting opposite to him behind a large desk, Xinling was sitting next to him quietly.
He took a sip of the refreshing herbal tea provided by Ruozhen and then spoke about what he had come to this shop for.
“I want to know about the current situation of Iron Mountain Empire. How the Ren Clan is dealing with and much progress has been made.” He asked Ruozhen with a clam look.
“Lord Shen the Iron Mountain Empire as you might have heard is on the brink of a civil war. The previous emperor died early in the reign, leaving an empty throne. Even though you can rule over us all in the empire, but you rejected that power. With our Ren Clan finally making a move with Lord Ren Song as he took the charge in this matter.
Lord Ren Xuesi has given his position of the current leader of Ren Clan back to his father Lord Ren Song. The many greedy royalist powers have started to abuse their powers openly now. They have realized that they need to make an alliance to deal with our Ren Clan, so that can carry on their pillage of our great empire and its people.” Ruozhen had a hint of anger when he mentioned the royalist powers.
‘No wonder Ren Song was so agreeing to me becoming the Guardian even when I am not that powerful to guard much.’
Zou Shen now realized how dire this situation was, he listened more before thinking about this matter clearly. He had guessing something had happened in the empire before to make the Ren clan be desperate to search for the Guardian as ordered to them personally by their empire’s founder Iron Emperor.
“Our progress has been slowed down; they have started to use royal authority to denounce the actions of our clan. They have started to attack us in open and in secret. Lord Ren Song can deal with any open fights, but he cannot do much in the matter of secret attacks thrown towards our clan. We had been foolishly quiet ever since the start. Now our enemies have deeply engrained themselves right under our watchful eye.”
Ruozhen slowed with his words as she realized how foolish they had truly been, if they had solved the matter from the start and not sat on their asses in idle. Their empire would not be in such a dire strait now.
Zou Shen had finally heard enough to know what to do. If this situation and the enemy abused their powers like a cornered rat. He knew the other higher powers in the continent were waiting to show their allegiance to the royalist and crush the Ren Clan. They owed too much to Ren Clan and Ren Clan was the gatekeeper for Iron Mountain Empire. It would be in their best interest to wipe out this debt collector and gatekeeper.
“Ruozhen as a person of the Ren Clan and a citizen of the Iron Mountain Empire. How do you feel right now?” He asked calmly to Ruozhen.
Ruozhen was surprised as he didn’t think that Zou Shen would ask how he personally felt about this matter this as a citizen of the Iron Mountain and member of the Ren Clan. Ruozhen deeply thought about how he truly felt and what his reply would be. “Lord Shen, I feel anger at myself and our whole clan feels we have failed our ancestors and the people of the empire. The people of the plead to us for help long ago and we were deaf to their pleas, only now we are acting when it feels too late.
We thought the matter would solve itself in time and that all would return to normal. We underestimated the power of greed in people, now we are paying the price dearly watching our own empire be torn in pieces. I feel ashamed and angry, all our strength and power doesn’t matter when we cannot protect our own empire from the greedy claws that tear her apart.” Ruozhen face turned to despair and anger as he told his deep feelings out loud.
Ruozhen lost his composure for a moment and his pressure released itself, the whole building, with the servants and the people outside in that part of the Feathers Peak City all felt that pressure of rage. Ruozhen realized what he had done and calmed himself down apologizing to Zou Shen.
“No need to apologize I asked the question for your honest feelings.” Zou then turned towards
Xinling who also felt the pressure the most, he could see she was able to withstand the pressure up close to a certain amount. She was learning to deal with spiritual pressure it would certainly help her in the future if she didn’t lose herself when facing a strong pressure from a powerful opponent.
He turned back to Ruozhen who was still feeling guilty about loosing his composure and releasing his powerful pressure being released upon the world. He was an elder of the Ren Clan, he should not make such childish mistakes.
Zou Shen then turned towards as he spoke to Ruozhen about what he was going to do about this matter as the guardian of the Iron Mountain Empire.
“Ruozhen listen to my words carefully and pass it to the whole Ren Clan. Xinling you will not speak a word about what I will say next to anyone even if you are facing death.” He clearly said his words.
Ruozhen turned serious and payed careful attention to what Zou would say next. Xinling also nodded in agreement she was already loyal to him.
“As the Guardian of the Iron Mountain Empire listen to my decree. Exterminate anyone who stands in your way, every man, woman and child of the enemy is to be eradicated. Erase their existence and wipe out their history from the face of the Empire.
Find out who killed the previous empire, the power behind that person and their leader. Impale your enemies alive in the capital city and hang their corpses from trees throughout the whole empire. I want everyone in this world to see what will happen to them if they look in the direction of Iron Mountain Empire with malicious intent.
Ren Song son Ren Xuesi will take the emperors throne and the Ren clan will become the new royal family of the Iron Mountain Empire. Your clan lineage will rule the empire from now till the end of time.
Your royal family will serve the empire and its people till the end of time. The royalists who greed over the throne are to treated as invaders, doesn’t matter if they form alliance together and get help from higher powers. Your Ren Clan will exterminate every single one of them without any mercy or a chance to surrender.
Your clan will be looked as Demons for what you will do but the Ren clan will complete this ordeal fully or be exiled from the empire as punishment for failing to carry out the decree of the Guardian. Your clan will serve to death during this time no room for disobedience.”
He looked straight at Ruozhen as told him decree which needed to be carried out no matter what.
After a while he closed his eyes in meditation and got up from his chair to walk out of the room. He left Xinling and Ruozhen to digest whatever he had said.
Ruozhen was silent as he clearly heard every single word of the decree by the Guardian of the Iron Mountain Empire. They would be looked down upon by the rest of the continent for they would do but this would also be their chance to serve their empire and redeem themselves for their failure.
Xinling was feared Zou Shen as she heard the words of his decree. He had ordered the genocide of the royalists of the Iron Mountain Empire. She saw him speak the decree calmly like it meant nothing to him. His true position was also revealed as he could easily change the royal lineage of the great Iron Mountain Empire and order the Ren Clan to go on a rampage.
The two were left in the room as silence prevailed. Ruozhen got up with his eyes clear as he knew what had to be done. He went after Zou Shen who had left long ago.
Xinling was left alone in the room with her own thoughts about the matter. She knew this was also a learning experience for her, if she could learn something that was all up to her.
Zou Shen came down the entrance hall and went towards the backyard to be by himself. No servant stopped him or questioned him. He reached the beautiful backyard, with ponds and a garden full of colourful flowers.
Zou Shen opened his eyes and looked at the beautiful scenery in front of him, this was a great place to meditate even though there was no benefit to cultivation as there was no Qi gathering formation here.
He stood there silently for a long while looking at the garden. Soon Ruozhen came to talk to him.
“Lord Shen I will relay your decree to Lord Ren Song and Lord Ren Xuesi to be passed to every member of the Ren Clan.” He told Zou Shen as he knelt in reverence towards the Guardian of their Iron Mountain Empire.
“Ruozhen tell Ren Song to not participate in this genocide, give the position of leader back to Ren Xuesi to carry out the decree and earn the throne for his clan and empire.” Zou Shen spoke as he was calmly looking at beautiful garden before him.
“Tell him to get ready to meet some of his old Immortal Realm friends, he will be fighting alone against many in this matter. If he wants to live up to his title of the Monster of Ren Clan now is the time. He will protect the Ren Clan during this time and kill any Immortal Realm cultivators that show themselves to help the invaders.”
Ruozhen understood the motive behind this action, soon they will go to war no matter how much they had tried to avoid it, and many would see this as a chance to attack the Ren Clan openly.
“Use every resource you have to strengthen the younger generation of the clan. After this war open a sect to teach the people of the empire about cultivation. Make each everyone of them into a fighter. I want a farmer to fight a cultivator while also being able to work in the fields.
Your Ren clan is meant to serve the people, help them stand on their own feet so you don’t have to burden yourself. They will also not depend on you in the future when they can fight and defend on their own. If your clan corrupts down the line the people should be able to fight off the corruption your clan brought to the empire.”
He went silent for a while speaking and then continued to end his words.
“Give some of innocent people on the enemy side to turn over one last time and surrender. Tell them they will not be given this chance ever again as they die later cursing their own stubborn choice.”
Zou Shen ended his talk with Ruozhen who immediately teleported back to the Ren Clan in the Iron Mountain Empire. Zou Shen didn’t look at him at all during this talk as he looked calmly towards the beautiful garden before him for a very long time in peace.
