Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 24
Tian Xinfan slowly walked up to the Star stone pillar, there were low whispers in the audience as some who didn’t know this person asked others about his back story.
“Is he that Tian Xinfan who became a cripple, whose fiancée left him for a core disciple of the Red Rain sect.” One cultivator in the asked his friend next to him who knew more about such things.
“Yes, he is that Tian Xinfan, I had heard recently that he has recovered his strength it looks like he is still chasing after the beauty Su Jie who left him. He is nowhere near as strong as he was back then when his name was famous, he is just a fallen dragon now. I don’t hold hope much for him.” The other cultivator replied.
Both nodded in agreement with each other, Tian Xinfan life story was something that if people knew would talk to each other about. It was a good topic for gossiping.
This was the worth of Tian Xinfan’s life now, he became a topic to gossip about, to some death would be much better alternative but that wouldn’t stop people from talking about him. The only way to clean away this disfigured image of him was to show the world his strength again, he was going to join Red Rain sect and show everyone not to look down on him ever again. He had suffered enough silently now it time to smile brightly again as he used to.
Xinfan stood in front of the pillar for a moment, an official next to the pillar was getting impatient.
“Hurry up so we can end this inner energy measuring round and give the last spot to someone. Don’t waste our time standing around like a dunce.” He told Xinfan as he was getting more irritated by looking at his pretty boy face.
He was just filled with envy like many because to many prodigies this piece of shit got to have such a good-looking face. It wasn’t worthy of him anymore, someone else who was stronger deserved to be this good looking.
Xinfan listened to the official’s words and was angered but he also tempered himself throughout these years to these insults. He built up his inner energy to the peak and burned with rage inside. The mixture of energy and rage was unstable, but he held his emotions in check and controlled it.
He then punched towards the pillar with rage causing a crack to appear around where his fist had punched the pillar. Soon the stars activated one by one, it was at a slow place, he stood there waiting to see his own result after all these years of insults and suffering.
Everyone looked in surprise as 6 stars activated, then soon 7 stars activated shocking everyone in the arena. They couldn’t react as soon the 8th star activated then lastly stopping at the 9th star.
‘I have risen once again.’ He smiled brightly as he once did when he was a famous young prodigy. His face turned alive, making him look handsome again, the bright eyes burned with fire. He then turned around and returned to his seat in the fighters seating area.
The announcer woke up from the shock quickly or he would forget to breathe properly and choke himself. “Tian Xinfan advances to the next round.”
Everyone was in the Gran Arena was shocked and surprised, everyone in the Heavenly Green region would soon be shocked also. They looked at Xinfan again who looked alive once again. He did not have that faked cold look like before but the radiated an aura of light.
Xiaoshan and Hanrong, even the rest of participants looked at Xinfan. All they could think was that another monster had appeared in this world. Xinfan now didn’t care for their stares and thoughts. He had proven his worth once again, no one would dare insult or gossip about him anymore.
His strength was the burning rage, the insults and the things he had to suffer quietly alone made him stronger than anyone could imagine. He kept it all his emotions inside of him using it to temper his cultivation.
He had recovered due to a fortunate encounter with a person, now he was back in this world of cultivation. Stronger than before and changed in mind and body, nothing would slow his rise now. He had just started, and this was the first giant step for his return.
Now he looked towards the platform to wait for the final person to measure his inner energy on the Star stone pillar, it wold be Zou Shen turn finally to go up to the platform.
In the special seating area, everyone was again in dire mood as they knew that another monster was about to join the Red Rain sect, but they were surprised to see the reaction of Elder Chun. Elder
Chun face was filled with anger, as he looked towards Xinfan confusing everyone in the special seating area.
Xieren looked at elder Chun and knew why he was reacting like this the person who Su Jie went with after leaving Xinfan in the depths of despair when he needed someone like her the most was a core disciple of the Red Rain sect. That core disciple was the elder Chun’s own son, Huo Dairou. Everyone in the Red Rain sect knew he had pulled many strings to get his own son to become his disciple. It was well known he would gift him with precious resources and manuals to cultivate with. His other disciples were weak due to the lack of care and guidance given to them.
Not even the current leader could not say anything, as the result showed by how strong Huo Dairou currently was. He was also a prized core disciple of the sect; they couldn’t say anything to him or his master his father.
Xieren own master hated both the father and son duo, she pitied the other disciples under elder Chun care who were left on their own to grow strong. Their talent and future were wasted to prop up Huo Dairou. No one could object to anything as the result was Huo Dairou was a strong prodigy now and the rest of Elder Chun disciples were weak.
Xieren knew this anger on Elder Chun face meant hard times and danger for Tian Xinfan as he would use everything in his power to make life a living hell for him in the Red Rain sect.
She had decided that she couldn’t let a prodigy like Xinfan worry about watching his back when in the sect. He would be a leader in the future of this era so making angry towards their own sect would be stupid. It looked like Elder Chun couldn’t see that as he was blinded by rage and paranoia.
Elder Chun calmed down soon and composed himself again as he could not let others see his true self here in public. He still thought about how he would try to stop Xinfan from every achieving anything his life.
He was also angry at that worthless girl Su Jie who just clung on to her son like a parasite, using his position to prop herself up. Now she had given rise to a thorn on their side with Xinfan.
Everyone congratulated Elder Chun and the Red Rain sect for their untold heavenly luck in finding so many strong prodigies at one event. Instead of grinning happily he was just smiling eating the bitter pill he had to swallow after seeing Xinfan glorious return.
Xinfan was just sitting there unknown to the danger he had awakened for himself in the Red Rain sect, he was just happy with his results and his glorious return to the world of cultivation with full force.
Everyone looked at Zou Shen who was supposed to go up there a while ago. They all saw he was sleeping soundly; they were surprised he was able to sleep through all this shocking reveals and surprises.
Xinfan next to him realized he was sleeping all this time as he didn’t bother to look at or check on Zou Shen all this time. Everyone had apparently forgotten he existed in this tournament. Everyone had apparently forgotten about Zou Shen and his words he said back in the waiting hall which they teleported from to here on the platform.
Many participants had painted him as a target to show him his place in this world. They all had forgotten him and the thoughts they carried for him. Only three people remembered Zou Shen quickly, it was Xinling, Hanrong and Ruozhen. Even Xiaoshan had forgotten he was a participant in this selection tournament.
Some thought it was because of the many surprised and shocking reveals in this selection tournament, but they also felt like they had forgotten about him ever since they all came to the main arena.
Xinfan who was sitting on the seat next to him woke up Zou Shen. Zou woke up yawning and still looking sleepy on his average face. He just looked at the platform and saw no one was up there, he turned to look at Xinfan and asked him.
“Is it my turn already? Has everyone done their inner energy test already?” He asked in a sleepy tone.
Xinfan didn’t say anything just nodding to say that he is right everyone has already completed the test and gotten their results. It was now his turn to go and get a result so they all could start the selection tournament.
Zou Shen then got up slowly like a sloth and walked on the platform towards the Star tone pillar in an uncouth manner. The audience saw this average person and his manner and started to laugh at him. The children in the Grand Arena pointed towards his clothes and said he looked like a weird person. The old women and girls realized the dress was beautiful and expensive, but they could not deny that Zou Shen was a weird person.
After some time he reached the Star stone pillar and observed it for a long time as he was interested in this treasure. After observing the Star stone pillar for a long while he smiled as he touched the pillar lightly with his right hand.
He didn’t use a punch or a palm strike but a simple touch from his hand. He stroked the surface of the pillar slowly like it was a living thing. After a while the surface of the Star stone pillar lit up with white light as it shined with immense brightness all throughout the Grand Arena, soon a white light surged upwards from the top of the Star stone pillar tearing open the sky in the Feather Peak City.
The tear was so huge that it covered the entire city. Anyone could see this large tear from anywhere in the Heavenly Green Region. The whole city looked up to look at the tear in the sky, it was the night sky covered in uncountable stars, shinning brightly like in the night sky. Everyone was confused as it was middle of the day just a few moments before the tear in the sky.
Someone outside of the peak of Feather Peak Mountain could see that the sky around the tear was lit up normally as it would be during the day. Zou Shen also looked up and he had delighted smile on his face. He returned his gaze on the shining white Star stone pillar of immense light, then he instantly kicked it softly.
The tear in the sky disappeared and the white light coming out of the Star stone pillar disappeared, even the immense light of the pillar dimmed and then the Star stone pillar returned to its normal form. Very soon only one-star design activated, seeing this Zou Shen turned around to return to his seat.
An official of the tournament stopped Zou Shen to ask what happened to the Star stone pillar, he just answered he didn’t know what happened or caused it. He can check if the pillar malfunctioned.
The official told him to stay where he was and then he went to check the Star stone pillar.
Soon the officials concluded that the Star stone pillar had indeed malfunctioned as its structure was in disarray. Zou Shen was then let go of, he returned to his seat and closed his eyes in meditation looking calm.
It was soon announced to the audience that the Star stone pillar had malfunctioned, and that Zou Shen 1-star activation would be the result. Everyone was silent for a while then started laughing, they had never seen such a turn around like the ever. All that wonder and amazement only led to activation of the 1st star.
Zou Shen didn’t others reaction to his result as it didn’t matter in the very end. The 8 slots were already filled from what he could see, and he didn’t need to even try hard to get the average result. Why waste time and effort when there is no point to the task in the first place.
Everyone was going to fight anyway be it today or tomorrow, in the end they all had to climb skipping a step or not didn’t matter, this test of inner energy was just an entertainment for the crowd if anyone deeply thought about it. It was there to balance the tournament bracket and to let it run smoothly. Other wise starting to fight in the next round meant nothing if you were to lose you would still loose, there were no second chances.
Starting to fight from today would help him to get more combat experience. This was an advantage to him and worthy enough to skip the chance to be among the 8 who advanced to the next round automatically
He had already received his prize; he didn’t care for the tournament anymore. Taking part in it was pointless other than to gain some combat experience. He had discovered a secret that would change the whole Shattered Jade Lands.
