Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 3
Lost in the Grey Forest, Zou Shen was meditating to sense the Light Wind Rabbit and its life. He hoped that he would find a clue to survive in this forest just like how the beasts survive here.
After meditating for 2 days he found himself used to chaotic Qi flow, he didn’t like it as it meant he was losing more chances to escape the forest, but he adapted to the surrounding quite a lot more than what he had before. Which was nothing at all.
He found this adaptability after meditating with a Light Wind Rabbit which came close to him as he started to blend into Grey Forest by using the breathing technique.
He discovered that he could use the stored spiritual energy of the world which was not refined and try to use it in basic unrefined state to form a barrier around his body to let the chaotic flow of Qi be sucked in through and make it calm and submit to him. Making him one with the flow of Qi and the forest. He was becoming part of this forest and was invisible to anyone without a proper tool or method to find him out.
He was very happy while meditating like this as he realized he created a cultivation method for this forest and he could slowly adapt to this Grey Forest and survive, he could even break through the steps, but his speed would be slow and painful. He found the Qi flow might be chaotic and mixing with each other, but it was naturally refined and could be used to cultivate properly. It was free of cost, pure without the need to refine, naturally formed and it was the best quality anyone could ask for.
Zou had hit a jackpot in terms of source of Qi, this also helped him answer if there was something causing this or not. This was a natural anomaly in this forest in this part of the region. Maybe there were more places like this, maybe the same or different in some way. He was still quite a bit sad as he needed to remind himself to not be too dependent on this place as he needed to get out of here and carry on with his journey.
This cultivation method was created by him and was painful to use, the Qi would attack the barrier he had formed. It felt like someone had taken a lot of swords and started to pierce him from everywhere and it pained everywhere in his body deeply. He wished he could just bleed out and relieve some pain. That did not happen the pain remained. He had to be slow and calm about it, he needed to focus as this Pure Qi would form the new barrier around his body helping him navigate this Grey Forest easily.
He was refining himself instead of the stored Qi, which was being used up little by little. It was a time-consuming slow exchange of quality of Qi. He had no cultivation technique readily available to use the Pure Qi he was making a barrier out of. The earlier barrier was just him exhaling the stored Qi in his body while also exchanging it for the Pure Qi which was flowing chaotically.
A week passed by becoming a month in this journey and he was already way past the time he wanted to leave this forest, now his goal was next month. Zou himself did not know what day it was as he was fully focused on cultivating with the method he had found. Still he was not saddened by the time lost, to him if he needed to gain the strength to overcome this world, he needed to spend time as a price.
Time was precious to him, but it was also a currency in the world of cultivation. A currency he had less of now but as his cultivation grew, he would have more of it. He would then need to spend it well to gain more strength. He wished he could find a place where the flow of time was slow than the outside world where he could cultivate without worry. That probably existed in this world, but he could not reach it as it was guarded dearly by groups who had it.
As days went by and it was soon to reach the end of the month which was 5 days away. He had stored all the Pure Qi in his body, from head to toe and increased his focus, strength of mind and body, he would start to over flow and die if he took any more after he had already formed a barrier of Pure Qi.
The whole last month felt to him being grinded on sword edges, instead of cutting him to pieces it was painfully cleaning his mind and body. He could think and react fast. His physical body felt light and strong, he could move faster and attack stronger. From this increase in strength and mind he had increased his chances of surviving in this world by a lot.
All that was left was to attune himself to one of the five elements to be able to use the Pure Qi he had stored. He didn’t realize that people would kill for an ounce of Pure Qi and he was unknowingly cultivating with it and filling himself with precious large amount of Qi. Sensing Pure Qi was hard when it was available specially in the three realms known to the average mortal.
The Mortal Human Realm, Core Realm, Ascension Realm. The Mortal Realm to refine the Qi and temper the body, Core Realm to form a core unlocking the true strength given to cultivators, Ascension realm to form a connection to the Heaven and Earth. Each Cultivation Realm was a long journey in life and after all this was the legendary Immortal Realm. A common Mortal would have less information on these cultivators not even meeting one in their lifetime.
Zou Shen always knew that there was a peak higher than the one which was being climbed upon already. There would be higher Realms than the Immortal Realm, there would be more worlds in this cultivation universe and higher tier worlds hidden away from this weak realm. It was not common knowledge or secret only he knew. It was just that he had read many novels with the same ignorant knowledge at the start where the hero later learnt of high beings and powers. He knew he had to be strong to face and explore those higher planes to existence.
For now, his focus was to reach higher realms and grow stronger to not be a cannon fodder in this world as an average cultivator. He had to survive to see those beautiful vistas and eat those delicious food. Meet new people on the way and have many adventures. Maybe no one know of his life, but he didn’t care he was going to life his own way.
Zou Shen smiled as he saw one Light Wind Rabbit sleep next to him. ‘Maybe he senses the Pure Qi and wants it to nourish itself while it rests. Thank you buddy you helped me back in the start. If not for you I would not survive this place, I would have gone mad and killed myself or be lost died to this forest.’
The Beasts in this forest had formed a Barrier around themselves to repel the chaotic flow of Qi in the Grey Forest. The mixture was chaotic but the product in the middle of connection was Pure Qi which emerged from all the flow of Qi. There was one such junction near this tree which was near the entrance he entered from. He was slowly sucking whatever Pure Qi was in this forest to cultivate.
The forest had a net blanket of flow Qi which mixed with each other causing the grey colour to appear on things it touched. Hence the forest got it’s colour it was darker shades of grey near the junctions like the tree he was meditating under, the rest of area was simple grey.
The beasts didn’t get near the junctions but would roam the rest of the area of the forest. There was Pure Qi present, but it was not worth dying for by getting your cultivation ripped to shreds by the assault of erratic and chaotic flow of Qi nearing deadly extreme in the junction.
If not for his mad cultivation method even Zou Shen would not survive and would die as his insides would slowly shred themselves. Humans might not sense the danger, but beasts did they knew the longer they were in the junction they would die slowly and painfully. Greed would their death in this case, so better to stay away from it. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com www.webnovel.com for visiting.
What killed other was a fortune to Zou Shen, he had to pay with blood and body. He was also slowly getting damaged and started to bleed from his eyes, mouth and nose. It felt like slowly but surely his head would die by his head slowly shredding itself to death killing him quickly once the process was hit critical stage.
His cultivation method to exchange the unrefined Qi for the Pure Qi present in the junction of the Grey Forest was a gamble and he had would pay with his life if he lost the match. He won by his crazy idea of exchange, helping him become part of the junction and the Grey Forest helping him survive where others could not. The Pure Qi helped his body to repair itself slowly as it was entering his body and the repair continues even now as he has stored Pure Qi from head to toe.
He had a method of healing himself of some small injury on the outside and reinforce slowly to heal if any major damage happened inside. He did not know that Pure Qi was sought after for this very reason, there were pills made of Pure Qi which would sell for very high prices that could bankrupt people and groups. They could help in healing very serious injuries and were rare in sects and empires, if present in a clan or family they would be protected dearly. Getting caught stealing one such pill would result in death on the spot.
On the last day of the month he got up from under the grey tree and looked around to see he was all alone, the Light Wind Rabbit who had helped him discover the mysteries of the Grey Forest was gone about living his life. He then looked on the ground around him, it was covered in blood which had turned grey in colour by being outside of him and meeting the flow of chaotic Qi in the Grey Forest.
Zou Shen then walked over to another tree far away from the junction and used all the strength in body to punch towards the grey bark of the tree to see the strength he currently possessed. He had to see how much his body was refined from the Pure Qi.
Just as he was about to land the punch, he opened his fist in the palm in a second and contacted the palm strike instead of the punch. A palm imprint formed on the bark of the tree. He retracted his hand quickly and observed the imprint on the bark. The whole affair was quick and silent as it seemed like there was nothing done at all just an imprint appeared on the bark of the grey tree out of nowhere.
Soon cracks started to form and spread out of the imprint edges and went up and down the grey tree. After the cracks had travelled everywhere the through the tree it fell apart and started to dismantle. Pieces of the tree where falling and still it was getting destroyed further in the air as more cracks appear on even those tiny pieces of wood. The process repeated until it all turned to dust until nothing of tree remained. Nothing was left not the tree, it’s root or the grey leaves on it. It seemed like it never existed in this forest, the only thing remaining was the ground in which the roots had settled in uncountable generations ago when the forest was created.
Zou Shen smiled at he watched the entire process of destruction happen from start to end. He closed his eyes and smiled, his face was calm and happy by the result. However, inside he was exhausted to death that it took all the physical strength he had to achieve just this. He had no strength added to him by the steps of the Mortal Human Realm.
His current weak state didn’t affect the happiness and joy he felt for gaining some strength finally. It might be a very minor step in the grand world of cultivation, but it was all his own. From the cultivation method, the gamble he took in surviving the ordeal of the junction of Grey Forest and coming out on top with his whole body and even a barrier formed the Pure Qi. It was all him and his patience and hard work, he had to lose time in the forest, but the gains he got were a great foundation that would help him throughout his life.
