Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 4
Happy and smiling Zou Shen turned away from the destruction he had caused and walked back to the path in the forest so that he could exit this forest once and for all.
Zou Shen body felt light like he was walking on air. He started to launch himself forward with the help of his feet, he suddenly felt his body gliding through the air as it shot forward with great speed. This speed was unlike he had before, so he was not used to it. He started to calm himself immediately otherwise he would loose focus due to the speed and crash into trees.
After moving forward along the path, he was able to cleave through the flow of chaotic Qi with the help of the pure Qi aura barrier around his body. He did not feel lost or worried anymore. He knew that path he was on would lead to the exit soon and this time he would walk around in circles.
Soon a light shone in the distance of the path he was speeding on, he smiled as he knew it was the exit he had been searching and waiting for more than month now. He still remembered how he had planned to conquer the Grey Forest in a week, exiting the forest continuing his journey to Feathers Peak City. One week turned into a whole month before he was able to finally see the exit in front of him.
The light was coloured unlike the rest of the Grey Forest which was all grey. Only the world outside had colour with the normal flow of Qi. He soon passed the last trees and saw the green valley ahead of him filled with the beauty of colour. He could even see the mountain range in the far distance which he had to cross over to the next valley where the Feathers Peak city rested next to the Feathers Peak great mountain.
He turned his right feet sideways and touched the ground underneath him to act as a brake to his great speed he was traveling in. By the time he stopped there was a long skid mark on the ground by his right foot. He looked in the distance and closed his eyes, feeling the world around him.
‘The flow of Qi is normal again; I am finally outside the range of the forest. The last stop before I reach Feathers Peak city should be the city of Vivid Stone which is this valley. This old path should connect with the main road which I diverted from to enter the Grey Forest.’ Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com www.webnovel.com for visiting.
Zou started to look around to see the main road in the far distance near the left mountain range. The Grey Forest was in the middle end of the grand valley which had two mountain ranges on each side which met each other at the city of Vivid Stone which was run by appointed mayor by the Great Red Rain empire. As it would be a hard task to travel through the Grey Forest, there is another path which circles through the left side of the Grey Forest and into the left side of the mountain range and then exiting near the Vivid Stone City connecting to main road leading to the city and beyond.
Zou Shen picked up his speed again moving towards the direction of the main road. He was very happy inside thinking back to his past few months in this world and the results of his hard work and risks paying off.
While moving towards the main path, he closed his eyes and started to sense the Wind Qi in the sky and the world all around. He had made his mind to start with the wind element to use the Pure Qi with. He would then pick a sword as his weapon of choice; he had his whole body ready to be used as a weapon and adding a sword would greatly increase his attack strength. The sword would also compliment the wind elemental Qi he would be starting with. He had already been practicing the basics with the bamboo he had carried all throughout the journey until he reached the Grey Forest.
He had been just swinging the bamboo left and right, up and down, diagonally also.
At first, he could not even swing the bamboo without his arm aching after couple of swings as time went his swings got focused and sharp, cutting through the air in the blink of an eye. Now he had yet to try with his newfound strength, but he believed he would be able to slice the previous grey tree cleanly and easily. With the wind Qi and the sword, he would be able to realize his sword Qi.
Adding another tool into his arsenal of strength and increase in power.
That was all far away as he had yet to even attune himself to the wind Qi. Right now, he only had the pure Qi barrier to protect himself, with the offense being his own physical strength and the strength of his mind. A simple kick or punch Mortal Human Realm cultivator would damage him greatly if it hit him. He would not die as before, but he would not be able to win a fight against their pure cultivation strength no matter how quick his reaction or how his physical strength was. He needed to cultivate the wind Qi and jump start his cultivation.
Zou Shen knew with his Pure Qi and the refinement it gave to his body he could shoot straight through the Mortal Human Realm and then enter Core Realm. Maybe not enter straight away but at least reach 10th step of Mortal Human Realm peak. Right now, he was at the base not even being 1st Step, which was at least what the expert hunters in the village he was from reached.
He had finally reached the convergence of the main road leading to city which came down from the left mountain range. He looked at the main road ahead and saw many people walking or travelling in carriages heading towards the Vivid Stone City. The city might not be at the grand level which Feathers Peak was just below the empire capital city. Still it was a city nonetheless people came to Vivid Stone City a lot. It had many stone quarries in the mountain range and many farms in the valley outside of the city. It was a main hub of commercial for many surrounding villages and towns in the nearby valley. It is said the stone quarries in the mountain ranges helped built the empires capital city when the empire was founded by Red Rain sect founder. It has been an important city in the empire and a must have stop in the eastern region of the empire before reaching Feather Peak and the capital city of the Great Red Rain empire.
Zou quickly sensed his surroundings while walking and he could hear people very clearly even at fat distance, he could also sense the flow Qi inside people if they cultivated. He could sense how the Qi flowed from the surroundings into people as they cultivated or breathe it in just regularly.
After walking he reached the gates of Vivid Stone City, it’s wall was huge and tall, it was imposing to look at its height. It was to be expected as it was near a range of stone quarries which could help build such a high wall quickly. At the entrance he could see two giant statues of soldier on each side. It felt like they were watching everyone who was coming in and going out.
Zou was sure there was someone in the mayor’s manor had the job of watching through the horizon and near the gate for criminals and shady people. He certainly didn’t want that job. There were also sets of guards on each side inspecting the people who were coming in and going out slowly.
There was long line of people going into the city. He wondered if there was some event going on in the city or a festival. The speed of people getting in was slow as the amount of people getting out was less.
‘The hero comes to the city and a special event is taking place in which he can show his skills and gather attention to himself. Then it leads to a big event where he shocks the entire world. That is what usually happens right, so where is the hero. I don’t seem him anywhere right now.’
Just as he was thinking such clichés to himself, he heard the sound a carriage stopping right next to him after a row of carriage next to the long line of people trying to get in. The carriage line went faster than the line of people who walked here in droves trying to get in.
He turned around to look at carriage which had stopped next to him, it was an expensive looking carriage, the driver an old man who looked like he was trying to hold on to life. He looked weak and frail, but Zou knew these types of people were hidden masters in cultivation. They looked old but were stronger than most and could destroy the ignorant in a second. Also, he thought it was funny how an old man who looked weak and frail was the one who was driving an expensive carriage. It was like he was baiting robbers to come steal from him and he could use those poor fools as exercise to get the rust of his old bones.
He could not see who were the passenger in the carriage, but it had to be someone of importance or high status. Still it was not his job to be curious about what other people were or did. He had his own life to live and could not waste time aweing and gazing at people of importance.
Zou Shen looked at an old couple in front talking to each other happily, they looked like they were excited to enter the city soon. He walked forward a little bit and asked them what everyone was being excited about while explaining he was from a village past the Grey Forest and had been outside of his village.
The old couple looked at Zou Shen for a while to discover he was looking like a beggar right now, still he had an average face, build and height. Nothing out of the ordinary, the old had a look of nostalgia in eyes after he looked at Zou Shen.
“You must have left your village to seek fortune right, I was once like you. I also left my village to come to Vivid Stone City to seek fortune sadly I failed and in returning I met my wife in another village. So, I guess it was not all a loss.” He looked and winked towards his wife as he said this.
The old lady hit her husband’s back with force to make it stop talking about the past as she also laughed with him. Zou also wanted to laugh out loud as he felt the old mans back must have been broken with the force his wife hit him with.
Zou smiled as he replied, “I am just passing through the Vivid Stone City to reach the Feathers Peak grand city. I just have to prepare for the journey ahead in the city.”
The old man sitting in the carriage was hearing the conversation and he wanted to chime in also as he was bored just driving, as he had not gotten to kill any robbers or bandits during the journey at all.
“You must be heading to the Feathers Peak grand city for the spectate to enter the Red Rain sect selection tournament. This year many geniuses and talents from all around the empire will be attending this grand event which happens once every 5 years for the younger generation to get into the Red Rain sect.”
Zou Shen was surprised by the news as he had not heard it from the chief at all. He tilted his head sideways to look at the long line of people who were looking quite excited to enter the city and then reach Feathers Peak city for the tournament.
‘No wonder it is such a long line, a tournament of such a scale will happen soon. Even I want to see the cool fights these geniuses and talents of my generation will show.’
