Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 7
After walking for a while and navigating through the streets Zou Shen finally arrived at the open market street, he wanted to sell the herbs, items and all the spiritual grass he had collected throughout his journey. To make money to buy necessities for the journey ahead and beyond.
He wanted to do this alone, but he had met a partner who had decided to stubbornly come along for this venture. Xiaoshan was looking at the open market with interest in her eyes. She was trying to search for interesting things to buy it seemed like, Zou didn’t bother her, and she didn’t bother him.
The journey to this market was filled with silence. She had seen much grander market in other cities and had taken part in high cost transactions. This was all simple and not worthy enough to talk about. Zou Shen was the same as he had been to markets also in his previous life, those were high tech big markets and didn’t sell supplies for cultivation at bargain prices.
The whole street was filled with stalls, many independent and some family run business. Zou was looking far away in the distance with his eyes to see if there was an open spot where he could set up shop. After looking and walking through the very long street they finally found one open spot at the very end of the street which connected to the housing part of the city. This part was where the workers lived in with their families. The old couple’s son and family from before probably lived here also.
He put down his bag of supplies and searched in for a tablecloth he had kept using during the journey to keep his clean his wounds during the journey. ‘Where is it, I kept it here last time and didn’t take it out while in the Grey Forest.’ Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com www.webnovel.com for visiting.
After a while of searching he found it buried deep under all the items he was going to sell. Now it was now torn because he would use parts of it to dress his wounds at the start of the journey. That blind sense training did hurt him good back then.
Xiaoshan was standing next to him while she was waiting for him to set up shop, she was surprised when she saw the torn cloth which was to be used on the ground. Zou Shen folded the tablecloth until it looked okay and not full of tears. He finally opened his stall which was just a torn tablecloth, he put a stalk of spiritual grass and a Light Wind Rabbit beast core he collected while hunting during the journey.
Beasts had core which were not active until they reached their own core realm, but the core was still present as they were born with it and used it to refine qi and live. What use it had for humans he did not know for now nor that he cared for it, he just wanted to earn at least 1000gil to buy a cheap sword for practice and some supplies for the rest of his journey.
Xiaoshan was surprised to see the Light Wind Rabbit’s beast core be put for sale. It is easy to kill the Light Wind Rabbit, but it is hard to get its beast core same as it to capture and tame it. People usually kill it with easily by hitting the obvious part of its small body, its middle part of the body is where the core lies and is also the usual part where the arrow hits or technique is used. It is easily killed but the core is also damaged, only skilled hunters and cultivators who want the core can do it by aiming it’s head. That requires more knowledge and skill as there is a separate population of cultivators who specialize in hunting beasts for their cores and materials to sell for crafting and alchemy. She wondered if Zou Shen was one those specialists from a family of cultivator hunters who had been made to leave the family to experience the world for himself. Otherwise a mortal could not collect a not damaged Light Wind Rabbit beast core.
She was curious and asked Zou Shen, “How did you get these Light Wind Rabbit beast core, did you hunt it yourself by learning it from your cultivator hunter family members?”
Zou heard the question as he was on the lookout for customers coming from the distance, he didn’t think much of question and answered truthfully, “My father was a mortal hunter he taught me hunt only Light Wind Rabbit before he passed away. As for getting the core I got it by myself hunting and learning. I have 100 of these, why do you ask do you want one? It will be a 100gil per core, I am not giving these away for free to anyone.”
When Xiaoshan heard Zou Shen answer she was very shocked, shocked at the fact that he could get the beast core alone by himself and that he was going to sell it for 100gil. The part about getting beast core could be ignored but selling the Beast Core for 100gil was stupid as it was worth 500gil per piece in the cultivation market.
“You do know the market price of Light Wind Rabbit beast core right, it’s 500gil per core rather than 100gil. Who told you to sell it for 100gil? That person is looking to make a fool of you.” Xiaoshan told him the right price of the beast core before he started selling them for 100gil and suffered a heavy loss.
Zou Shen stood in his spot like a rock when he heard the correct market price. ‘That idiot was me and I am also the fool. I was about to sell this Light Wind Rabbit beast core at a massive loss. If she didn’t tell me just now, I would have been the biggest idiot ever.’ He was imaging beating himself for being so impatient and not gathering the proper knowledge.
Zou closed his eyes for a while and calmed his emotions and cleared his mind and then looked at Xiaoshan with a warm smile. “Thank You”, he said it a clear voice with his true thankful heart. This heavenly beauty helped him a lot even if she would be cunning to him ever since he met her.
Xiaoshan looked at him as if he was a true idiot but she turned her head away from him, giggling quietly when he thanked her truthfully. The two looked at different directions after that awkward moment between them.
Zou Shen decided not to sell any more than 10 beast cores here, he would stay for a few more days in this city and get prepared proper this time.
Sadly it was getting late in the evening now and he had not sold a thing, hardly anyone came to remote location, even if someone came, they would not look at the stall and just head towards the housing part of the city. Xiaoshan was wearing a mask ever since she left the main road. So no one could notice as she the mask was special, and it made her invisible to whoever she wanted to not be seen by. Only Zou knew she was around him, probably laughing at him in secret.
He started packing his things back in his old bag and picked up his bamboo stick from the ground.
He looked Xiaoshan and told her he was going to look for an inn in the city to stay for a few days more. When Xiaoshan heard Zou Shen her cold eyes shoes excitement which sent shivers down his body. ‘She is planning to follow me for the rest of the days also.’ She didn’t say anything, but he knew she was planning something and will pop up unexpected.
It was night soon after and he bade goodbye to Xiaoshan, she left one her own as she knew the way of the mayor’s manor. Everyone in the city knew where the manor was it was the end of the main road. She took a short route from their spot earlier to return fast to Elder Chang. Xiaoshan saw how fast she could move as she disappeared in an instant from his vision. ‘She is truly strong, still good not to piss her off.’ Zou was sure he could not run away from her from the start she targeted him.
He walked back towards the main road where most of the inns were. He returned to the main road to see lanterns lit the main road at night beautifully. It was livelier during night-time. After walking for a while he saw a three storied building where people were going in quite a lot and coming out drunk with their bellies full. He guessed this was one of the inns in the city, it must be a popular one by the mount of people going in and coming out.
He quietly entered the inn and sat in a table alone. He saw hustle and bustle inside the inn, people were getting drunk and chatting with each other. From the conversation of the people they were all talking about the selection tournament happening two weeks from now.
He heard the names of many geniuses and talents, the sect or clan they came from. He heard the strongest genius was one of the Red Rain empires prince Zhou Hanrong. They had given him the title of Sleeping Dragon as he had basically been out of the picture of the royal family and only came into the knowledge of the people in the last two years. He had been overshadowed by his brothers and sisters in the royal family and had even been forgotten by the people of the empire. People currently joked about how someone had made the Sleeping Dragon rise from his slumber to annihilate his enemies.
Zou Shen hearing this was surprised, and thought was this also someone who had been reborn into this world like he was. If that was the case, he had a brother in arms in this world. Now he had to go to the selection examination to test out this guess. The selection seemed like it was going to be entertaining to watch.
Still he was kind of pissed, this Zhou Hanrong by the description of the people in the inn was handsome to the extreme, had great talent and potential to become one of the legends in the world of cultivation. His achievements in the past two years were no less than mind blowing, setting cultivation speed records, having great battles in the world of cultivation already. Even one of the Red Rain sects’ elder had given him praise and said he would be welcomed into the sect no matter his results in the selection tournament. Compared to the prince start his rebirth in this world was shit, was someone playing a prank on him or what. He stopped thinking about this matter as he would start to get angrier at nothing the more he thought about this matter.
Zou Shen looked around for the waiter, but no waiter came to ask for his order or look at his direction. ‘They think I am a beggar who is way over his head trying to dine in this restaurant and not pay running away. So they are just acting like I don’t exist. I guess I can’t get a room here.’ He waited for 1 more hour and no one came to ask him anything still, he got up left the inn.
He went to some guards who were patrolling for roads to ask them about the direction to some inns. The guard looked at him in pity and told him he could not get a room in any inn; it was all jam packed everywhere. The people who came today have camped outside the city with tens and are staying in their carriages. They just come in for food and supplies, they sleep later in outside the city.
Lack of information strikes him again, if he knew about all this, he would have gone to stay with Xiaoshan wherever it was. At least he could get a place to rest even if he didn’t get food. As soon as he heard this, he asked for the directions of the Red Alchemist sect. He ran towards their sect alchemist building in the city just as he got the directions for it in full speed using all his physical strength. He disappeared in an instant only leaving behind the trail of dust in his wake.
