Journey Of An Unknown - Chapter 8
There was a blur that passed by everyone in the main road in the blink of an eye. It was night so it was even more hard to notice it.
Zou was moving towards the alchemist building in the city, which was run by the Red Rain sect called, Red Alchemist sect. He needed to get some money today, it was going to be hard to live without any capital that he could use.
He had sold only a stalk of spiritual grass on his way for searching for an inn to spend some days in. He could rent a room for one day with his 100Gil from selling the stalk of spiritual grass. He was looking forward to rest in a proper bed after sleeping in the woods for all this time during his journey. Now though there was no room available due to the increase of people trying to reach the Feathers Peak city for the Selection Tournament.
The changes in his first plan for this journey were changing fast. Zou decided he would sell everything he was going to sell on the open market to the Red Alchemist sect and get a wooden sword to practice the style he wanted to. He would buy some other things he needed as well then leave the city immediately.
Zou after some time of moving around the city streets entered a familiar street, it was the open market street. It was different from the morning one. This time it was less crowded but the people who were now walking about seemed to be strong cultivators. In the morning it was general public and common cultivators.
‘They must be selling the good stuff now. If I set up shop now, I will get crushed by the competition,
I already sold nothing here earlier. I now have no chance to sell anything It’s truly rare or good. These people look strong though, they could probably pressure me into selling things to them in cheap.’ Zou shook his head and kept going on his way, he did not have time to look at what was being sold. His sole focus was on reaching the Red Alchemist sect and sell things.
Soon he reached the Red Alchemist sect building, it was a huge towering building with 6 giant floors. It would amaze anyone else if they had never been out of the villages or countryside. Zou could not waste time to gawk at it for long, once nodding to himself in approval. He knew this was the right building and could pay him properly for his goods. He was about climb the steps and enter the building when he was stopped by a guard who was guarding the entrance of this building.
“What business do you have with the Red Alchemist sect, we do not entertain beggars here. Leave if you have nothing to do with the sect or you will be beaten.”. The guard that stopped him with a condescending tone and his eyes were scrutinizing Zou Shen who he had taken to be a beggar.
“I am here to sell some herbs and ingredients to the sect.” Zou replied quickly, he had heard the way the guard looked at him wanting to throw him out the very chance he got.
After inspecting Zou with his spiritual sense the guard let him through. “You may enter, do not cause a scene inside.”
Zou didn’t bother with the guard and entered the building quickly. There was a big hall at the first floor of the building, it was the reception floor with many counters for people to do business with the sect.
He didn’t look around the hall and its greatness even for a second and rushed to an empty counter appearing before it an instant. There was a good-looking mature lady at the counter. She was about to pack her things as her shift had ended for the day.
When the lady first saw Zou Shen appearing before her in an instant. She was scared to look at him as she saw a beggar and thought a ghost had come to haunt her. She looked carefully for a while to see Zou was an average human mortal just like her. She quickly regained her composure and went into receptionist mode.
“Welcome sir to the Red Alchemist sect, our catalogue is well known in the Red Rain empire and surrounding powers for their high quality. Our reputation is well known among the cultivation world and we are backed the great Red Rain sect. How many I help you today?” The lady behind the counter had some pride in that usual PR talk they had to give to new customers.
Red Alchemist sect was indeed well known in the Heavenly Green region. It was backed by the great Red Rain sect and it operated far and wide but had huge presence in many places that the Red Rain sect controlled. To be part of such a sect was something to take pride in, even as a receptionist.
The sect was founded by an elder of the Red Rain sect who was at the grandmaster realm of alchemy in the green heavenly region. All the pills used privately by the Red Rain sect was made by this elder and his disciples. The disciples were all at the master realm of alchemy.
All of this was written in the brochure given to first time customers. Zou Shen was also given one by the lady behind the counter to read. Zou gave a glance at the brochure and then kept it in his hands not reading it at all. He didn’t want to waste time with the PR run around this lady would give him.
“I want to sell, 9 stalks of spiritual grass, 100 Light Wind Rabbit beast cores and 5 blood clovers.” He said it loud and clear so that this lady didn’t need to ask again what he wanted to sell. To him she was a mature lady and not an old lady who could not hear properly.
After hearing what Zou Shen wanted to sell, the good-looking counter lady had a blank look on her face. She got immediately then bowed to Zou, “Sorry sir, I will have to great my supervisor for this transaction.” She turned around and went up the stairs in a hurry.
Zou was left there standing, he could now only hope there was not some issue or that they were going to bring in some thugs to take his things. Zou Shen was left there for a while with his thoughts.
‘Did I get something very rare, that they have to check something.’ He quickly guessed it must be the 5 blood clovers, he didn’t know they were very rare. He didn’t even know what they did. He just picked them up as they were coloured red and smelled like blood. He thought it was very interesting, so he picked them up to sell them later. He didn’t know what value they had so he had decided to sell it an alchemist sect anyway.
After 20 minutes an old man came down the stairs to greet Zou Shen, he was an old man with big and tall built, he also had a glorious beard and unkempt long hair like a mad scientist. He gave off an aura of mystery and strength.
“Greets little friend, my name is Peng Chen. I had put a notice for some amount of Blood Clovers in the morning. As fate would have it you came tonight to sell some 5 Blood Clovers. I would like to buy it all from you directly for 1 million Gil.” Old Man Chen named his price as he looked like he was in a hurry to get some Blood Clovers.
Zou Shen reading the impatience look of the old man and knew the man was like him, short on time but the difference was he was big on capital. “Yes I agree with the price if you have money on your right now.” Zou Shen put his hands into his bad and pulled out 5 Blood Clovers.
Old Man Chen looked the Blood Clovers in the Zou hand and his eyes shined with desperation. He immediately pulled out 5 slips of red coloured spirit stones whose transaction value in mortal currency was 200 thousand Gil each. Spirit stones were also a form of currency in this world which was told to him by Xiaoshan. When Zou heard this, he was excited as he could use spirit stones however he wanted if he had the knowledge. The spirit stone was coloured different for each amount, the higher colour one went the more spiritual energy was stored into it. He had some ideas that he wanted to try with spiritual stones.
Cultivators would use pills and spiritual stones to increase their cultivation levels. They needed huge amount of it, in the higher realms or some sort of encounter that would make them jump straight on with ease. Zou Shen liked to laugh at this, those cultivators might as well throw pills and spirit stones at each other instead of do battle with skill and techniques. To a cultivator loosing precious pills and spirit stones would hurt more than breaking an arm or leg in battle. He did laugh at others, but he wanted to try this for himself once, kill someone by only throwing pills and spirit stones.
After the transaction was done between Zou Shen and old man Peng Cheng, the good-looking receptionist came holding a bag full of spirit stones also, but they were coloured common and rare to make up for the total amount of 50,900 Gil. Zou then took out the 9 spiritual grass stalks and the 100 Light Wind Rabbit beast cores and have it the receptionist.
He then kept the bag of spirit stones and the 5 red spirit stones in his old bag and then wrapped it around himself like a backpack as usual. He was a beggar when came in and he still looked like one, but he was a rich beggar now. Zou quietly smiled when thinking about this change of fortune. He could return to his old cottage if he wanted to, living there easily and safely for the rest of his life. He didn’t want to as he wanted to see more of the cultivation world and stand atop even legends of this world. He wanted to live free and strong, eternally. He had made up his mind and nothing was going to stop him from achieving his dream.
He bowed to old man Peng Chen and the receptionist and left quickly from the hall. Old Man Chen wanted to talk to the young man, but he didn’t as he saw the hurried look Zou had on his face same as him. He understood this young fellow was also like him strapped for time.
After some time he also left the Red Alchemist sect with his 5 Blood Clovers after meeting with the master of the building. Telling him that his notice can be removed now, thanking the sect for putting up his request. He also headed towards the Vivid Stone City mayor’s mansion where Xiaoshan and
Elder Chang of the Luo clan were also staying. He had been in the Red Alchemist for the whole day, so he didn’t know that the pair had come to the mansion just like him.
‘Little Musong don’t worry grandfather will help you recover and grow strong.’ He disappeared from the entrance of Red Alchemist sect the very instant he came out. He was there one moment and the next he was not.
The supervisor praised the receptionist for not closing her shift quickly like the others and overseeing Zou Shen transaction and informing the master of this branch building about the Blood Clovers immediately.
“Old man Chen is a legend in our cultivation world, he is also like a teacher to our Red Alchemist sect founding elder in realm of alchemy. So our branch building helping him with his request is more benefiting to us than spirit stones or number of strong cultivators combined.” The supervisor explained to the good-looking mature receptionist.
Zou Shen was heading towards the part of the main road where there some shops selling things he needed. He had happy smile on his face, he was no longer just a poor beggar he was a rich beggar.
