Just Want to Be His Lover - Chapter 22.3
Gu Yanshu’s eyes were narrowed, and his voice was cold and emotionless.
He looked extremely cruel.
Shen Jue replied softly, “Tell me first, what did I do that deserved a death sentence?”
Gu Yanshu raised a brow, “Don’t you know it yourself?”
Shen Jue knew it too well; after all, there were so many things he did that would warrant a beating from Gu Yanshu, so he couldn’t tell which one it was.

“Give me a hint?”
Gu Yanshu stared at him coldly, “Is it fun lying to me?”
Shen Jue: “?”

His body spoke for him instead.

When Shen Jue saw this, he wanted to soothe Gu Yanshu’s fur. He’s clearly a kitten, why is he acting like a little dog?
However, a kitten’s scratch would hurt too. Hence, he explained seriously, “I really pulled a muscle.”
Gu Yanshu continued glaring at him.
“However, it’s not really that serious. It’s just a mild strain, and the doctor said that I would recover so long as I don’t move my hand for two days. If you don’t believe me, I can show you my medical records.” Shen Jue took out the document and handed it over to Gu Yanshu.
A mild sprain. Patient should not move his hand for one to two days.
Gu Yanshu raised his brows.
Shen Jue added in a low voice, “I was really hurting. I didn’t lie to you about that. Look, my hand is swollen.”
His voice was hoarse and he dragged his tone. He was like a mature man who was filled with grievance within, yet at the same time, he sounded like a player who was adept at pleasing and coaxing others.
As he spoke, he even rolled up his sleeve and showed Gu Yanshu his arm.
Gu Yanshu examined his arm sceptically.
It really seemed as though something was wrong. He reached out to touch it and realised that it was indeed slightly swollen. “What happened?”
Shen Jue quickly acted pitiful. He pulled his sleeve down and said in a nonchalant tone, “I probably injured it again at the haunted house. It’ll be fine soon.”

Gu Yanshu pursed his lips tightly.
He was still angry.
Angry that Shen Jue lied to him.
Also angry because he was clearly injured, yet he still protected him, and that had aggravated his injury.
Even more so, he was angry that Shen Jue was getting close to him for no rhyme or reason, and was doing all these strange things.
And most importantly, he was angry that he would actually feel uneasy because of Shen Jue’s actions, and his thoughts would go astray.
After some time.
He said coldly, “This is not the real reason why you lied to me. What do you actually want?”
Shen Jue looked at him in defeat, as his voice softened, “What do I actually want? Isn’t it because you have always been treating me so coldly and fiercely? I just wanted you to care for me and feel for me, so that our relationship can be better.”
“Is there a need for our relationship to be better?”
“Why isn’t there a need? You’ve been angry with me for five years now. How can I let you continue to be angry with me?”
Shen Jue wasn’t someone with a good temper, but till now, he would always appear patient and tolerant at times like this, making Gu Yanshu feel that his anger was unfounded.

However, Gu Yanshu also recalled what happened five years ago, when Shen Jue and him quarrelled, and he finally said, “Then, let’s not meet anymore.”
It seemed as though Shen Jue was the one lying every time, but he would always end up being the bad guy.
How could this be?
Gu Yanshu was not going to take the bait this time. His voice was cold, “I have said this before. I’m not angry with you.”
“How is this not being angry?”
“You deserved it this time.”
Shen Jue chuckled, “Then, should I continue to coax you?”
The two words “placate you” sounded rather ambiguous, coming from Shen Jue’s mouth.
It made the tips of Gu Yanshu’s ears turn red.
Who needs your coaxing?
From where did he learn such flirtatious and player-like methods?
Gu Yanshu felt that there would be no outcome even if they continued this conversation. Moreover, Shen Jue had aggravated his injury after protecting him, hence he really couldn’t bear to beat him up.

His expression was indifferent as he said, “I’m not a child. I don’t need you to coax me. You can do whatever you like, it’s not my business. But please take note that when we are in front of the cameras, you should keep the distance. Don’t cause any misunderstandings.”
After a pause, he continued, “Also, before you finish up the five trotters, don’t think about eating anything else.”
And then, he turned around and walked towards the bathroom.
However, just as he opened the door, there was a sudden bang. All the lights went out, and the room was shrouded in complete darkness.
Gu Yanshu instinctively retreated to where Shen Jue stood before, as he yelled, “Shen Jue!”
In the next moment, he fell into a warm embrace, “It’s fine. It’s probably just a blackout.”
True enough, there was an announcement by the crew through a loudhailer, “Don’t be scared! There’s some maintenance work going on! We’ll restart the electricity immediately. Everyone, please remain calm!”
Gu Yanshu heaved a sigh of relief.
After he finally snapped out of his fear, he pushed Shen Jue aside, then took out his phone and turned on the torchlight, wanting to go down by himself.
Shen Jue looked at him from behind, “Do you dare to go down yourself?”
Gu Yanshu replied coldly, “Why wouldn’t I dare to? It’s not like I’m scared or anything.”
“Then do you know that your voice was shrilly like a baby’s cries just now?”
Gu Yanshu: “…”
Shrilly like a baby?
I’m just a natural falsetto.
Gu Yanshu felt that he could not allow Shen Jue to take him as a joke anymore, and he had to fight for his own pride. Hence, he looked serious as he held the weak light on his phone and started to walk out.
The moment he walked out, he felt a gust of wind, and heard the door creak.
His entire body started trembling.
Still, he mustered his courage and continued walking out.
However, he had just taken a step when his mind started working on its own, replaying the scenes from the haunted house. The ghost doll that didn’t have any pupils in her eyes, the bloodied baby foetus, the female corpse that climbed out of the mirror, the man who committed suicide…
He stood still where he was for an entire minute.
Then, he opened his mouth and spoke calmly, “Shen Jue.”
“Hmm?”
“I’ll give you a chance to make up for your mistakes.”
Shen Jue stifled a laugh, “Alright. Thank you, Your Majesty, for your kindness. Can Your Majesty please hold my hand? I’m scared of the dark.”
Gu Yanshu reached his hand out with much difficulty.
It was extremely dark in the stairwell, and he held tightly onto Shen Jue, not daring to let go of the latter’s hand.
One step, two steps, three steps. It seemed as though the path ahead was endless.
Gu Yanshu thought to himself, fortunately there was a blackout, and the livestream was halted. Otherwise, if the fans saw them like this, their thoughts would probably go haywire again.
As he continued thinking about it, Shen Jue had already reached the final step. Gu Yanshu held his hand as he followed the pale stream of light from the torch, fearing that he might miss his footing.
And then, the floor turned bright.
He could see everything clearly.
Gu Yanshu was stunned for a moment, and then, he slowly raised his head.
All he saw was a gigantic camera that was facing him.
On the side, the big screen showed two hands that were tightly interlocked.
Gu Yanshu: “…?”
