Kael Cor: A Vampire’s Awakening - Chapter 387 Base Vi
“GROOOAAAARRRRRR!!!”
Great, just what I needed, more monsters to deal with, and this one with strength comparable to a vampire elder and very close to a Dracula. I think Roan would call this a gold or maybe diamond grade monster or was it platinum. The soul golem(that’s what I’m going to call it) charged at me, swinging it’s massive club like hands that was an amalgamation of really sharp pointy ended weapons at my side or rather my entire body. I ducked under the strike and raised my left hand above my head as a rune circle came into existence above me (SHIELD), and just in time too as it’s other club like hand came smashing down on the rune.
*Bang!!!*
The impact was so jarring and carried enough force to create a tiny meter deep crater under my feet with me in the center. This thing wasn’t only big and strong, it was also extremely fast, heck I suspect that it’s speed is a whole lot more than it’s power. I rolled out from the crater, clenching my right hand as another (SHIELD) rune circle came into existence blocking the strike that came next.
The rune circle was blasted to pieces it’s entire form becoming corroded as I was pushed back, my feet digging furrows in the earth. My most powerful abilities and this bloody golem was a perfect counter for it, it just didn’t make sense to me, but maybe I’ve just been so used to the superiority of soul energy and the fact that I was the god in charge of it, that the idea of there being something or a person with abilities to counter it shook me. But even then I wouldn’t let this stop me in what I have to do, I’m sill going to beat this thing, sure I’m the god of runes and souls, but I’m also a freaking vampire and I have some bad ass abilities from there too.
I waved my hands and three meters in diameter (SHIELD) rune circles came into existence, but it was not just that. Though my soul runes are always stronger in my hands as opposed to other runes, but I’m the god of runes, even in the body of a mortal I could still play with other runes.
Each of the shield rune was a three layered rune circle with the (SHIELD) Rune being the periphery of the rune circle, followed closely by the rune for (HOLY) and then finally (LIGHTNING). The rune circles blazed with a golden white light as tiny streaks of white lightening moved allover it’s surface. Whatever this golem was, it was a part of nature, a product of death but still a part of natural order of things, or maybe the unnatural order of things, but still within the explanation and confines of the universe. The broken ability were runes with their ability to rewrite the very natural laws that the universe runs on, it might have a soul energy that was corrosive to my runes and myself In particular, but it didn’t mean it was more powerful than my runes, especially when I tailored made them to counter it.
The golem slammed his huge hands on me once again, however this time, the rune circle did not just defend, it caused damage. There were dozens of them floating in the air, making the entire forest seemed even more brighter than usual. They encircled me, rotating and moving on their own, keeping me right in a pillar of light as it slammed into the runes again and again.
And each time the golem hit the runes it would release an infernal roar of pain and anguish, yet it wouldn’t stop it’s assault.
Every slam shaved off pieces of equipment and weapons from it’s abnormal body, the energy from the runes were not just purifying the souls, due to bow corrupted some of them were it was burning and refining them, turning them into soul energy rather than a soul itself.
It was a rather slow process and a painful one too, but as long as that golem keeps slamming it’s fist into the runes, then it would eventually burn itself to nothing. But I’ve never been a passive fighter, not when the situation doesn’t call for it. I shifted backwards and angled all of the rune circles so that they would be like massive glowing disks in the sky, and then I willed them into rotation.
In not time at all, the wind around our vicinity was disturbed as over two dozen mini cyclones were formed. I pushed my hand forward willing the rune circles to move forward as they consumed the form of the golem. Loud sounds of screeches created from metal scraping against metal, or the Inhumane wail of souls as they were cut and shredded In the most inhuman way possible. Thankfully it was made from metal rather than from flesh and bone, if that were the case then the scene in front of us would have a whole lot more bloodier than we expected.
I pulled my hand back summoning the rune circles back to my side and making the cyclones they created fade into the air they were born form. Allover the particular area where the rune circle had displayed their power, scattered and broken pieces of swords, armors, shields, spears, sabers etc. were all left exposed. The tell tale green glow of necromancy or even a residue of a single soul was not to be found. All that was left was a massive globe of refined soul energy without a place to go or a medium for it to be used.
All of a sudden whatever was left of the soul catcher oaks began to sway and bend, almost as if they were attracted to the pure and bugs amount of soul energy now hovering in the air. But since all the oaks within two hundred meter radius has been destroyed, there was no way fro them to reach it. I want to make a container for it, because truly this can be quite the power source if utilized properly, or an agent for the advancement of a Vampire’s rank. I’m sure Cassiel and Michael would be able to find a use for it.
I moved one of the rune circles to my feet and got on top of it. Even though a significant part of the forest had already been cleared, there was still a huge amount of these trees left, which means it still wasn’t safe. I turned to the others who much to my surprise had actually decided to take a seat and enjoy the show.
“You guys stay put and be safe, you can follow behind me as close as you can, I’m going to clear a path forward.” And by clearing a oath forward I leant I was going to level the entire forest, though I won’t be able to use any huge techniques since I wanted to be low-key.
I willed the rune circle I was on to move forward, and as for the remaining two dozen rune circles, I had them start spinning again, transforming into mini hurricanes of pure death and destruction, and then I sent them crashing into the forest, touching each and every single soul catcher oak tree they touched into timber. Guess this might take a while.
